Chapter 135

Elena’s POV:

I woke up very early in the morning with baby Jason running around my bedroom. He had been jumping up and down.

“Hey wave, can I at least get some rest? You are going to do all of that when we go on a trip for your birthday.” I spoke.

“We are going on a birthday trip.”

Oops. I forgot to inform him earlier about it.

“Yes, Wave. We are going on a trip for your 5th year birthday,” I said.

“Yay! I am so happy, mummy. You are the best. This is going to be so much fun,” he said excitedly.

I nodded my head. “I know that you will love it. You should thank Uncle Sam because he made me accept his offer and everything became possible,” I said.

“I will do that, mummy,” he said.

I pulled him down from the bed and ran my hands through his hair. “We need to get you ready for school today, and I have to be at my school for my cooking practicals,” I said.

I just wish the school bus would arrive early so that I would not go through the stress of going late for my practicals.

I took him to the bathroom and gave him a hot bath as he sang his nursery rhymes. His voice looked so angelic.

I wish he had taken most of my features; it wouldn't have been difficult for me to stop thinking about Nicklaus.

Since I got pregnant for Wave, it had been so hard to get over Nicklaus, but I managed to do so, and I focused on my studies and my job. I tried to push his thoughts away, but seeing my son every day made it even more difficult.

“Mummy,” he called after a few seconds, his blue eyes twinkled just like Nicklaus’s eyes.

I knew that I could escape the thought. He will always be in my mind because he gave me the greatest gift of my life.

I swore that I would do everything in my power to keep Nicklaus away from my child.

“I am so happy to have you as my child. I just want you to know that you mean the whole world to me, and nothing will ever separate us,” I said while kissing him on the forehead.

“You are the best mom in the world,” he said and pecked me on the cheeks. His words melted my heart, and I smiled widely as he giggled.

I helped him get dressed, and as usual, we do our morning. When we got out of the room, Zoey had already cleaned the house and prepared breakfast.

“Good morning, Zoey. I hope you had a wonderful night's rest,” I said.

“Good morning, Aunt Zoey.” Wave greeted, and he grinned widely. I

“This smells great. I have to rush and finish up my meal. I am running late for my practical,” I said.

Zoey looked at me and smiled, “You don't have to worry about waves. I will feed him, and we will wait for the school bus outside. Just go do your thing. I wish you luck in your practical,” she said and reached for my hand.

I looked at her, and tears were starting to form in my eyes. “What would I have done without you, Zoey? Thank you so much.”

She pulled away and wiped her eyes. “Who is citing onions? You have to go now so you won't be late.”

I turned to wave and kissed him on the forehead. “Be a good boy.”

I felt as free as a bird. I will be awarded my certificate very soon, and that would be one of my greatest achievements in life so far after my son.

My life had been in Los Angeles. Since I was born and brought up, I welcomed the change into my life. It had brought out something new.

I was lost in my thoughts as I admired the beautiful streets of Oregon when my phone started buzzing continuously.

I reached for my bag and picked it up; it was Sam calling, “Elle, where are you? Are you on your way already?”

“Yes, I am almost there.”

“You have to hurry. The practical is about to start. It had been scheduled to start earlier than before.”

I will be there right away.”

I hung up and rushed onto the bus. I didn't want to miss my practical. Time is not on my side, and I have to get things done in order to have good comments and recommendations.

I arrived at the culinary and rushed to the changing room. I put on my apron, ready for the practical.

“Take in a few deep breaths.”

“Then breathe out.”

After a few seconds, the practical started with the chefs and congregation watching us. I was in a haste, and I didn't know where to start.

Standing and cooking for the house is always very difficult. I tried to gather enough strength. And not give up. Same made eye contact with me as he prepared his meals, and he nodded his head, assuring me.

I cleaned the sweat on my forehead. “I'm tired,” I said when I was about to sit down and give up. When I looked at the crowd, I saw my baby boy and Zoey watching me. Alex was standing behind them, and they cheered me on.

I gathered enough strength to keep going, and I was about to run out of time when I beat the time.

“This winner for this practical is Miss Elena Williams and Sam,”

I jubilated, feeling excited. It was a moment of happiness for us. Zoey, Alex, and my son came up to the stage and celebrated with me.
