Elena’s POV:
My heart skipped a beat, and my legs became very heavy. “No,” I muttered silently to myself. My mind struggled to process what I had just seen. It felt unbelievable. My breathing increased rapidly, and I could feel my breath cease.
Irina caught up with me and stopped in her tracks when she noticed that I had seen it all. She had a long face on, and I could also see tears gathering in her eyes.
“Maam,” she called out; her voice was low and filled with worry. I turned around to see a worried look on her face. But I couldn't speak, I couldn't think, and I couldn't respond.
All I could think of was turning around and running out of the premises. I didn't stop in my tracks until I was out of the gate. I gasped for air, and my chest was rising and falling.
My vision was blurry, and tears filled my eyes. I didn't even know what to do. I stood by the road, stretching my hands to stop a taxi. I didn't know where to go; all I knew was that to get out of the house, out of Nicklaus, out of the environment.
I hurriedly stepped inside, my hands trembling as I opened the door. “Where are you going to miss?” he asked.
“just move. Take me out of here,” I spoke with my voice trembling heavily. All I knew was that I had to get out of this place that caused me pain.
The taxi zoomed off, and I busted out in tears. I felt overwhelmed and could not hold it back. I couldn't believe that Nicholas would be getting married to Sarah.
I thought the whole engagement was just a sham until they made it real. I didn't even know it was real—that they would get married. I gathered the strength to speak up, and I made mention of Alex’s address.
The thought of Nicklaus, the man whom I had grown to love, had abandoned me for my sister. It was a long drive, and I couldn't wait to lay on my bed.
After what felt like forever, we arrived. I paid the taxi driver off and got out of the car. I hurried into the elevator, with my eyes fixed on the floor, to make voice-eye contact with people. I stopped at the last floor.
Immediately, I swung the door open, desperate to escape the pain. I saw Alex sitting on the chair; his face hardened when he noticed that I had been crying. He stood to his feet, but I didn't give him a chance to speak to me. I hurriedly walked past him into my room, collapsed on the bed, and continued shedding tears.
I felt my world crumbling, and I couldn't stop myself from shedding tears.
“Elena, can I come in? Are you alright?” Alex called as he walked into the room.
He stayed with me on the bed and tried to calm me down. “Whatever it is, just make sure that you don't overwork yourself,” he said.
After a few minutes, I calmed down and wiped the tears from my face. I cleaned my eyes with the back of my palms, and I could feel how puffy it had become.
“Nicklaus just got married to Sarah today,” I spoke, and Alex exhaled deeply. He didn't seem shocked by the news.
It looked like he knew about it. I looked up at him and narrowed my eyes. “Alex?” I called.
He fixed his eyes on me and then drifted them to the other side of the room.
I paused for a few seconds and gave him a questioning look. “You know about it?” I asked, pointing my fingers at him.
He didn't say a word; he just looked for a way to calm me down, and I was not having it. He inhaled and exhaled slowly. “Elena, it's not what you think it is,” he spoke. His words were filled with empathy.
“You have not answered my question, Alex. Did you also know about the wedding?” I asked, my voice cracking.
He pressed his lips into a thin line, and his eyes were filled with guilt. “Yes,” he nodded; his voice was barely above a whisper.
I scoffed and laughed dryly, “Wow, just wow. Who would have thought?” I spoke; my voice was filled with sarcasm.
Alex walked close to me. “Elena, it's not what you think it is. Telling you will only hurt your feelings, and I didn't want that to happen,” he pleaded.
I was too hurt to care. “Well, not telling me had also hurt my feelings. How about that?” I asked and walked out on him, leaving him standing alone in the room.
