Elena’s POV:
I woke up very early in the morning with baby Jason running around my bedroom. He had been jumping up and down.
“Hey wave, can I at least get some rest? You are going to do all of that when we go on a trip for your birthday.” I spoke.
“We are going on a birthday trip.”
Oops. I forgot to inform him earlier about it.
“Yes, Wave. We are going on a trip for your 5th year birthday,” I said.
“Yay! I am so happy, mummy. You are the best. This is going to be so much fun,” he said excitedly.
I nodded my head. “I know that you will love it. You should thank Uncle Sam because he made me accept his offer and everything became possible,” I said.
“I will do that, mummy,” he said.
I pulled him down from the bed and ran my hands through his hair. “We need to get you ready for school today, and I have to be at my school for my cooking practicals,” I said.
I just wish the school bus would arrive early so that I would not go through the stress of going late for my practicals.
I took him to the bathroom and gave him a hot bath as he sang his nursery rhymes. His voice looked so angelic.
I wish he had taken most of my features; it wouldn't have been difficult for me to stop thinking about Nicklaus.
Since I got pregnant for Wave, it had been so hard to get over Nicklaus, but I managed to do so, and I focused on my studies and my job. I tried to push his thoughts away, but seeing my son every day made it even more difficult.
“Mummy,” he called after a few seconds, his blue eyes twinkled just like Nicklaus’s eyes.
I knew that I could escape the thought. He will always be in my mind because he gave me the greatest gift of my life.
I swore that I would do everything in my power to keep Nicklaus away from my child.
“I am so happy to have you as my child. I just want you to know that you mean the whole world to me, and nothing will ever separate us,” I said while kissing him on the forehead.
“You are the best mom in the world,” he said and pecked me on the cheeks. His words melted my heart, and I smiled widely as he giggled.
I helped him get dressed, and as usual, we do our morning. When we got out of the room, Zoey had already cleaned the house and prepared breakfast.
“Good morning, Zoey. I hope you had a wonderful night's rest,” I said.
“Good morning, Aunt Zoey.” Wave greeted, and he grinned widely. I
“This smells great. I have to rush and finish up my meal. I am running late for my practical,” I said.
Zoey looked at me and smiled, “You don't have to worry about waves. I will feed him, and we will wait for the school bus outside. Just go do your thing. I wish you luck in your practical,” she said and reached for my hand.
I looked at her, and tears were starting to form in my eyes. “What would I have done without you, Zoey? Thank you so much.”
She pulled away and wiped her eyes. “Who is citing onions? You have to go now so you won't be late.”
I turned to wave and kissed him on the forehead. “Be a good boy.”
I felt as free as a bird. I will be awarded my certificate very soon, and that would be one of my greatest achievements in life so far after my son.
My life had been in Los Angeles. Since I was born and brought up, I welcomed the change into my life. It had brought out something new.
I was lost in my thoughts as I admired the beautiful streets of Oregon when my phone started buzzing continuously.
I reached for my bag and picked it up; it was Sam calling, “Elle, where are you? Are you on your way already?”
“Yes, I am almost there.”
“You have to hurry. The practical is about to start. It had been scheduled to start earlier than before.”
I will be there right away.”
I hung up and rushed onto the bus. I didn't want to miss my practical. Time is not on my side, and I have to get things done in order to have good comments and recommendations.
I arrived at the culinary and rushed to the changing room. I put on my apron, ready for the practical.
“Take in a few deep breaths.”
“Then breathe out.”
After a few seconds, the practical started with the chefs and congregation watching us. I was in a haste, and I didn't know where to start.
Standing and cooking for the house is always very difficult. I tried to gather enough strength. And not give up. Same made eye contact with me as he prepared his meals, and he nodded his head, assuring me.
I cleaned the sweat on my forehead. “I'm tired,” I said when I was about to sit down and give up. When I looked at the crowd, I saw my baby boy and Zoey watching me. Alex was standing behind them, and they cheered me on.
I gathered enough strength to keep going, and I was about to run out of time when I beat the time.
“This winner for this practical is Miss Elena Williams and Sam,”
I jubilated, feeling excited. It was a moment of happiness for us. Zoey, Alex, and my son came up to the stage and celebrated with me.
