Chapter 71

Sarah walked out of the house, joining her father in the car with a satisfied smile on her face.

“Father, I heard noises. I hope you didn't take it too hard on yourself,” she asked calmly.

“No, I didn't. Someone just needs to put Elena in her place,” he responded, his face filled with so much worry.

Sarah tried to calm her father and assured him that everything would be alright. She knew that if her plans worked, then her father would have more than he had in his company.

Nicklaus had discharged all of the board members after he found out who sold his shares, and he immediately sent for Mr. Xavier again. He wanted to make sure that he was clear on the issue before taking action.

“He will be sued if he doesn't arrive in my office in the next 30 minutes,” he said.

He kept on wondering in his heart while all these allegations were pointing towards Elene. He had known her to be so sweet and innocent.

“Is Elena not who she claims to be? I thought she was innocent and kind-hearted,” he muttered silently to myself. If she is smart enough to pull this kind of stunt, then she deserves to be called all sorts of terrible names that have ever existed.

Nicklaus sat here, lost in thought, until the door was swung open. He sat upright and fixed his eyes on the door; it was his father, Mr. Coleman.

He noticed Nicklaus's mood immediately and quickly walked up to him. “Why the long face, Nick?” he asked, walking up to him and sitting on the chair opposite Nicklaus.

“Did you make her buy the shares?” he asked calmly.

Nicklaus shook his head. "No, Father, I did not,” he replied calmly.

“What? How could she do this behind your back?” he asked furiously.

“Dad, this is the last straw. If I find out Elena is involved in this, I am divorcing her straight up unless she is pregnant with my child again.”

Just then, the door was opened, and it was Mr. Xavier.

Mr. Xavier knew what he had just done, so he was so nervous as he walked to Nicklaus.

He couldn't afford to look them in the eye. He was too embarrassed to do so. He knew that if he told the truth, he would lose everything he had ever worked for in his life.

Nicklaus stood up with his fist on the desk, and his eyes reddened. “How dare you sell your shares without my knowledge?” He asked, “What if you sold it to a scammer or a fugitive?” He snarled.

“I am so sorry about that, Mr. Coleman. I needed to sell my shares in the Coleman Company urgently for some business deals. I didn't want to come to you since I already had a buyer,” he lied.

“And the buyer seems to be my wife. What dirty business are you and my wife engaging in?” he asked. His voice was rising.

Mr. Xavier looked up at him. “There is no business going on between us, and I sold it to her because she is your wife, nothing more,” he said.

He stood up and dragged Mr. Xavier on his shirt, almost punching him. His father quickly stood up, and he pulled away immediately.

Nicklaus grabbed the documents on his desk and left the office, leaving Mr. Xavier standing in there alone with his father.

“Take me to my mansion right now,” he ordered;

His driver started the car, and the other convoy followed from behind. Nicklaus needed to confront Elena with this, and if he discovered that she really bought the shares, he would waste no time in seeing her and offering her divorce papers.

He had also been protecting her image by not telling anyone about it, but he could not see it anymore. He just couldn't. Not to a thief and a list. He thought it himself.

His father also followed him from his car behind. He was worried about the whole thing.

He started having some sort of hatred for Elena. He had been working hard and trying to build his wealth as one of the richest men in the world. He is ready to bring anybody down just to see that he gets there.

Sarah got a call while in the car with her dad. She looked at the screen and saw that it was Matt. She quickly picked it up and reduced the speaker.

“Hi Matt,” she said nervously. She tried to hide her tone but she failed miserably.

“I just called to inform you that Mr. Nicklaus had left the office. I think he is on his way home,” he said on the other end of the line, and she let out a cold smile.

Her father noticed my facial expression, and he could not help but ask, “Who was that?”

Her eyes darted, and she quickly looked for an excuse. “It's nothing serious, Father, just a friend of mine,” she said, focussing on the road. Deep down in her heart, she knew that she was close to reaching her goals.

“You just need to calm down, father; I assure you that Nicklaus will not pull away from the company,” she said with confidence. “Just trust me.”
