Chapter 185

Elena's POV:

“Nicklaus!” I called as I ran with the nurses and the doctors inside the emergency.

“Nicklaus please. Nicklaus, please,” I pleased.

They ran into the theatre, and I was stopped at the doorway.

“Madam, you have to wait here. We will do all out best to revive him,” one of the nurses said to me.

I stood there in confusion. I couldn't think or do anything. I just wish the ground would open right now and swallow me up. Why is Nicklaus here? He is badly injured.

I broke down in tears. Zoey ran to me and consoled me. My body was shaking with sobbing, and I couldn't breathe properly.

Just now that I have decided to give Nicklaus a chance, all of this is happening to me. I cried so hard that I didn't take it anymore. It was too much to bear. The doctors were taking so long. They had been operating him all night long.

Everything felt so overwhelming. That was when Nicklaus and all of his family arrived. His father, cousins, uncles, and aunties. Nicklaus Butler was with them. Immediately, I stood up and walked out on all of them.

I couldn't even stand to see their faces anymore. These were the people who betrayed me, and they would do it again if they had the chance to do it.

I walked to the chapel and decided to calm my head for some time. I stood there crying my eyes out. Everything seemed so overwhelming, and I couldn't help but cry my eyes out.

I didn't want to go back in there. My father was lying in there, waiting for my forgiveness, my mother, and Nicklaus. I can't even stand anybody right now. I just wanted to be on my own. To clear my head.

If I had known returning to Los Angeles would bring me back hidden truths that would hurt me like this, I would have just stayed back.

I lay on the chair and slept off. After a while, I woke up in the morning. I felt refreshed even though my eyes were still red and puffy.

I walked back into the ward to see everyone sitting in the hallway. Zoey walked to me and wrapped her arms around me. “Where have you been?” She asked.

“I have been at the chapel,” I said when I saw Alex and Jason walking toward me.

“Mummy, you didn't come home last night. I waited for you all night long,” Jason spoke.

I bent down and cupped my hands in his face. “I'm so sorry, my love. I lost track of time.” I said and held him right.

Nicklaus’s father and all of his relatives fixed their eyes on me, but I acted like I didn't see any of them. I turned to Zoey. “Has the doctor said anything yet? What's the update?” I asked.

Zoey smiled, “Nicklaus is fine. He is rested now. He had been asking after you all night long,” she said.

“I would like to go see him right now,” I said and walked into the room. Nicklaus's father walked after me. I turned to look at him.

“Well, my son has been asking after you. I would like to see him too,” he said.

I sighed and was about to speak when Jason walked inside. "Mummy, can I stay with you? I want to see Uncle Nicklaus,” he spoke.

“No, Jason,”

“It's fine; you both should stay.” I heard a voice. I turned around and saw Nicklaus on the bed with his eyes slightly open. His voice was a bit hoarse.

I ran to him, “Nicklaus, you are awake.” I spoke.

“Yes, Elena,” he spoke. “Where-”

“It's fine. I am here now. You need to rest.” I said.

Jason walked inside and held his hands. I looked at her, and deep down I felt so guilty for hiding the truth from everyone. I do not know how I would tell Nicklaus and also his father that Jason is their blood.

After a while, Nicklaus went back to sleep, and Mr. Coleman walked up to me and said, “Elena, its best if you get some rest. You look tired. I will look after my son,” Coleman spoke.

“It's fine,” I replied without protesting. I knew that I had to get some rest and process everything that had been going okay.

Nicklaus looked at me and smiled while holding a look at Jason's hands. “My father is right, Elena. You should get some rest. I will be fine,” he said.

"Mummy, please, can I stay with Uncle Nicklaus and his father?” Jason asked.

“No-” I wanted to protest when Zoey tapped my shoulder.

“It's fine, Elena. Your father needs you right now. After that, just go back home and get some rest,” she spoke.

“Alright then, I need to check on my father first,” I said and walked away.
