Chapter 138

Elena’s POV:

It's a Friday morning. I walked into Wave’s room together with Zoey with a little cake and a lighted candle on it. Jason Wave woke up at the sound of the swinging door.

“Good morning, my baby. Happy birthday,”

“Good morning, birthday boy,” Zoey greeted.

“Good morning, mummy, and good morning, Aunt Zoey. Thank you so much. The cake looks nice,” he said.

I walked up to him, wore the birthday hat on him, and placed the little cake in his hand. “Say a wish and blow the candle.” I said.

He did as I have said, and we both clapped for him. I ruffled my hands through hisnahir, and he giggled. Zoey handed him a gift bag and said, "Thank you, Aunt Zoey. You are the best aunt in the whole world,” he said.

He opened the gift bag to see a set of new toys and a blue school bag; his eyes widened. “Wow, this is beautiful. I love you, aunt Zoey,” be said.

"Well, here is your gift,” I said, raising the gift bag over to him. He extended his hands and opened it excitedly.

“This is so cool. Thank you, mummy,”

“Anything for you, my boy,” I said. Jason Wave had always been dying to have a gamepad.

“Did you sleep well, my champ?” I asked.

“Yes, I did, mother,” he said. His face became serious all of a sudden.

“What’s wrong, my love?” I asked.

“I told Jayden about the trip, and he asked if my father would be present.” be spoke.

I pressed my lips into a thought line. I fixed my gaze on Zoey, and she raised her eyebrows. I reached for wave hands and squeezed it gently.

“Baby, you don't have to worry about that. I am your parent. Tell your friends I am all you've got, and you are happy about that. Okay?” I said.

I kissed him on the forehead, “Want to sleep more? We could reschedule the trip for later in the day.”

“No, mum. I am ready,”

“Alright darling. You need to have your bath and have breakfast before we leave. Guess what I am preparing for breakfast,” I said.

He raised his eyes and looked at me. “Pancakes?”

I raised his hands, “Yay! I love pancakes,” he said.

I helped him off the bed and gave him a hot bath.

“Thank you, Uncle Sam,” he spoke and wrapped his hands around him. I smiled while watching them. I remember when Wave called Sam "daddy,” and I cautioned him.

Wave eye light up in excitement, and he jumped up and down. He saw another cake on the dining table. “Is that another cake?” he asked and ran to the dining room.

He got distracted when he spotted the meals on the table. He turned to me. “Mother, can I have some sweets?” he asked.

"Yes, but only when you have had your pancakes and fruits,” I said, and he agreed. He had always been obedient.

We all gathered around the dining table as we started having breakfast. I feel excited. These are my family, and it feels exciting. We were not related by blood, but Zoey and Sam had been my family, and nothing could change that.

After having breakfast, Sam walked up to Wave.

“I've got another gift for you, champ,” Sam said.

Wave nodded his head excitedly. Sam brought out another set of toys again behind him, and Wave jumped up in excitement.

“Calm down, boy, or you are going to choke on your food,” I said, and he composed himself.

I walked up to Sam as we watched Wave together and said, "Thank you for always having our backs. It means a lot,” I said.

“There is no need to thank me, Elena. We are family.”

It was ten o'clock that morning, and Sam set to leave for the office. “See you on Sunday; have a great time, y'all. Everything is all set, and my workers will be happy to receive y'all at the resort,” he said.

“Thank you so much, Sam,” Zoey said, wrapping her arms around him for a hug. Wave and I joined for a group hug.

Let's go now, mummy. I can't wait.” Wave

“Alright. Let me turn off the lights.”

The drive to the resort was about three hours in the city of Oregon. During the first hour of the ride, Baby Wave was so excited and full of energy. We all sang, and I drove on the highway.

Before the next two hours, we were all tired and couldn't wait to reach. Zoey and I switched seats. We took turns in driving while I slept off.

I had overworked myself, and you couldn't want to get some rest. I turned to Zoey, “Thank you for always being there for me and my son. I really appreciate it,” I said and smiled.

She glanced at me and her eyes back on the road. “Not again, Elena. We are in this life together. You don't have to thank me for anything,”

We both chuckled, and I turned to look at the baby wave before fixing my eyes on the road. My son was already asleep.

“I didn't know how I would have coped without you. You are a real sister to me. You have changed my life.” inside

“Well, that is why we are friends, and destiny had brought you here,” she said. “You are an amazing mother; not get some rest while I drive,” she said.

“Have you ever felt like loving again?” she asked.

I raised my eyes and narrowed my eyes as I searched my brain. “Loving again? I don't think so,” I said.

“You need a man in your life, or do you still think about Nicklaus?” Her question touched my heart.

“What do you mean? Do you think I'm missing Nicklaus?”

“Well, not that. But you need to find love and move on.”
