Elena’s POV:
It’s been a week since Nicklaus' wedding with my sister, and I have not been myself since then. I thought I had gotten over him and that I would easily move on and forget the pain, but I was mistaken.
I hadn't left the house all week; I had not touched my phone; I had not spoken to anyone, not even Alex or Zoey. I was unable to face the outside world. I just wanted to be left alone and have some time to think things through.
But this morning, I woke up very early in the morning, and I felt happy that I could get enough sleep all night long, and it gave me a little bit of relief.
I looked around and decided to do something different, to take control of my life again. I rolled out of bed and walked to my closet. I arranged my clothes, folding and packing them in my box, and signed deeply, trying to let go of the past and start living again.
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and it was swung open. Alex was standing in the doorway and walked inside the room.
“Elena, good morning.” He greeted me; his voice was soft and gentle. He walked inside the room with a mug of coffee.
“Good morning, Alex,” I spoke and sat on the bed. “Please sit,” I spoke, gently tapping the bed beside me for him to sit down.
Alex quietly sat down; he was shocked to see that I was speaking to him since I hadn't spoken to anyone in one week.
“Elena,” he called me gently.
“Alex, we need to talk,” I said and exhaled. “I am sorry for pouring my anger out on you the other day, and I am sorry I have avoided you; nothing was ever your fault. I realised that I was only angry at myself, and I needed time to think.”
He fixed his eyes on me and watched me speak without saying a word.
“Alex,” I called. “I had been thinking about moving out.”
He tried to object, opening his mouth to speak, but I cut him off. “This had nothing to do with you or the quarrel we had. It's me. I need to start living now that I have regained my freedom. I need to make myself useful so that I can build a better life for me and my unborn child.”
Immediately, the door was swung open, and I was stunned to see who walked into the room. “Zoey?” I called, narrowing my eyes. “What did you arrive at?”
“She arrived last night, but you were asleep, so she slept in my room,” Alex spoke.
“Pregnant?” Zoey asked, narrowing her eyes and fixing her gaze on me. Her voice was filled with surprise. “Why didn't you tell me, Elena?”
I nodded my head and fixed my eyes on the floor. “Yes, Zoey. I am pregnant. I was too overwhelmed to share the news with anyone because I didn't know what to do. I just needed time to process all that had happened.”
I expected Zoey to be angry, but she walked close to me and sat on the bed. She hugged me tightly, and I wrapped my arms around her, feeling the comfort.
“I thought you would be angry at me for keeping it a secret.”
Zoey shook her head, and her facial expression softened. “Why would I be angry? This is good news, and I know how much you have always wanted a child. I understand everything you had been through made you stay away from everyone, and you needed it,” she spoke. “Why didn't you come to me? You know I am always here for you.”
“So you are not mad at me for not taking your calls and replying to your texts?”
“Sometimes, it's good to disappear and isolate yourself from the world until you get better and ready to face the world again,” she spoke.
“Elena, urm… Zoey and I had decided to give each other a chance,” Alex spoke.
My face lit up, and I was feeling excited. “Really?”
They both nodded their heads as they looked at each other.
“Aw,” I am so happy about that. It's high time you both become a couple, and I cannot wait to become a godmother,” I spoke, and we all giggled.
I reached for Zoey and wrapped my arms around her. “I am so proud of you,” I said, gently squeezing her hands.
“Thank you, Elena, for opening my eyes,” Alex said. “You helped me see what was right in front of me; we make a great team, don't we?"
“Come here,” I spoke, and we all hugged each other in a group hug.
When we pulled away, I decided to confess, “I have a confession.”
“I have decided to move out of Los Angeles, and I am ready to chase my dreams,” I spoke. “Well, I wanted to go to Seattle.” I spoke, looking at Zoey’s reaction.
“Why didn't you choose Oregon? So we could stay together,” she spoke.
“But I got a job in Oregon,” I said, and we all cheered.
“That's so great, Elena. Now we get to see each other every day,” Zoey said.
“Yes, the pay is not much, but it will keep me going for starters, and my scholarship in the culinary school in Oregon got approached,” I announced.
Zoey screamed in excitement and wrapped her arms around me tight. She pulled away and gave Alex a tight hug. When she pulled away, there was a chemistry between them, and they were lost in each other's gaze.
"Yall are common; you will get used to it. As a retired lover girl, you both don't have to be shy,” I spoke and giggled.
