Chapter 79

Elena‘s words caught him off guard, and he became mute immediately. That's when he realised that he had never really cared; all he just wanted was the child so that he could acquire more wealth.

Nicklaus's phone rang immediately, and she felt relieved from the distractions. He reached out into his pocket and took out the phone to see who it was.

The call didn't last for 30 seconds, and he hung up the call.

He turned to Elena and said, “You better sign the divorce paper before I get back or deal with the consequences.” He warned, turning on his heels and walking out of the room.

Elena sat on the floor with tears streaming down her face. She could not imagine how her life could totally change in a few months. Just when she thought her life had changed for the better.

“I know he is capable of this, but could it be that he set me up?” she asked herself but shook her head immediately.

Her hands trembled as she looked at the divorce papers. The more she looked at it, the more everything looked real in her eyes.

Nicklaus arrived at his father's mansion, which is on the same estate as his. He walked into the hallway and stopped at the study.

“Have you ordered her to sign the divorce?”

"Yes, Father,” Nicklaus responded, nodding his head. He knew it was something he had to do, but he felt bad about it.

His father looked at Nicklaus’s dark face and waited for some time to speak. “Have you pressed charges?” he asked.

Nicklaus looked up to his father. He was shocked to see his father ask him again. He never wanted Elena to go to jail, but now the matter is only getting worse. His father would not give up on Elena's case. He knew that it wouldn't end there easily.

“Father, her sister is already pregnant for me, and you know that. Is there any use of pressing the charges?” I asked, trying to end the case.

“Of course there is; we are not talking about the pregnancy but the crime she committed,” his father responded.

Nicklaus signed and placed his fingers on his bridge. “Damn it,” he spoke and slammed his hands on the table

“Nicklaus, I know you have grown to love Elena, but you cannot mix business with pleasure. If you let her go without tackling this problem right here, who knows what next she would do?” he spoke.

Nicklaus got up from his seat and walked out of his father's house. He got into his car and zoomed off. After a while, he arrived at his mansion and walked into the hallway, where he bumped into Mr. Mike.

“Tell Elena to see me in my room right now,” he ordered and turned to climb the stairs.

Mr. Mike gave him a sad look with worry written all over his face. “Sir, Elena left the mansion a while ago with her small luggage in her hands,” he spoke.