Sarah’s POV: I walked down the aisle in my beautiful white wedding dress. The stunning lace and crystals glittered in the light. My father held my arms beside him; he was filled with pride as he escorted me to my future husband. I couldn't stop smiling. I was grinning ear to ear, and all eyes were on me. I enjoyed the excitement and joy of the moment. It made me feel like a princess in a fairy tale and the centre of attraction. I love that I was the center of attraction and all eyes were on me and Nicklaus. Everybody admired me as I walked to the alter. The guest stood on their feet. I could see the admiration on their faces. I became the spotlight and had my dream wedding, which made me the talk of the town. Nicklaus was already standing at the altar waiting for me. His charming smile made me fall hard for him. He was dressed in a black suit, which suited him perfectly, and his hair was styled, every strand in place. He looked like a model about to walk down the runway for Vogue
Nicklaus’s POV:I walked into my room after the wedding dinner, finally able to remove the fake smile on my face. I had been forcing myself to smile all day for my family and friends, but my face fell back to normal when I walked into the room and closed the door. My cheeks were hurting so much from smiling. It is now real. I am now Sarah’s husband.I let out a deep sigh and sat on the couch. I exhaled deeply, with my hand running through my face. I could not believe that Elena was truly out of my life for good and Sarah was now my wife. It feels surreal, like a dream that I had begged myself to wake up from. I thought about how my life changed in the space of just six months. Everything happened so fast. I got married to two women in six months. Not only two different women but two sisters. This is so bad. All because I need an heir just to take over from my father’s companies.I thought about Elena. I thought I loved her enough to stand by her, but I failed her. Now all I have le
Elena’s POV:It’s been a week since Nicklaus' wedding with my sister, and I have not been myself since then. I thought I had gotten over him and that I would easily move on and forget the pain, but I was mistaken. I hadn't left the house all week; I had not touched my phone; I had not spoken to anyone, not even Alex or Zoey. I was unable to face the outside world. I just wanted to be left alone and have some time to think things through. But this morning, I woke up very early in the morning, and I felt happy that I could get enough sleep all night long, and it gave me a little bit of relief.I looked around and decided to do something different, to take control of my life again. I rolled out of bed and walked to my closet. I arranged my clothes, folding and packing them in my box, and signed deeply, trying to let go of the past and start living again. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and it was swung open. Alex was standing in the doorway and walked inside the room. “Elen
Elena’s POV:I arrived in Oregon together with Zoey; we stepped out of the car onto the street. I looked around the unfamiliar surroundings before entering her apartment. I felt a little bit of relief that I had left Los Angeles, along with the painful memories and toxic relationship that was holding me back. I am here to start over again. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but I was willing to stand up and fight for myself this time around. Zoey noticed my mood as we walked into the house. “Elena, are you okay?” She asked, raising her eyebrows and giving me a questioning look.I looked at her and smiled nervously, “Yes, I am fine.” I spoke, trying to brush it off, but Zoey knew me too well. I could tell she didn't believe me.She walked up to me and said, “I know it is not easy for you because you are starting life from the start, but I want you to know that your happiness lies with this decision and you will find your strength again. Zoey reached for my hand and squeezed it gent
New BeginningsElena Williams woke up to the sound of her alarm ringing loudly. She let out a huge sigh and reached for the alarm clock before turning it off. This is not how I planned to start my day. I had planned to start my day feeling energetic, but it was quite the opposite. She lay on her back, laid on her back, placed her hand on her forehead, and let out a frustrated groan. She felt tired and exhausted, and she didn't even know how she would get up from her bed into the bathroom. Just then she heard a knock on her door: “Wake up, Elena. It's your interview this morning,” Zoey shouted outside the room.Elena rolled out of bed when she realised that it was getting late already and walked into the bathroom behind her as she felt the cool times on the floor. She quickly had her bath and changed into a cooperate outfit. She packed her hair into a sleek bun and applied a little bit of make-up to frame her face. She stepped outside the front pouch and inhaled deeply as the sweet
Sarah blinked her eyes open as she felt the morning sun rays on her. She had never felt this good and satisfied. She is now living her life as Mrs. Sarah Coleman, and that alone is her greatest achievement. Of course, she works up to an empty bed. Nicklaus was nowhere to be found; she could care less about it, but it was slowly getting to her.Nicklaus had been out of time for weeks, taking care of business, and he was happy to be away. He had never been happy since he got married to Sarah. He could not wait for his child to be born; maybe that would give him a reason to be happy again.Sarah’s phone buzzed, and she reached for it. Seeing the caller ID, she knew it was something serious and picked up the call.“Have you found him?” she asked, her voice deep. “Yes, ma'am. He is in the warehouse,” the voice game from the other end of the line.“Good, I will be there soon; just make sure you do your job. Keep an eye on him.” She spoke and hung up. She looked at the empty bed and let o
The drive home was a silent one, and I couldn't wait to get home. I felt satisfied with what I had done, but I had been feeling angry all day.Lying to everyone about Nicklaus taking care of me was getting on my nerves. I wanted us to be together always just like he and Elena were but he doesn't seem to be looking in my direction.I don't even know where he is, what he is doing right now, or when he will come back home. Is he even in the country? It felt sad that I had to be alone in this pregnancy journey. I can't take it anymore, I must do something to make Nicklaus come back home. I hurriedly did a U-turn and diverted to my mother's house. I had to let everything out. I know that she would have a way to sort this out.”The iron gate was opened, and I drove inside the building. I parked close to the front pouch and quickly went to the rooftop where my mother would be.I walked to her, putting on a long face. “What's wrong, Sarah? Don't you feel good?” She asked, her eyes filled wit
Sarah’s POV:I slowly regained consciousness and blinked my eyes open after rubbing them a few times. I saw my Nicklaus standing in front of me, and he gently held my arms. I smiled weakly and turned to the other side of the room to see my parents standing beside me."Oh, my baby,” my mother said and gently squeezed my hands. “I'm glad you are awake. You gave us a scare,” my mother said. Her blue eyes sparkled, and I could feel her excitement. My father smiled at me and kissed me on the forehead. “I'm glad you are awake,” he spoke.I nodded my head and smiled at them. “Thank you, everyone, for being here for me,” I said weakly.Just then, the door was opened, and the doctor came. It was the doctor from the morning who had injected me earlier. “Good morning, Sarah, How are you feeling today?” she said with a smile on her face.“Good morning, doctor; I feel the way better.” I spoke weakly. She walked close to me and checked the drip. Nicklaus's eyes were on me the whole time, and I
