Alex stopped in his tracks, and his eyes were on Elena. He didn't know what to say, and they both stared at each other in silence.
His heart skipped as soon as possible as he remembered what Elena had just announced.
“How long have you kept this from me, Elena?” He asked, taking a step forward and fixing his gaze on her. He wanted answers. He had been spending time with Elena, and he had never paid attention to such before, and she didn't even announce it to him.
Elena sobbed, and she fixed her eyes on the floor. “For a couple of weeks,” she announced. Her voice trembled heavily as she sniffed.
His heart slammed hard against his chest. It felt as if it had been pierced with a knife. “Fuck,” Alex muttered under his breath. “Who else knows about it? Does Zoey know about it?”
Elena shook her head tirelessly, “Nobody knows. Not Zoey, not Nicklaus, and it should be that way,” she spoke and walked over to the couch. She collapsed on the couch.
Alex took in a deep breath and walked towards her. "You don't have to blame yourself, Elena. It's fine. I still don't care if you are pregnant. My feelings for you still remain genuine. I want you to be happy.” Alex spoke; his voice was low and husky,
He wasn't ready to give up on her. It was a very quick decision to make; he didn't think twice about it. He wants her. All of her. He was also ready to take care of the child.
Elena stood up from the couch. “Just stop, Alex. Stop it, please,” she shouted. “I am not giving love a chance again. Not anymore. I want to raise this child on my own and start over again.” Elena paused, and she and Alex made eye contact.
“I have given love chances, but what did it do? It ruined me. My life and my dreams are all lost. I'm sorry, Alex, but you need to see the brighter picture. We can't keep doing this, please. Don't you understand? I can't do this,” she spoke as tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably.
“What do you mean? Alex stood up and asked.
“Have you forgotten about how Zoey always stood by you? Don't you get the message?” Elena shouted, feeling frustrated and angry that Alex couldn't figure things out.
Alex got the message, and he looked away. He remembered Zoey and all of the sacrifices she made for him. He was so carried away he didn't notice her efforts.
After a few seconds, he turned to Elena. “Zoey had been in love with me all this while?” he asked.
“What else could you call it? You should go for someone who values you. I don't think I will give love a chance ever again. I just want to raise this child alone and start over.” Elena explained, walking to the other side of the room.
Alex stood there in silence; he didn't know what to do or what to say. Be never realised that Zoey had always loved him. He was always carried away by the thought of Elena; now he feels guilty for it.
He remembered how she would call him and tell him stories for hours just to cheer him up. Or how she would cook well and bring for him.
“Excuse me,” Elena spoke and walked into her room. She gently closed the door behind her and rested on it. Tears started streaming down her eyes, and she sobbed uncontrollably.
She couldn't believe that she had just opened up to Alex about her present condition and told him how Zoey had always felt fit for him. She wished she didn't say a word, especially about Zoey. She just wanted to be free, so she had to do it.
She felt proud that she stood her ground and wanted to focus on raising her child. Love will always be the last thing on her mind right now. She is beginning to feel determined to make a better version of herself.
Alex walked into his room and closed the door. He lay on his bed and fixed his eyes on the ceiling. He felt guilty for constantly hurting Zoey’s feelings but showing Elena so much love and attention.
That's when he started to remember what Zoey usually called him, who she was always communicating with even when he travelled abroad or when he was sick and alone.
He remembered how she would always look at him whenever they were together, and he remembered how she would make him smile. How she would crack jokes and try meals:
He thought about everything, and he became confused. All his life he had always loved Elena, and it was difficult to notice that Zoey had always had feelings for him.
He started feeling guilty because he didn't know how he would take the whole thing. He was eager to be the father of Elena’s child because he knew that Nicklaus would be married to Sarah in a few days.
They both lay on the bed at night with their eyes wide open. None of them could get enough sleep. They stayed up all night long thinking about what would become of them.
