Chapter 76

Nicklaus’s POV:

I walked into my office building and ignored all of the greetings from my employees. I removed my jacket and hung it on the hanger. My eyes were heavy as I sat in my office chair. It was a new day, and I had not gotten enough rest. I

could barely sleep last night after the whole drama with Elena.

I slept alone last night in my other penthouse, thinking it would help me, but it didn't. I wanted my space and to be away from Elena.

I decided to work for some time before taking a quick break. I checked all of the blueprints and made some corrections.

I quietly made out all of the errors and asked them to do it again. They wouldn't like to see my angry mode if I allowed myself to lose control.

“This blueprint has a lot of corrections,” I said on the intercom as I communicated with one of the teams. “I pointed out the errors by making circles; get them done before the end of today,” I ordered before hanging up.

I was typing on my laptop when a knock came through my door. “Come in,” I responded.

I raised my head to see who it was—it was my lawyer. He walked in and greeted me with a smile. Good morning, Mr. Coleman.” John greeted me and walked to my desk.

“Good morning, Mr. John,” I said and stood up to give him a firm handshake. “Please, take a seat,” I said, and I gestured for him to sit.

“Do you have what I asked for last night?”

"Yes, sir,” he responded. I shifted my gaze to him, and he reached for his briefcase. He brought out an envelope and handed it over to me. “These are the divorce papers,” he said.

“It wasn't a difficult task since you presented a solid reason for divorceing your wife. It is left for you to press charges,” he said.

I nodded my head and opened the envelope. I carefully went through the papers to read their content when Mr. Joh called my attention. “Mr. Coleman, are you sure about what you want to do?” he asked.

I placed the papers back in the envelope and kept them on the desk. I raised my eyes to him and said, “I've never been more certain. Anybody that messes with my business goes down.”

“I see you have made your decision, and it's fine,” he said. “I should take my leave now,” he said, standing up to leave.

“Thank you so much, Mr. John. I will see you some other time,” I said, standing up to shake him again. I watched him walk out of the office, and when he closed the door behind me, I let out a frustrated sign.

I continued working, and I glanced at my watch. It was almost noon, and immediately I heard a knock on the door. I have been waiting for this meeting, and I am glad it is time.

The door was swung open immediately, and my father walked inside with the rest of the senior shareholders of the company.

“Welcome, everyone. Please have a seat.” I spoke and gestured for them to sit on the sofa, a little lounge at the corner of my office, for a comfortable meeting. Mr. Williams also walked in and joined us in the meeting.

The meeting commenced, and the shareholders started making their judgements. I didn't say a word; I just kept quiet and listened to them as they spoke.

“Mr. Williams, what your daughter did was a crime, and we cannot tolerate such crimes in our organization." My father said, "Your daughter didn't honour her part in the marriage, and with that, I am afraid we have to stop investing in your company, and you have to return every dime we had put in that company.”

Mr. Williams didn't look surprised. He sat there and listened to all of the judgments. Mr. Xavier also confirmed Elena’s identity as being his ally.

I didn't say a word. I just allowed the judgement to be carried out by my father since we both thought alike.

The meeting ended, and everybody left the office except for my father. We both walked to the desk, and I sat behind the desk. He sat in front of me, and we discussed the issue at hand.

I decided to work on my laptop, and my father sipped his drink quietly. Just then, there was a knock on the door.

“Come in,” I answered without even raising my head and looking at the door.

The door was swung open, and I heard heels clicking to the ground.

“You can't pull out of my father’s company,” a familiar voice spoke, which made me raise my head and look at her.

My father’s gaze was also on her, and she came to a halt.

“What are you talking about, Sarah?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.

She approached the desk area with so much confidence and sat on the chair close to my father.

“My family is ready to honour our part of the contract,” she said.

I rolled my eyes and adjusted my sitting position, waning forward. “Sarah, I don’t have all day. Do you have any tangible proof to prove that my company cannot stop investing in your company?” I asked.

“Yes, I do,” she said, smiling with so much confidence.

“Go ahead, spill it.”

Sarah crossed her legs and brought out a piece of paper from her purse. She extended it to me,

“I am pregnant,” she blurted out.
