Elena’s POV:
I stayed in my room all morning without going anywhere. I woke up on the floor and soaked it in my sweat. My eyes were still filled with tears, and I had a hiccup from so much crying.
There was a knock on the door, and a familiar voice spoke up: “Good morning, ma'am; it's Irina. May I come in?” she asked.
I sniffed and exhaled. “Come in,” I said, wiping my eyes.
The door was opened slowly, and she rushed to me, seeing the state that I was in. “Ma’am, are you alright?” she asked, scanning my whole body and looking around.
"Ma’am, did you even get so much sleep?” she asked.
I ignored her and spoke up, “Irina, prepare my bath. I need to have my bath,” I said, my voice cracking and barely above a whisper. It was very hard for me to raise my voice and speak.
“Right away, ma'am,” she said, and she walked into the closet. She turned on the bath water and mixed the essential oils. The lovely fragrance filled the room.
All my bones were hurting from lying on the floor, but I managed to drag my feet into the bathroom.
I got into the bathtub, and the water helped me feel relaxed. I closed my eyes and calmed my nerves.
After a short while, I cleaned up and changed into some fresh clothes. I packed my hair in a messy bun and walked into the bedroom, trying to distract myself and engage in something else.
Irina had finished cleaning the messy bedroom, and the chef served me breakfast in my room.
After eating, I lay on the bed and slowly drifted off to sleep.

“No, don't leave me, please." I shouted in my sleep, and I opened my eyes immediately to see Nicklaus standing in front of me and watching me.
His eyes were cold, and he gave me a daring look. I sat upright and got out of bed, hoping I could talk things out with Nicklaus.
“Elena, I have just one question to ask you, and I need you to answer me honestly,” he said, and I nodded my head.
“Are you pregnant?” he asked.
I gave a calculative look and shook my head tirelessly. “No, I am not.” I responded.
Nicklaus cussed under his breath; he ran his hand through his hair, and he dropped the envelope on the floor close to me. “That's for you. Go through it. I have no time to waste,” he said.
He walked around the room cussing under his breath.
I bent down and picked up the envelope. I slowly opened it, and what my eyes saw made my head slam hard against my chest.
“A divorce paper?” I asked
Nicklaus gave me a stern look as he stood on the other side of the room with one hand in his pocket and the other hand holding a cigarette.
My eyes became watery as I stared at the divorce papers. My husband's signature was already on it.
“You have to hurry up and sign the damn papers, Elena. You haven't honoured your part of this marriage, and since you plan to bring me down, I have to divorce you,” he said. His voice was rising,
I was stunned, and my limbs were numb instantly. I quickly held on to the table stand for support. “Nicklaus, why would you do that? You haven't even given me a chance to prove myself to you,” I cried.
“Elena, you are not even able to get pregnant and give me an heir. My feelings for you were true, but you threw them away in the mud,” Nicklaus responded.
“I am innocent, Nicklaus. I have no idea where all these came from. Why can't you believe me? I pleaded. “I will get pregnant with time,” I spoke.
“Stop it now, Elena. Just stop it,” he responded, his voice rising.
I felt like my heart had been pierced into a thousand pieces. Tears rolled down my cheeks, and my chest tightened. I used my hand to hold onto the tablestand from falling off.
I walked towards Nicklaus. I wasn't ready to sign the papers and divorce my husband.
“Nicklaus, this marriage is my life. I have nowhere else to go or to run to. Please don't do this to me. I have found happiness in you and in this house. Please let's work this out.”
“Elena, you are nothing but a ruthless woman. How do you expect me to believe you when all the evidence has been recovered?” He shouted, fixing his gaze on me.
There was silence in the room, and he broke eye contact and spoke up, his eyes boring into mine, “You are shameless. Your aim is not to get pregnant so that my father won't hand all of his enterprises to you,” he shouted.
My heart skipped. I tightened my fist and walked to him. “So this means it is all about your inheritance, Nicklaus. You don't even care about the baby; rather, you care about becoming the richest and most powerful. You are selfish.” I spat; my chest was rising and falling. I was filled with anger.
