Chapter 188

Elena’s POV:

I stayed up all night with my father and Nicklaus. Nicklaus’s bodyguards surrounded his room together with the police as he gave his statement. I also have my statement, and I felt relieved that he is now guarded.

Alex, Zoey, and Jason arrived and stayed with me all night long. Jason had refused to sleep. He played with my father; I watched them as I smiled. They looked so happy. They laughed and joked until they both fell asleep.

I had a little sleep on the couch. Zoey and Alex went home to rest.

It was morning, and I blinked, my eyes opened. The police stopped by my father’s ward as they searched for Sarah.

She had been on the run since last night, and we have not heard from her. When my father woke up to hear the news of Sarah’s crimes and her disappearance last night, he became weak. I noticed his mood, and I tried to cheer him on.

I walked up to him, “Who was that?” he asked.

I exhaled deeply, “Father, it's the police. Unfortunately, Sarah is wanted,” I spoke.

Immediately, he had a heart attack, and he held his chest very tight, and she tried to gasp for air. I narrowed my eyes as I held his hands.

“Father! Father!” I called, but he wasn't responding. Immediately, Zoey toon Jason out of the room as the nurses and doctors arrived.

The beeping monitor started beeping fast, and tears were gathering in my eyes. I watched them as they tried to stabilise him, but it was turning worse.

Just then, there was a flat line on the EKG, and the lines went flat. My eyes widened as I watched them. The nurses and doctors stopped working as they all had worried looks on their faces.

“Doctor! Whats wrong? Doctor, he is not responding,” I shouted.

They turned to me as they tried to calm me down. “I am sorry, Elena, but we tried all we could,” the doctor announced.

I oauned, and my head was spinning around. I couldn't believe it. Years started pouring down my cheeks, and I began to cry.

“No, you have to do something, please. Not now,” I screamed.

Zoey and San rushed inside the room as they tried to console me. Anna also walked in and was shocked to see what was going on.

It was a sad morning for everyone; the door was busted open when Emily walked inside. She saw her husband lying dead in the bed, and her eyes widened.

She walked up to me in anger, “You bastard, you had taken everything away from me.” She shouted, and she tried to slap me when I held her hands.

Everybody tried to stop her, and she fell to the ground and began weeping. She seeped for a while until she ran out of the room.

I stood there in silence after a while; I wanted to be alone. I couldn't say a word. I had cried my eyes out, and I didn't know what to say. I just thought about everything.

Nicklaus came in a wheelchair and tried to console me. I stayed with him, and after a while, I decided to take a stroll and catch my breath.

That's when I saw Jason standing in the parking lot. I called his name, and he was running towards me when a car stopped in front of him and took him away.

“Jason!” I shouted, my eyes widened. I quickly ran towards the speeding car as I chased after them. I shouted his name, and they zoomed off into the street of Los Angeles.

My heart stopped beating and I fell to the ground. Darkness covered me.
