Chapter 118

Sarah walked into the mansion with a broad smile on her face. She knew that she had already accomplished her mission.

Marina walked outside to the hallways to welcome Sarah, and she couldn't stop staring at Sarah as she smiled throughout. She wanted to know what it was that was making Sarah happy. When she was done attending to Sarah and preparing her bathtub, she walked into her room and put on her earbuds, in a hurry to listen to Sarah’s conversations.

She operated it from her mobile phone to listen to Sarah’s recordings for the day, but she discovered nothing. It turned out that the recorder was blank.

She narrowed her eyes and decided to try the recorder in Sarah’s room, and it was still blank.

She wondered if it was the signal. She quickly walked into Sarah’s room but discovered that the door was locked.

She tried to act normal, but her heart kept pounding hard in her chest. She hurried into her room and paced around. “What could be the problem?”

“Did Sarah discover the recorder? Why can't I hear a single thing? It seems it had been disconnected.” She paced around the room with her heart beating hard.

“If Sarah found something like that, she would have told me about it; she would have been furious, but she looked calm,” Marina thought to herself.

“I must get to the root of this,” she spoke,

Sarah was done having her bath. She felt relaxed and tried to keep calm. She knew that the marina would be in her room to listen to her recording. She knew that she would be panicking at the moment, and it gave Sarah satisfaction.

She cleaned her body and quietly hummed to her music. She dressed in black pyjamas and packed her hair in a sleek bun ready to go down for dinner when she heard a knock on her door.

She opened it, and the marina walked into the room. “Madam, do you need anything?” Marina asked nervously, with her eyes scanning the room.

“No, marina. I don't need anything. I will have my dinner downstairs in a bit,” she spoke calmly. She noticed how Marina was fidgeting and scanning the room.

She knew Marina had noticed that the cameras were destroyed.

“Are you alright, Marina? You seem to be sweating. Don't you have an air conditioner in your room?” Sarah asked.

“There is no problem, ma'am. I am just exhausted,” she said and walked out of the room.

Marina walked into her room and wandered around tirelessly. She was sweating profusely and filled with confusion.

“What do I do right now?” Marina wandered around the room.

Sarah busted out in laughter as Marina walked out. She could see the fear in Marina's body, and she was ready to play along with her.

Marina didn't feel good. She kept wandering around her room. She didn't know what to do.

She knew that if Sarah found out about it, Sarah wouldn't take it easy on her because she knew how dangerous Sarah was. She realised that she couldn't spend any minute in the house or else she would be destroyed.

She had already gotten for herself and her family a house in Oregon. She didn't plan to move out until the year ran out, but now she knew she had to leave asap and be with her family.

She picked up the phone and informed them about her coming and that they should be safe.

She quickly gathered her stuff and was about to leave town. She already had more evidence and didn't want to keep them in her possession or else she would be traced.

When she was done packing her stuff, she snuck out to Audrey’s room and quietly knocked on the door.

Audrey opened the door gently, and the marina snuck inside. “Audrey, I need to talk to you,” Marina spoke in a hushed tone.

Audrey narrowed her eyes, and she was shocked to see Marina in such a state. She and Marina became friends when they moved into Nicholas's mansion, and their bond became stronger.

“I am moving. I need to leave tonight and take the night train to the station. I would like to join my family in Oregon and start a new life there,” she spoke.

Audrey’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How come you didn't tell me about this, Marina? Why leave so soon?”

“I don't have time to explain, Audrey. I need you to take care of yourself, and most importantly,...” she paused and brought out a file from her purse and extended it to Sarah. “Have this. It's a USB drive. Please do not open it until I instruct you to. I need you to keep it in your care and not tell anybody about it,”

“What is it about?” she asked.

“It doesn't matter. Just do as I say. Don't tell anybody about my whereabouts,” she spoke and stood up from her bed

“I will miss you, Marina. Please keep in touch,”

Audrey and Irina had been good friends, and since Marina moved in, Audrey also built a bone with Marina. Audrey felt sad that Marina would be moving out, and she knew something was wrong, but she couldn't tell what it was.

Marina quickly sneaked out of the mansion and scanned the whole environment to see if anybody was outside.

She reached the bus stop and waited for the next bus. Her mind was racing, and she couldn't wait to get out of the street.

But as she stood there, a black SUV pulled up in front of her, its tinted windows. Marina’s eyes widened in shock as the car came to a stop. She knew that they had come for her.

She took a few steps backward, and she planned to run away. Her breath ceased when the door was open and a figure stepped out in the dark.
