Chapter 120

Elena’s POV:

I woke up very early in the morning because of my constant nightmares. My mind still replayed the nightmares in my head.

For two days now I have been contemplating whether to open up and tell Nicklaus about my pregnancy since he is the father of my baby.

He abandoned me without thinking twice about it. He signed the divorce papers and forced me to sign them.

I lay on the bed and tossed around. I lay on my back and stared at the ceiling. I thought about the whole thing. I wanted to keep this pregnancy a secret because I did not want anything to hinder my plans.

I had been planning to go far away and start my life. To have a fresh start. Away from everybody, but I didn't even know where to start, but the idea of going away and starting over again had been my dream.

I was happy last night because the waiter released a statement at the court and claimed that the allegations against me that caused my miscarriage were false. This made me a little proud of myself. At least I got vindicated for that one.

The news would break Nicklaus down.

Nobody needs to tell me that the new Nicklaus is for this worse. He had completely changed, and I cannot risk telling him about the pregnancy before he takes away my child from me when he is born.

It was a Saturday morning, and I just needed to prove to him that the allegations against me that caused the miscarriage were false.

I had planned to stay back here with Alex for some time until I got back on my feet. I will get a new job and start something for myself before going to culinary school.

I applied for a scholarship, and I just hope that I will be chosen among the thousands of Americans who applied to the culinary school.

I had my bath after my early morning throw-up. I walked to the kitchen to see Alex preparing a nice breakfast, and the aroma filled the atmosphere. My stomach growled, and I couldn't wait to dig in.

“Good morning, Alex. This smells nice. What are you preparing?” I asked, walking to the kitchen counter.

“Just a little something to celebrate your little wins. At least you have proven to be a strong lady, and I admire that about you,” he said with a gentle smile on his face. “Now if you will let me, why don't you have a taste of my pancakes?” He spoke and served me a plate of pancakes designed with chocolate.

I grabbed the fork and took a bite. I closed my eyes and savoured the taste of the pancakes. Alex looked at me, waiting to hear my review, “This tastes yummy. I want more, I commented.

After breakfast, we both cleared the table and did the dishes.

“So what are your plans for today?” I asked,

“Urm… I just need some files from the office, and I will work from home,” he spoke.

I nodded my head and turned around. I didn't know how to tell him that I would be going to Coleman’s mansion to prove my innocence. I knew he would kick against it because of my safety and because of what happened last time, so I would just sneak in and hurry back before he returns.

“Do you want to go anywhere or take a stroll? We could go together,” he asked.

I shook my head. “I will be just fine,” I said

Alex changed into a casual outfit and left for the office. I checked for his car downstairs and watched as he zoomed off into the street of Los Angeles. I hurriedly changed into a black fitted dress and a blue denim jacket. I slipped into a white pair of sneakers and rushed out of the house.

I booked a taxi and hurriedly rushed into it. With the statement in my hands. I looked out through the window. I couldn't wait to reach the mansion to see Nicklaus.

I know he is always in his study on a Saturday morning, so I couldn't wait to deliver the message and prove my innocence.

After what seemed like forever, the taxi pulled up in front of the mansion, and the iron gate opened. I had to walk down, and I saw tonnes of cars in the compound. They seemed a lot more than usual.

“Is there an occasion?” I asked myself. I walked through the back door.

I walked upstairs to Nicklaus's study without anybody stopping me, and I quietly dropped the paper on his desk. I wanted to wait for him to come into the study, but he was taking time, and I was in a hurry to leave.

I stood up to leave, and I walked out of the hallway when I heard a musical sound coming out of the garden.

I walked out of the hallways, and my eyes fell on Irina. She paused when she saw me and quickly ran to wrap her arms around me.

“Madam Elena,” she called.

“It's so good to see you, Irina. How have you been?” I asked.

She shook her head, and her mood changed. “Nothing is without you,”

“I understand. What's happening? Where is the music coming from? I asked her. Irina tried to speak, but I cut her off.

“Let's go. I need to see what is happening.” I spoke.

“Madam,” Irina stuttered, but I didn't listen to her.

“Common, let's go,” I said, walking down the stairs. Irina followed me from behind.

I walked through the kitchen and landed in the garden. I saw guests all dressed up, and wedding instrumentals were being played.

I squinted my eyes from the hidden flowers, and after getting the perfect view, my eyes landed on Sarah and Nicklaus exchanging wedding vows as the crows cheered them up.