Elena’s POV:I arrived in Oregon together with Zoey; we stepped out of the car onto the street. I looked around the unfamiliar surroundings before entering her apartment. I felt a little bit of relief that I had left Los Angeles, along with the painful memories and toxic relationship that was holding me back. I am here to start over again. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but I was willing to stand up and fight for myself this time around. Zoey noticed my mood as we walked into the house. “Elena, are you okay?” She asked, raising her eyebrows and giving me a questioning look.I looked at her and smiled nervously, “Yes, I am fine.” I spoke, trying to brush it off, but Zoey knew me too well. I could tell she didn't believe me.She walked up to me and said, “I know it is not easy for you because you are starting life from the start, but I want you to know that your happiness lies with this decision and you will find your strength again. Zoey reached for my hand and squeezed it gent
New BeginningsElena Williams woke up to the sound of her alarm ringing loudly. She let out a huge sigh and reached for the alarm clock before turning it off. This is not how I planned to start my day. I had planned to start my day feeling energetic, but it was quite the opposite. She lay on her back, laid on her back, placed her hand on her forehead, and let out a frustrated groan. She felt tired and exhausted, and she didn't even know how she would get up from her bed into the bathroom. Just then she heard a knock on her door: “Wake up, Elena. It's your interview this morning,” Zoey shouted outside the room.Elena rolled out of bed when she realised that it was getting late already and walked into the bathroom behind her as she felt the cool times on the floor. She quickly had her bath and changed into a cooperate outfit. She packed her hair into a sleek bun and applied a little bit of make-up to frame her face. She stepped outside the front pouch and inhaled deeply as the sweet
Sarah blinked her eyes open as she felt the morning sun rays on her. She had never felt this good and satisfied. She is now living her life as Mrs. Sarah Coleman, and that alone is her greatest achievement. Of course, she works up to an empty bed. Nicklaus was nowhere to be found; she could care less about it, but it was slowly getting to her.Nicklaus had been out of time for weeks, taking care of business, and he was happy to be away. He had never been happy since he got married to Sarah. He could not wait for his child to be born; maybe that would give him a reason to be happy again.Sarah’s phone buzzed, and she reached for it. Seeing the caller ID, she knew it was something serious and picked up the call.“Have you found him?” she asked, her voice deep. “Yes, ma'am. He is in the warehouse,” the voice game from the other end of the line.“Good, I will be there soon; just make sure you do your job. Keep an eye on him.” She spoke and hung up. She looked at the empty bed and let o
The drive home was a silent one, and I couldn't wait to get home. I felt satisfied with what I had done, but I had been feeling angry all day.Lying to everyone about Nicklaus taking care of me was getting on my nerves. I wanted us to be together always just like he and Elena were but he doesn't seem to be looking in my direction.I don't even know where he is, what he is doing right now, or when he will come back home. Is he even in the country? It felt sad that I had to be alone in this pregnancy journey. I can't take it anymore, I must do something to make Nicklaus come back home. I hurriedly did a U-turn and diverted to my mother's house. I had to let everything out. I know that she would have a way to sort this out.”The iron gate was opened, and I drove inside the building. I parked close to the front pouch and quickly went to the rooftop where my mother would be.I walked to her, putting on a long face. “What's wrong, Sarah? Don't you feel good?” She asked, her eyes filled wit
Sarah’s POV:I slowly regained consciousness and blinked my eyes open after rubbing them a few times. I saw my Nicklaus standing in front of me, and he gently held my arms. I smiled weakly and turned to the other side of the room to see my parents standing beside me."Oh, my baby,” my mother said and gently squeezed my hands. “I'm glad you are awake. You gave us a scare,” my mother said. Her blue eyes sparkled, and I could feel her excitement. My father smiled at me and kissed me on the forehead. “I'm glad you are awake,” he spoke.I nodded my head and smiled at them. “Thank you, everyone, for being here for me,” I said weakly.Just then, the door was opened, and the doctor came. It was the doctor from the morning who had injected me earlier. “Good morning, Sarah, How are you feeling today?” she said with a smile on her face.“Good morning, doctor; I feel the way better.” I spoke weakly. She walked close to me and checked the drip. Nicklaus's eyes were on me the whole time, and I
5 years later. Elena’s pov. “Mummy! Mummy mummy! Wake up,”I heard a little voice coming from the side of my bed.“Good morning, mummy,” he greetedI rubbed my eyes with the back of my palm, and it fluttered open. He was smiling widely and full of excitement. His blue eyes sparkled “Good morning, baby, Did you sleep well?” I askedHe nodded his head. "Yes, mummy, I did,” he spoke.I moved closer to him and kissed him on the forehead. I rubbed my fingers through his messy hair. My baby Jason, wave, had been everything to me. He had been my pride and my joy. He seems to be growing up so quickly, but watching him grow seems to be the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. Before I gave birth to him, I knew when his name would be when I first moved to the city of Oregon. I knew exactly what his name would be because his pregnancy brought me peace and strength. We may have faced so many hard times together, but we still had our good times. With waves by my side, nothing was im
“Well, you should know that your dad is always watching you from afar. Now I am your mother and your father,” I spoke.Jason was asking more questions about his dad as the day passed by. I could not understand why he always brought up the topic.“My friends in school always talk about their fathers and how he would be okay with them, and I do not have any story to tell. Does that mean that I do not have a father?” he asked. I paused for a while. I didn't know how I answered such questions. I knew something like this would happen someday. At that moment, all I could do was lean in close to him and wrap my arms around him. I couldn't lie to him, and I could not tell him the truth. “Your father is coming soon, but you know that you always have me. Whenever they talk about their fathers, talk about me and the adventures we had done together,” I said. He nodded his head and lay on my arms. The question about his father was becoming more obvious. I have always tried my best to be a fat
I arrived at my school. I looked up at the signboard, “School of Culinary, Oregon.” I signed when I read the writings, and I felt even more of myself. I will graduate from here in a few weeks, and I cannot wait to be independent and have my own restaurant. I will also become an international chef, which will make me go global. When I was lost in thought, I heard a voice calling behind me, “Elle, Elle,” it called.I turned around, and Sam was walking towards me with a wide smile on his face. He stopped in his tracks when he came close to me. “Good morning, same. How are you doing?” I asked.“I'm doing great; I got you a rose,” he said, handing me a rose. “Wow, thank you. It's so beautiful,” I said and thanked him. Same has been a very good friend of mine since I started this school. We started at the same time, and we made a good pair. I don't even know how I could make it through this school without his support. Sam Michael had grey eyes, light brown hair, was six feet tall, and
