Chapter 26

Elena’s POV:

Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep

I heard the sound of my beeping phone, and I stirred on the bed. I woke up very early in the morning and stretched as my phone rang. I reached for my phone and looked at the screen. I sluggishly opened my eyes and looked through the screen.

It was Nicklaus calling. He had travelled to Germany for a business meeting, and he had been calling me nonstop. We had been missing each other, and we were always speaking on the phone.

I picked it up immediately. I had missed his voice badly. We spoke for some time, and I began feeling nauseous and tired. I had been feeling sick for a while, so I went back to bed, hoping to sleep off and gather enough strength for the day.

I woke up after a few hours and felt worse than before. I managed to roll out of bed and walk into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and splashed water on my face to revive myself. The cool water made me feel refreshed.

As I looked in the mirror, I knew something was wrong. I couldn't explain the sudden weight gain, and I had been throwing up all morning.

I felt weak and very dizzy. I figured it was a result of my previous fever, so I tried to brush it off.

I ordered the chef to bring my breakfast, and Irina cleaned my room.

She walked in with the chef, and she served me my meal. Irina looked me in the eye and noticed my pale eyes and my tired look. She walked up to me and said, "Ma'am, are you okay? You look pale,” she said, scanning my whole body.

I nodded my head and tried to brush it off. “I just feel very tired,” I said, and I walked to the balcony to have my breakfast. I believed that I was feeling alright. Maybe I am just having a fever.

When I sat down and opened the meal, the aroma of the meal filled the air, and I felt nauseous. I quickly ran into the bathroom to throw up.

After throwing up all morning, I became weak, and I couldn't even have my meal. Irina stayed in the bedroom with me and calmed me down. She had been caring for me and seeing that I was alright.

She walked up to me. “Maam, you need to have some rest, but I suggest you do some check-ups,” she said calmly.

I nodded my head and closed my eyes. I laid my head on the bed and managed to catch my breath. I just wanted to be close to Nicklaus. Maybe I will feel better.

“I feel so weak. Could it be the fever?” I asked, looking at Irina.

“Maam, in my honest opinion, I think you should do a pregnancy test,” Irina spoke out. Her voice was low and gentle.

My eyes widened, and I was taken aback. It had never occurred to me that I would be pregnant. I sat upright, looking at her in the eyes. “Could I be pregnant?” I asked. I gave her a calculative look, and my mind raced with a lot of questions.

She nodded her head and said, “It's not quite long since you came back from your honeymoon. I think you should do a pregnancy test, ma'am.”

She spoke. My thoughts went back to our honeymoon and all of the memorable nights we shared together. The way Nicklaus had been making love all night long.

Irina's words echoed in my mind as I tried to process the information. A pregnancy test? Could it be true?

I need to take the test. This would be good news for Nicklaus because I know how much he needs an heir. Should I wait for him to come back or should I just take the test?
