Chapter 125

Elena’s POV:

I arrived in Oregon together with Zoey; we stepped out of the car onto the street. I looked around the unfamiliar surroundings before entering her apartment.

I felt a little bit of relief that I had left Los Angeles, along with the painful memories and toxic relationship that was holding me back. I am here to start over again. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but I was willing to stand up and fight for myself this time around.

Zoey noticed my mood as we walked into the house. “Elena, are you okay?” She asked, raising her eyebrows and giving me a questioning look.

I looked at her and smiled nervously, “Yes, I am fine.” I spoke, trying to brush it off, but Zoey knew me too well. I could tell she didn't believe me.

She walked up to me and said, “I know it is not easy for you because you are starting life from the start, but I want you to know that your happiness lies with this decision and you will find your strength again.

Zoey reached for my hand and squeezed it gently. I looked up at her and smiled, “Thank you, Zoey. Thank you for always being by my side.” I said.

“We are sisters, Elena. Even though we are not related by blood. I love you,” she said.

I nodded my head, and tears started to fill my eyes. “I love you too,” I said, wrapping my arms around her tightly.

We pulled away and both chuckled as we cleaned tears from our eyes. “Well, it's going to be great in Oregon. I can feel it,” I spoke.

“Let me show you to your room,” Zoey said and stood up. I followed up behind her. “I had to quickly fix this Yo so that you will be comfortable,” she said as we walked into the room.

The room was beautifully decorated with white furniture and paintings. My jaw dropped as I scanned the whole place.

“Wow, this is so beautiful. Thank you for fixing this up for me, Zoey. You are the best,” I said.

“It's fine, Elena. Now freshen up and come join me for dinner. I just ordered pasta,” she spoke and walked out of the room.

I exhaled loudly, feeling a little relieved to have my own space and my own freedom, and I wasn't afraid to start life over again.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror and held my hands to my abdomen. I can't believe that I am already twelve weeks pregnant.

I smiled, “I am going to be strong for you, my love. We are going to go through this journey of life together, and I will make sure that you never lack. My little one,” I whispered.

My tummy had been growing big, and I had gained a little weight. I loved the change in my body because I knew that something good was coming out of this whole challenge that I faced.

I had my bath and changed into some fresh clothes. I walked out of the room to see Zoey preparing the table. The aroma of the pasta filled the air.

I sniffed in, and my stomach growled. “This smells great; I can't wait to dig in.” I walked over to the table and sat down.

Zoey and I had dinner and watched a movie together. I felt grateful for this beautiful moment.

After dinner, I sat by the window and watched the beautiful stars as they glitter. I reached for my phone and decided to scroll through the internet since it had been a long time and surfed the net.

Then, I came across Nicklaus's video on a popular blog. He was sitting close to Sarah at the coffee shop. They looked so happy. The picture was posted some minutes ago.

I watched the video for a few minutes with my heart sinking, and I turned off my phone, watching the screen go blank. Nicklaus had never cared about me, so I would not let it get to me.

I couldn't hold back the emotions that I had been holding back for weeks. I wanted to scream and cry my eyes out, but I wouldn't bring myself to do it.

I lay on my bed and wiped the tears streaming down my face. I was determined never to let myself weep for any man again.

I lay there and took a deep breath. My eyelids were heavy. I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep with my hands on my stomach.