Sarah had been very busy making arrangements for the wedding, and her mother made sure that everything was in place. Everything was perfect until she realised that she had one more job to do. After a long drive, almost at the outskirts of Los Angeles, she walked into a dark underground building and stood there for a while. A man walked out of a room with a stick of cigarettes in his hands.Sarah smirked, and she laughed at the same time. “Long time no see, black wolf." “Sarah, it's been a long time. I have been seeing you all over the blogs. You are indeed a smart woman. That's the goal,” he said, dragging his cigarette. Sarah giggled and gave him a tight hug. “It's been a while. I've got a job for you,” she whispered in his ears. She pulled away, and they both walked into the dark underground with so many bodyguards guarding the place and tonnes of ammunition arranged on the wall.Sarah looked around, scanning the whole room, and smiling. It's been a long time since she visited he
Sarah walked into the mansion with a broad smile on her face. She knew that she had already accomplished her mission.Marina walked outside to the hallways to welcome Sarah, and she couldn't stop staring at Sarah as she smiled throughout. She wanted to know what it was that was making Sarah happy. When she was done attending to Sarah and preparing her bathtub, she walked into her room and put on her earbuds, in a hurry to listen to Sarah’s conversations. She operated it from her mobile phone to listen to Sarah’s recordings for the day, but she discovered nothing. It turned out that the recorder was blank. She narrowed her eyes and decided to try the recorder in Sarah’s room, and it was still blank. She wondered if it was the signal. She quickly walked into Sarah’s room but discovered that the door was locked. She tried to act normal, but her heart kept pounding hard in her chest. She hurried into her room and paced around. “What could be the problem?” “Did Sarah discover the recor
Sarah’s POV:“The target is out of the mansion."I sat on the bed after having dinner. I was sipping non-alcoholic wine. I let out a satisfied sigh and sat on my bed. I knew the black wolf was already on the lookout for Marina. She had been acting nervous since she discovered that I found out about the recorder. She is going to find out about it tomorrow. She won't live to testify. Just when I was lost in thought, my phone buzzed. “We found her,” it read.It was a message from a black wolf. I met out with a sly and calculating smile. “Good work. See you tomorrow,” I texted back and dropped my phone on the bedside.I turned off the light and went straight to sleep, feeling satisfied and happy that everything was working in my favour. With time, I will get Nicklaus to love me, and he would not be able to do without me.****The next morning, I woke up feeling happy and a little tired. I had been feeling nauseous lately and gained some weight. The symptoms of pregnancy were beginni
Elena’s POV:I woke up very early in the morning because of my constant nightmares. My mind still replayed the nightmares in my head. For two days now I have been contemplating whether to open up and tell Nicklaus about my pregnancy since he is the father of my baby. He abandoned me without thinking twice about it. He signed the divorce papers and forced me to sign them.I lay on the bed and tossed around. I lay on my back and stared at the ceiling. I thought about the whole thing. I wanted to keep this pregnancy a secret because I did not want anything to hinder my plans. I had been planning to go far away and start my life. To have a fresh start. Away from everybody, but I didn't even know where to start, but the idea of going away and starting over again had been my dream.I was happy last night because the waiter released a statement at the court and claimed that the allegations against me that caused my miscarriage were false. This made me a little proud of myself. At least I g
Elena’s POV:My heart skipped a beat, and my legs became very heavy. “No,” I muttered silently to myself. My mind struggled to process what I had just seen. It felt unbelievable. My breathing increased rapidly, and I could feel my breath cease. Irina caught up with me and stopped in her tracks when she noticed that I had seen it all. She had a long face on, and I could also see tears gathering in her eyes. “Maam,” she called out; her voice was low and filled with worry. I turned around to see a worried look on her face. But I couldn't speak, I couldn't think, and I couldn't respond. All I could think of was turning around and running out of the premises. I didn't stop in my tracks until I was out of the gate. I gasped for air, and my chest was rising and falling. My vision was blurry, and tears filled my eyes. I didn't even know what to do. I stood by the road, stretching my hands to stop a taxi. I didn't know where to go; all I knew was that to get out of the house, out of Nickla
Sarah’s POV: I walked down the aisle in my beautiful white wedding dress. The stunning lace and crystals glittered in the light. My father held my arms beside him; he was filled with pride as he escorted me to my future husband. I couldn't stop smiling. I was grinning ear to ear, and all eyes were on me. I enjoyed the excitement and joy of the moment. It made me feel like a princess in a fairy tale and the centre of attraction. I love that I was the center of attraction and all eyes were on me and Nicklaus. Everybody admired me as I walked to the alter. The guest stood on their feet. I could see the admiration on their faces. I became the spotlight and had my dream wedding, which made me the talk of the town. Nicklaus was already standing at the altar waiting for me. His charming smile made me fall hard for him. He was dressed in a black suit, which suited him perfectly, and his hair was styled, every strand in place. He looked like a model about to walk down the runway for Vogue
Nicklaus’s POV:I walked into my room after the wedding dinner, finally able to remove the fake smile on my face. I had been forcing myself to smile all day for my family and friends, but my face fell back to normal when I walked into the room and closed the door. My cheeks were hurting so much from smiling. It is now real. I am now Sarah’s husband.I let out a deep sigh and sat on the couch. I exhaled deeply, with my hand running through my face. I could not believe that Elena was truly out of my life for good and Sarah was now my wife. It feels surreal, like a dream that I had begged myself to wake up from. I thought about how my life changed in the space of just six months. Everything happened so fast. I got married to two women in six months. Not only two different women but two sisters. This is so bad. All because I need an heir just to take over from my father’s companies.I thought about Elena. I thought I loved her enough to stand by her, but I failed her. Now all I have le
Elena’s POV:It’s been a week since Nicklaus' wedding with my sister, and I have not been myself since then. I thought I had gotten over him and that I would easily move on and forget the pain, but I was mistaken. I hadn't left the house all week; I had not touched my phone; I had not spoken to anyone, not even Alex or Zoey. I was unable to face the outside world. I just wanted to be left alone and have some time to think things through. But this morning, I woke up very early in the morning, and I felt happy that I could get enough sleep all night long, and it gave me a little bit of relief.I looked around and decided to do something different, to take control of my life again. I rolled out of bed and walked to my closet. I arranged my clothes, folding and packing them in my box, and signed deeply, trying to let go of the past and start living again. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and it was swung open. Alex was standing in the doorway and walked inside the room. “Elen
