Chapter 25

Elena’s POV:

I had my shower and freshened up. I walked up to the mirror in the closet and smiled when I saw the beautiful red dress Nicklaus had gotten for me for the party that night.

He sure knows my favourite colour and the kind of things I like.

I styled my hair into wavy curls. My skin had been glowing, and I had been looking way prettier. I decided to apply a little makeup to frame my face.

When I looked at myself in the mirror, I smiled, feeling confident in myself. I wasn't just the simple girl who had never cared to apply makeup to my face, even though I was very good at it.

I finally slipped into the dress. It was a maroon dress with a huge slit that stopped at my thigh. The waist was snatched, and the dress revealed my curves, which made me look elegant.

Nicklaus doesn't like me wearing fitted dresses that reveal my curves in public. He likes me wearing such a dress for him alone. Why did he get a revealing dress?

“This dress is too revealing. Maybe I should just change it,” I said to myself.

"No, you don't have to; it's perfect.” A voice came from the doorway.

I turned around and saw Nicklaus standing at the door of the closet. His eyes scanned my outfit from head to toe, and his stare was making my heart race.

He took a step towards me and held my waist. He kissed me on the forehead.

“You look beautiful; are you ready? We're getting late.” Nicklaus spoke softly.

He was wearing a black suit with white inners, and his curly hair was neatly arranged. His scent was soft and made me feel relaxed.

Nicklaus moved to the door and held it open for me. “Are you nervous?” he asked, holding me close to him.

I nodded my head. “Yes, a little. You know I don't like social gatherings,” I said.

“Common, it's not a big deal. Just relax. You just have to interact with the wives of businessmen. That's all,” he explained.

"I'm not a party person. and I am not sure what to talk about with those who talk more about trying to charm them.” I spoke, biting my lips.

“You will see that it's not that difficult. You can do it,” he said.

We walked to the waiting car downstairs. Nicklaus placed his hands on my waist, and my hips swayed from side to side.

The deep-cut design at the back of the dress made way for skin-to-skin contact.

To stop myself from feeling nervous, I bit my lips. “Will you stop biting that lip? You are turning me on.” Nicklaus said while rubbing his palms on my back.

I smiled and released my lips. Nicklaus helped me into the back seat of the car.

The driver started the car. We both sat quietly as I thought about how I would compose myself.

Nicklaus was answering business calls that needed his attention.

Finally, we reached our destination, and the driver parked in front of the restaurant. Nicklaus stepped down and walked to the other side of the car. He opened the door and helped me out of the car.

He held my waist tight and smiled at me. “You will be fine. Just be yourself,” he said.

We walked into the building with his hand still on my waist, and I felt a little spark between us. I tried to remove his hands so I wouldn't  get distracted, but he held me tightly.

We walked in and were greeted formally. We responded, and Nicklaus started his business talk with some of the men. I was taken away by a group of women.

I was nervous at the beginning, but I started to feel normal. The ladies were so nice, and I blended in perfectly.

We were engaged in a conversation, and I started feeling uneasy again. I looked sideways and found Nicklaus standing with some men, but his eyes were on me the whole time.

We stole glances at each other and would smile when our eyes met. One of the ladies turned to me after she noticed my move with Nicklaus.

“Mrs. Coleman, are you okay? You look flushed,”

I turned to her and hid my smile. “Oh no. I am perfectly alright.” I spoke softly.

The other lady turned and saw Nicklaus watching me. “The real reason for that is that the newlyweds can't take their eyes off each other,” she said while looking at Nicklaus and turning back to me.

"Wow... this newly married couple surely loves each other a lot." The other woman spoke, and everyone giggled.

I became nervous again.

I tried my best to converse with everyone. After some time, I felt a warm hand on my waist and turned to see Nicklaus beside me.

“Excuse me, ladies, I would like to borrow my wife for a few minutes,” he said with a lovely smile.

“Of course you can. The newlywed couple needs to spend more time together, especially at events like this,” one of the ladies said.

Nicklaus held my hand and took the lead. We stood on the dance floor and began dancing to the rhythm of the music. He pulled me close to him, and I couldn't resist.

His touch was turning me on, and I could feel his warm breath on my skin. It was so intense that everybody left the dance floor for the both of us.
