Chapter 80

Nicklaus halted in his tracks, and his eyes widened. He turned around and fixed his gaze on Mr. Mike. “What do you mean she left the house? He asked.

He didn't wait for Mr. Mike’s response. He walked into her room to search for her, but she was nowhere to be found. His eyes fell on the divorce papers on the bed, and he picked them up.

He saw that she had already signed the papers, and his heart pounded hard against his chest. “Fuck!” he exclaimed.

Why would she leave the house without telling me? He wondered to himself. Where would she go because he knew that her family would not accept her?

Nicklaus brought out his car keys and walked into the hallway, but something made him stop in his tracks.

He wondered what he was doing. “Elena is not a child; she can take care of herself. I don't care where she goes to. We are already divorced,” he said and walked to his room.

He turned on the shower and allowed the cold water to cascade down his body.

Meanwhile, Elena walked alone in the street of Los Angeles with a little hand luggage in her hands. She walked by a bus stop and sat there for hours thinking about where she would go.

All her accounts had been frozen, and she had nowhere to go—no money in her.

That's when she realised that he had fallen out of love with her since she could not play her role in the marriage. She held on to her bags and stayed on the bench for a few minutes when she slowly dozed off. She also wasn't with her phone to call anybody for help.

That is when she realised that she may have put herself in danger.

She had already walked a long journey, and returning to the mansion just for a mobile phone would take a while. She didn't want to see Nicklaus face. She didn't want the energy in the mansion.

She decided to stay out and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere nature offered.

After some time, her eyes opened when she heard noises. She noticed some guys walking towards her, and they looked like thugs. Her hands were shaky as she held on to her bags tightly.

Immediately, they stopped in front of her, and one of the guys reached for her cheeks. Her body trembled, and she was scared to death.

They were about to harass her, seeing that she was alone and helpless. Hey walked around her, scanning her from head to toe.

“Hey beautiful, what are you doing out here by yourself?” One of the guys asked.

Elena’s body trembled, and tears filled her eyes. She knew she could not run away unless she wanted to be harassed.

She was so scared that she wished she would have just stayed in the house and locked herself in a room rather than finding herself in this situation.

That's when a car passed and stopped in front of them, making a loud sound that caught their attention.
