Sarah’s POV:
I quickly walked upstairs into the hallway when I heard voices coming from downstairs. My father and Elena are at it again. It seems they are both exchanging words, and I couldn’t care less about it.
I increased my pace while I tiptoed so that I wouldn't be caught. I just needed to do what had brought me here without anybody suspecting me. Deep down, I was excited that things were getting heated down there. I hoped it would last to buy enough time for myself.
Now I have to make use of this opportunity, so I hastened my steps and hurriedly stepped into Elena's room. I walked into Nicklaus’s room, but somehow the room was empty. I looked around, but I didn't see a trace of Elena’s stuff.
I couldn't understand what was going on. Had she moved out of their room already? That would be a question for some other time. I quickly moved out and opened the different rooms when I found where Elena's stuff was. I realised that Elena and Nicklaus's marriage had taken a different turn and that they were no longer staying in the same room.
I walked inside and quietly closed the door behind me. I scanned the whole room, and I stood behind the door, looking for a convenient place to find the documents because time was not on my side. This is a big win for me. Things are falling into place for me, and destiny is coming to pass.
I rushed into the closet and kept searching for a better place until my eyes stumbled on a black purse hanging on the shelves. It looked so beautiful but was the least bag that anyone would suspect.
I pressed my lips into a thin line and quickly placed it in the bag. I kept it back in the right position, and I exhaled deeply, feeling relieved. I was about to leave when the door was swung open.
“What are you doing here?” Irina asked with her eyes fixed on me. She was holding some silky sheets in her hands. She halted at the doorway, and she gave me a questioning look.
“I had to use the restroom,” I said. My voice cracked a little. I tried to hide how nervous I became, but my boy betrayed me.
“No, I say you are searching through the closet; what are you doing here? Why didn't you use the other restrooms?” She confronted me, and her voice was firm.
I had to do something fast to avoid being caught and to change the subject. I held my tummy in my hands and whinced in pain.
“Oh no, my stomach,” I said. She stood in the doorway, watching me. “I feel so weak; what could be wrong with me?” I spoke, trying to wince in pain.
Immediately I heard a sound from the hallway; it was Elena, and I pretended to be in so much pain and cried louder.
“Auch… I don't feel so good,” I cried out with my hands in my stomach.
Elena ran into the room, and her face was filled with worry as she walked up to me. “Sarah, are you alright?” she asked. I could see her becoming worried.
I nodded my head and said, “Yes, I am fine.” I said. “I just need to go catch up with my father. I do feel so good. I was searching for a painkiller, but I will drop by the pharmacy. I think I ate the wrong meal today,” I said nervously.
“Ma,” Irina tried to say, but Elena shut her up. She kept listening to her attentively.
"Irina, please go get some water for my sister,” she ordered. Irina sighed and gave me a daring look before walking out of the room.
Elena rushed up to me and said, “You should wait behind and get some rest. She spoke and placed me on the bed.
I held her gently as I relaxed my head. I faced the other side of the bed and smiled, feeling satisfied. I had been having pregnancy symptoms, and deep down, I knew that I was with a child already. My stomach didn't hurt the way I pretended for it to.
I just wished to stay behind and watch the drama, but it would be so obvious, so I jumped out of bed immediately. “I would have loved to stay, but I have an appointment with the doctor by 2,” I said, glancing at the wall clock.
“Please go see the doctor so you will get better,” she said, and I managed to be out of the house. When I stepped out of the front building, I turned around and smiled while scanning the whole area.
Very soon, all of this will be mine alone, and I will be the new Mrs. Coleman. I turned around, placed my hand on my stomach, and walked away. Feeling satisfied that everything went smoothly.
Irina has nothing against me, and when I finally come into this mansion as the lady of the house, I will make sure she is the first person that I kick out.
