Chapter 186

Elena’s POV:

He started the car, and we left for the hospital. We arrived after a short while, and I decided to go see Nicklaus first. I slowly opened the door to see Nicklaus up and active, even though he looked pale.

He smiled warmly when he set my eyes on me.

“How are you doing today?” I asked, leaning to kiss him on the forehead. “You gave us a scare.”

“I am doing just fine,” he said, and we kissed again when Sarah opened the door.

“So this is what you both had been doing in my back? You are a social climber, Elena.

“Sarah, not now. I had already signed the divorce papers. You have to play your own part,” Nicklaus spoke.

She walked up to me and gave me a daring look. “You are a scumbag,” she spoke and turned to Nicklaus. “I will make sure you pay for it,” she warned and walked out of the room.

“I have to go be with my dad right now. I will see you later,” I said and walked out of the room.

I walked to my father’s room to see my father lying weakly on the bed. I ran to him, “Father, are you okay?” I asked and reached for his hand.

“I can't believe we are related by blood. You shouldn't have returned,” she spat.

"Please, I need both of you to listen to my lawyers. I didn't call you both to fight. I am weak, and my time is near. It would be my greatest wish to see Elena forgive us. Elena, please forgive me, especially. I hurt you in many ways that I could not imagine. Do not blame Anna for her actions. I was at fault.”

I sat beside him and said, “It's okay, Father. I forgive you. Just stop doing the talking.”

“Elena, you have to promise me that you will look after the company and also make sure that Sarah takes part in running the company.”

“Yes, I will, Father.”

The lawyer opened his briefcase and shared some files with us. “These are documents that the company had shared between the both of you; you both are now owners of the company and all its properties,” he spoke.

My eyes widened, and I looked at my father. He smiled at me. “You both aren't daughters, and I have shared all of my properties with both of you.”

“Bullshit!” Sarah shouted and tore the papers into pieces. “Over my dead body will I see you inherit any of my father’s company. You don't deserve anything. You deserve to be dead just like how you have been all these years,” she shouted.

“Sarah!” My father called:

She turned to him. I am your only biological child, and I will not live to see Sarah have a cut in the company,” she shouted.

“What do you know about running a company? Do you have any idea? Do you even know what they do in that company?” I asked her, but she kept quiet. “That's how it should be. You should even be happy I am trying to bring the company back to its feet,” I snarled.

She walked up to me and gave me a daring look. I also gave her a stern look. I had to learn to stand up for myself, and I won't let anybody ride me anymore.

“You will regret this,” she said and stormed out of the room. The room was silent, and I turned to the lawyer. “Thank you so much,” I said.

“You are welcome. I will take my leave right now,” he said and walked away.

Emily also walked on us, leaving just me and my father. I sat beside him, and he held my hands.

“Elena,” he called.

“Yes, father,” I turned to him.

“I am sorry for everything and how interesting you were in the past. I am so ashamed of myself right now. I searched for you all over, but I couldn't find you. I was so carried away with wealth that I didn't even notice all of your effort. I am truly proud of you, Elena,” he spoke and held my hands.

“It's alright, father, I forgive you.” I said,

“Please don't take it out on Anna. She is your mother. I was so stupid to let her go back then. I regret my actions,” he explained, then the door was opened and nurse Grey walked inside.

My countenance changed. I turned to my father and said, "It's alright, father. You need to rest and get better. I have to go check on Nicklaus. Excuse me,” I said and walked out of the room.

My mother tried to hold me. I could see the worried look on her face, but I didn't give her a chance. I closed the door behind me and rested on it.

“It's fine, Anna, just give her time,” I heard my father talking inside.

I exhaled deeply and walked to Nicklaus’s ward. I opened the door to see Sarah standing beside him as she pressed a pillow on his head. He was struggling to breathe.

My eyes widened, and I quickly grabbed a flower vase and hit her on the head. “Let go of him.”

“Ah!” Sarah screened and fell on the ground. I rushed to Nicklaus to see if he was doing alright.

“Nicklaus, are you alright? Did she turf you?” I asked as I scammed his body,

“I am fine, Elena; I never knew I got married to a devil.”

“Elena, watch out,” Nicklaus shouted, but Sarah had already gripped my head and hung me on the wall.

I turned around and punched her in the face three times, and she fell on the floor. I struggled with her, and immediately she ran out of the room.

“Thank you, Elena. You have to get the police. Sarah confessed to be the one behind my accident. ” Nicklaus spoke.

My eyes widened, and my jaw dropped. “What?”