Elena‘s words caught him off guard, and he became mute immediately. That's when he realised that he had never really cared; all he just wanted was the child so that he could acquire more wealth.Nicklaus's phone rang immediately, and she felt relieved from the distractions. He reached out into his pocket and took out the phone to see who it was. The call didn't last for 30 seconds, and he hung up the call.He turned to Elena and said, “You better sign the divorce paper before I get back or deal with the consequences.” He warned, turning on his heels and walking out of the room.Elena sat on the floor with tears streaming down her face. She could not imagine how her life could totally change in a few months. Just when she thought her life had changed for the better.“I know he is capable of this, but could it be that he set me up?” she asked herself but shook her head immediately. Her hands trembled as she looked at the divorce papers. The more she looked at it, the more everything lo
Nicklaus halted in his tracks, and his eyes widened. He turned around and fixed his gaze on Mr. Mike. “What do you mean she left the house? He asked. He didn't wait for Mr. Mike’s response. He walked into her room to search for her, but she was nowhere to be found. His eyes fell on the divorce papers on the bed, and he picked them up.He saw that she had already signed the papers, and his heart pounded hard against his chest. “Fuck!” he exclaimed. Why would she leave the house without telling me? He wondered to himself. Where would she go because he knew that her family would not accept her? Nicklaus brought out his car keys and walked into the hallway, but something made him stop in his tracks. He wondered what he was doing. “Elena is not a child; she can take care of herself. I don't care where she goes to. We are already divorced,” he said and walked to his room. He turned on the shower and allowed the cold water to cascade down his body.Meanwhile, Elena walked alone in the st
Elena’s POV:I looked to see a car stopped in front of me, and the car door was opened. A tall guy came down the car and approached me. The figure looked so much like Nicklaus, but when he came closer, it was a completely different person. It was Alex.He stood tall, and his looks were imposing; his facial expression was serious. “Let go of her,” he ordered the guys, and they all giggled. “And if we don't? What are you going to do, man?” one of the guys asked. He turned around and stood in front of Alex.Alex gave them a daring look, and they slowly moved away. “Hey, bro. Relax. We only wanted to have fun. You can have her,” they said and walked out. Alex's eyes fell on him, and he rushed to sit close to me. “Elena, why are you out here alone?” he asked. I exhaled deeply and gathered the courage to speak. “Well, I have nowhere else to go,” I responded with a trembling voice.“Come with me; you need to get rest,” he spoke. I held on to him, and he opened the car door for me. It w
It was morning, and Elena’s eyes opened. She stirred on the bed and stretched her body while yawning. She had not had a good sleep in a long time. She felt really happy for Alex coming to her rescue. What would have happened to her if she was put there alone? Somehow she thought Nicklaus would come to her, but he didn't. Alex woke up very early to prepare breakfast for Elena. He tried all of his best to help her relax. Seeing the way she broke down yesterday. When he was done cocking, he nervously arranged the meal on a wooden tray and walked up to her doorway, gently knocking on her door.“Come in,” she responded as she sat upright on the bed. Alex walked into the room with a smile on his face. “Good morning, Elena. I hope you rested well,” “Good morning, yes, I did thank you,” she responded and smiled.“You prepared breakfast this early?” she asked as she looked at the tray."Well, you need to eat something and refuel,” he spoke while walking to meet her. Elena perceived the n
Elena’s POV:Tears effortlessly rolled down my cheeks. He is not wrong after all. My father might not have mentioned it to me, but I knew he was patiently waiting for me to play my own part in the contracof the marriage. I have tried very hard to conceive, but it was as if the stress of everything was making all of my efforts in vain.“And there she goes with her fake tears,” Sarah spoke up. “Oh, don't give me that look. You know exactly what I am talking about,”“You are a shame to this family and to yourself, Elena. I regret the day I picked you up from the street into this family,” my father spoke. My eyes widened, and my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe such words would come out of my father's mouth.I sobbed continuously, and Alex held me in his arms. I have had enough, and I have to say my mind.“Father, you have always said those words to me. I know that I am not a Williams, and if you knew you would always use this against me, maybe you shouldn't have picked me up from the st
Elena stood there in shock. She didn't believe that these two had been playing her all along. Nicklaus walked up to her with the coldest look she had ever seen, and tears streamed down her eyes. She shook her head tirelessly. “No, this isn't true,” she said.Nicklaus closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. “It is the truth, Elena,” he confessed. “How could you do this to me, Nicklaus? You made me fall in love, and all this while you have had an eye for my sister,” I shouted.Sarah shut me up. “I am not your sister. Besides, we are not related by blood,” she spoke; her voice was stern. "Elena, you couldn't give my son what he wants. Sarah could,” Nicklaus's father spoke while walking forward to Elena.“Nicklaus I loved you,” Elena spoke and walked up to him. Holding his jacket while sobbing. “We love each other. I know you still feel something got me deep down. We can't let this marriage die off,”“The marriage is over, Elena. Move on with your life. Get a life and leave me the fuck al
Elena’s POV:The police walked up and stood behind me. She hurriedly reached for my two hands and placed them on my back. Her grip hurt, but I didn't struggle with her because I knew it would only get worse if I struggled. All of my family members walked outside, including our worker, Marina. Nicklaus and his father walked outside with a serious expression on their faces. My eyes and Sarah's eyes locked, and she let out a wide grin, “Don't give me that look. You are fully aware of your crimes, Elena. Face the charges in jail. See you soon in a few years when you are out,” she spoke.Tears began to stream down my eyes. This is what my life has turned to. The shame and the humiliation that they had given me were more than enough.“You would have said you were looking for a baby-making machine,” I shouted. Nicklaus smirked and looked to the other side. Sarah waved me goodbye and smiled widely. Immediately, Zoey hurried to me, and the police stopped her from meeting me. Her face was
Sarah’s POV:I stretched my body in happiness when I woke up in the morning. The sun's rays rested on my skin, and I had this morning glow and satisfaction.I felt really great that Elena had been in the police custody. I rolled out of bed and walked into the bathroom. I slipped into a luxurious pink knee-length gown. I applied bold red lipstick on my lips to go with the dress and packed my hair in a sleep bun that made my face and jawline stand out.As I admired myself for being classy, I thought about my mother and all of the things we had achieved together. I smiled at my reflection in the mirror for being my mother’s daughter before grabbing my purse and entering my car. I arrived after a short time. I walked with confidence into the mansion, straight up to my mother’s room, with my heels clicking on the floor. “Mother, are you ready?” I called out as I walked into the hallway. My mother walked out of her room with a black dress that flowed on the floor and a black purse. “Le