Sarah walked out of the house, joining her father in the car with a satisfied smile on her face.“Father, I heard noises. I hope you didn't take it too hard on yourself,” she asked calmly. “No, I didn't. Someone just needs to put Elena in her place,” he responded, his face filled with so much worry. Sarah tried to calm her father and assured him that everything would be alright. She knew that if her plans worked, then her father would have more than he had in his company. Nicklaus had discharged all of the board members after he found out who sold his shares, and he immediately sent for Mr. Xavier again. He wanted to make sure that he was clear on the issue before taking action. “He will be sued if he doesn't arrive in my office in the next 30 minutes,” he said. He kept on wondering in his heart while all these allegations were pointing towards Elene. He had known her to be so sweet and innocent. “Is Elena not who she claims to be? I thought she was innocent and kind-hearted,” h
Elena’s POV:I lay on my bed, still sobbing from an argument I just had with my dad. I hadn't felt this used in my life. All they just wanted was for me to fulfil my own part of the deal. I was even feeling satisfied that Nicklaus and I had found love, but I couldn't understand what was going on. There was nobody to stand up and fight for me. I am weak. Irina sat beside me as she consoled me. I cried continuously when I heard a loud sound coming from the hallway.I sat upright and whipped my eyes while giving Irinaa a questioning look. “Who are those?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. I quickly stood up and opened the door when I saw Nicklaus and three of his bodyguards. Nicklaus's eyes fell on me. “Oh, there you are,” he said, and he walked into my room. I quickly stood up. “Nicklaus, what's going on?” I asked, narrowing my eyes and waiting for answers. He scanned the room and fixed his eyes on me. “I see you have moved into this room. What are you hiding?” He asked, boring deeply in
Elena’ POV:My eyes were wide open, and I was taken aback by what had just happened. What could we be talking about? Was I dumb enough to sign on some dumb papar, or was this a set-up?I raised my head to look at Nicklaus and everybody. The bodyguards worked out of the room, and my eyes landed on everyone standing in the doorway. I felt embarrassed, and I felt like the ground should open up and swallow me. My father walked out of the room immediately, and Sarah followed him from behind. Irina and Zoey quickly walked out of the room, leaving me and Nicklaus alone in the room. Tears rolled down my cheeks, and I didn't know when I started sobbing. Nicklaus gave me a daring look. He walked up to me, his eyes never leaving mine. “Cut that shit and wipe these crocodile tears. Now I know what your mission is in this marriage. Do you know who I am that you are trying to steal from me?” I took a step forward and held onto his hand. “Nicklaus, please. I have no idea what is going on,” I pl
Nicklaus’s POV:I stormed out of the room in anger. Elena couldn't even prove herself, which means everything was true. She claimed to love me, but it had been a plot all this time to steal from me. I hurriedly walked out of the room; my feet were heavy with pain and anger. I walked down the hallway, and footsteps echoed in the hallway. I walked out of the house to the waiting car parked in front of the building, collected the keys from the driver, and took the driver's seat. I adjusted the mirrors, tightened my seat belts, and put the car into gear. I zoomed off into the streets of Los Angeles.I was driving at full speed, and my anger was rising. My hands held the shell tightly, and I felt a rush of adrenaline in my body. I just wanted to go far away—away from my problems, away from Elena. Was she in touch with her ex-fiance? Was she planning to use my money and run away with him? I think that is the reason she always had nightmares. Did he threaten her to do it because she could
Sarah followed her father from behind as they arrived at the house. Mr. Williams angrily walked out of the car and went into the house. He walked straight to the study, and he could feel his blood boiling through his veins. He could not imagine Elena carrying out such an act. He didn't even know what to believe. She had been helping him out with his company, and not a single dime went missing, which made him ask himself a question. Was he just afraid of standing up for Elena so that the Coleman family wouldn't take it out on him and end their collaboration with his company? If he had stood for Elena, he knew that he would be risking everything, so he just kept quiet. Sarah followed her father from behind, and he sat on the chair and poured a glass of whisky into his cup. He gulped it down immediately, and his eyes reddened. He doesn't even know how to react.“Father, please take it easy on yourself,” she said, trying to calm him down. Knowing that everything would be alright soon b
Nicklaus’s POV:I walked into my office building and ignored all of the greetings from my employees. I removed my jacket and hung it on the hanger. My eyes were heavy as I sat in my office chair. It was a new day, and I had not gotten enough rest. I could barely sleep last night after the whole drama with Elena. I slept alone last night in my other penthouse, thinking it would help me, but it didn't. I wanted my space and to be away from Elena. I decided to work for some time before taking a quick break. I checked all of the blueprints and made some corrections. I quietly made out all of the errors and asked them to do it again. They wouldn't like to see my angry mode if I allowed myself to lose control. “This blueprint has a lot of corrections,” I said on the intercom as I communicated with one of the teams. “I pointed out the errors by making circles; get them done before the end of today,” I ordered before hanging up. I was typing on my laptop when a knock came through my doo
Nicklaus's eyes widened, and he stared at the paper. His jaw dropped, and it felt like he was having a nightmare. The test result boldly proved that Sarah was indeed pregnant, but he became even more confused. He creased his brows and wondered why Sarah was showing him her pregnancy. He didn't quite understand, but he remembered waking up next to her in bed. He looked at Sarah and spoke up. “How does your pregnancy stop us from pulling out of your father's company?” he asked, fixing his gaze on her and waiting patiently for her response. Sarah smiled and crossed her hands against her chest. She knew that she had just won a jackpot and that she would become Nicklaus’s wife. She was also glad that she came at the right time when his father was present. “Well, Mr. Nicklaus Coleman, I am pregnant for you,” she spilt. Nicklaus's eyes widened, and his father looked at Sarah with his eyes widening and his jaw dropping. He didn't understand what was going on, and he needed more clarity.
Elena’s POV:I stayed in my room all morning without going anywhere. I woke up on the floor and soaked it in my sweat. My eyes were still filled with tears, and I had a hiccup from so much crying. There was a knock on the door, and a familiar voice spoke up: “Good morning, ma'am; it's Irina. May I come in?” she asked.I sniffed and exhaled. “Come in,” I said, wiping my eyes. The door was opened slowly, and she rushed to me, seeing the state that I was in. “Ma’am, are you alright?” she asked, scanning my whole body and looking around."Ma’am, did you even get so much sleep?” she asked.I ignored her and spoke up, “Irina, prepare my bath. I need to have my bath,” I said, my voice cracking and barely above a whisper. It was very hard for me to raise my voice and speak.“Right away, ma'am,” she said, and she walked into the closet. She turned on the bath water and mixed the essential oils. The lovely fragrance filled the room. All my bones were hurting from lying on the floor, but I man