Elena's POV:Jason Wave’s birthday is in three days, and it will be our first trip together out of town. It would also be my first ever vacation in five years.Wave couldn't contain his excitement, and it was all thanks to Sam. Sam wants me to begin work on his company, but I have a passion for cooking. I have been taking care of company work all my life, and now it is time for me to chase my dream. I always cook with passion, but what drains me is balancing school and work at the same time. We were also informed at the restaurant that some important guests will be visiting next week, and we have to do our best to make sure our meals are perfect. After work, I decided to drop by the coffee store and grab some coffee to re-energise. I started to operate the machine, but it seemed not to be pouring out coffee. I tried again, and it was the same result. I sighed, “Now that I am thirsty, not this time around.” When I got tired of kicking, I kicked it so hard that my feet hurt, so I
Nicklaus’s POV:I adjusted my sitting position and leaned forward on my desk. “How far have you gone with the investigation on Elena?” I asked my private investigator.“We are doing all we can, sir,” he responds, sipping a glass of whiskey. I was getting annoyed that I had not gotten any positive results from him about Elena.“How good is your best?” I asked.“I have sent my men all over the states in America. They will bring back good results when they find something about her,” he spoke.“Don’t just find something about her; find her!” "Yes, sir,”“Should we send more men to hasten up the investigation?” I asked, then I shook my head, “No, I don't want to be so desperate. That wouldn't make any sense,” I said, running my hands through my hair as I ruffled it. I haven't been myself lately. I had been so fucked and messy.I turned to the other man seated beside the investigator. “It's been a few days since I decided to visit Oregon to begin the new work project and start building my
Elena’s POV:It's a Friday morning. I walked into Wave’s room together with Zoey with a little cake and a lighted candle on it. Jason Wave woke up at the sound of the swinging door.“Good morning, my baby. Happy birthday,” “Good morning, birthday boy,” Zoey greeted. “Good morning, mummy, and good morning, Aunt Zoey. Thank you so much. The cake looks nice,” he said. I walked up to him, wore the birthday hat on him, and placed the little cake in his hand. “Say a wish and blow the candle.” I said.He did as I have said, and we both clapped for him. I ruffled my hands through hisnahir, and he giggled. Zoey handed him a gift bag and said, "Thank you, Aunt Zoey. You are the best aunt in the whole world,” he said. He opened the gift bag to see a set of new toys and a blue school bag; his eyes widened. “Wow, this is beautiful. I love you, aunt Zoey,” be said. "Well, here is your gift,” I said, raising the gift bag over to him. He extended his hands and opened it excitedly. “This is so c
Nicklaus’s POV:“Nicklaus, I heard you are carrying out your investigations to find Elena. Are you going to see her?” Sarah asked as she walked into my room, slamming the door behind her without even a single greeting. “Good morning to you too. The answer is yes and no, respectively.” I spike as I continue packing a few work outfits and some casual wear. I will be in Oregon for some time, and I have to prepare even though it is close to Los Angeles. I am happy to go far away for some time. “Well, I want to go with you, Nicklaus. We haven't bonded for some time now, and I want to be by your side,” she demanded, crossing her hands over her chest. “I am going to work, Sarah. Besides, you have to stay back and take care of Tessa.” I said. I have always avoided Sarah, and she was right about us not binding, but that is not what I want from her. Only our child brought us together. Other than that, I have nothing to do with her. Sarah's eyes darkened as she looked at me. I looked at her
Nicklaus’s POV:I hung up the call immediately and walked out of the room with my bodyguards walking with me. I need to find Elena and speak with her. I couldn't believe that she had been in Oregon all this while. She had even graduated from the school she had always dreamed of attending. I got into the car, and the driver zoomed off. It was quite hard to find the place, but we got in the right direction after a while. I couldn't wait to see Elena. I wondered how she would react if she saw me.I thought about her and the years that she had been here. How would she be now? Did she get married to Alex? Does she have a family? Why does she live here?” I thought to myself, and it only made me feel nervous. My eyes were on the road as I looked at every building until we reached the school by the roadside.“Over there,” I shouted, pointing to the building. The driver stepped on the brake, and the car came to a stop. “I will be right back," she unsaid and hurriedly went down from the car.
Elena’s POV:We arrived at the Hallmark Resort and Spa. It had a breathtaking view. It was everything we had ever dreamed of.Maybe I feel excited to be It's been a while since I travelled for a vacation. Since my last vacation with Nicklaus, I hadn't gone on any. My mind replayed how me and Nicklaus’s honeymoon vacation went, but I tried to brush it off. I turned to him, “Do you love it, baby?” I asked."Yes, mummy,” he said. He looked at me and said, “Mummy, can I go okay? He asked. I shook my head. “No, Wave. We just arrived. We need to settle down before you go play. Now let's go in,” I said. It's a good thing that Wave always listens to me before he does anything. We walked into the beautiful hotel, and I admired every bit of it. I couldn't believe that Sam owned such a luxurious hotel. There was desert and a lot of fruit on the table. “Mummy, can I try some?” Wave asked. I nodded my head. “Yes, you may, but don't eat too much sugar,” I said, giving him a smile. We freshen
Nicklaus’s POV:“What do you mean you are her boyfriend?” I asked, looking at the man in front of meI cannot deny that he looked good, and his perfume was expensive. He must be a really rich dude. He looks good enough for Elena to be in a relationship. “Since you are her old friend, why didn't you inform her about your coming?” He asked, laughed, and walked out.I followed up with him from behind, “What do you mean?? Are you going to tell me where she is or not?” I said while following him up. “Are you taking me to here?”“Well, I am going for my break. Would you like to have lunch with me?” I was getting angry, but after a while, I thought of being patient with him.I was a fool to let her go just like that. I wondered how she survived in this city without money and a job. How did she manage to pull through? I could not imagine her having to struggle to get herself into this school. I was a fool not to care about it then. I was carried away by wealth and my selfish desire.I want
Elena’s POV:It is a Saturday afternoon, and the birthday trip is over. Elena, her son, and Zoey arrived in Oregon after a long trip from the resort. Elena walked into the house, and she collapsed on the couch. It's been a long trip back to Oregon, and they wish that the vacation would not end. “I am so exhausted,” she said. “Wave. You need to get some rest. I am too tired to cook. Should we do pizza?” she asked, looking at Wave and Zoey’s faces, waiting for their approval. Wave and Zoey’s faces lightened up. “Yes, that will be great. We are so tired. I will place the order.” Zoey said and reached for her phone. Zoey’s phone beeped with a notification, and her mood changed. I looked at her, “Zoey. Have you made the order or should I do it?” I asked. She looked at me and smiled, “No, I already did. She said. “Let's freshen up before dinner arrives.” “Sure,” I said, and I walked into the room to have a quick shower. Wave had already learnt to take his night shower in his room, but I
