Nicklaus’s POV:
“Nicklaus, I heard you are carrying out your investigations to find Elena. Are you going to see her?” Sarah asked as she walked into my room, slamming the door behind her without even a single greeting.
“Good morning to you too. The answer is yes and no, respectively.” I spike as I continue packing a few work outfits and some casual wear. I will be in Oregon for some time, and I have to prepare even though it is close to Los Angeles. I am happy to go far away for some time.
“Well, I want to go with you, Nicklaus. We haven't bonded for some time now, and I want to be by your side,” she demanded, crossing her hands over her chest.
“I am going to work, Sarah. Besides, you have to stay back and take care of Tessa.” I said. I have always avoided Sarah, and she was right about us not binding, but that is not what I want from her. Only our child brought us together. Other than that, I have nothing to do with her.
Sarah's eyes darkened as she looked at me. I looked at her and moved my eyes back to my closet as I picked up my outfit.
“How long will you be gone for?” She asked; her voice was deep.
“A few weeks,” I said, speaking, still focussing on my clothes.
“Do you realise that you have a daughter and you want to go for that long?” She spoke, her voice rising.
I looked up at her and stopped in my tracks. “The last time I checked, I had bonded more with Tessa than you have. Maybe you should use this opportunity to bind with her. If you will excuse me, I have to pack. Time is not on my side,” I said and returned to the closet.
She fixed her gaze on me, and I could feel her eyes. I know that she was angry, and I wouldn't give her the pleasure of ruining my trip. She turned to her heels and walked to the door, but she stopped in her tracks.
“I hope you never find her,” she commented and slammed the door before she could say anything.
“Such a pest,” I muttered under my breath. I was getting angry, but I managed to control my anger.
I gathered my stuff, and the guards helped me put my luggage in the car. I went into Tessa’s room to see her sleeping, so I kissed her forehead and walked downstairs.
I was halfway to the waiting car when I heard Sarah's footsteps from behind. She stood behind me as I was about to enter the car and spoke up.
“Where do you think you are going without me?” she asked. Giving me a daring look.
“I have a business to take care of. Go back inside. It's so cold outside.” I said, not that I care about her, but I just wanted her out of my sight.
“No! I want you to tell me the truth. Are you going in search of Elena?” She asked as she walked closer to me, her eyes filling up with tears.
I didn't feel guilty for treating her like that because she did worse to Elena.
“Get back inside. I don't want to be late for my flight. Remember not to do anything stupid, or else I will not look twice before passing my judgement.” I said and got into the car.
The driver started the engine, and we drove away. Sarah was still standing there as she watched me leave. I had tried my best to find Elena and finished knowing her whereabouts.
I got to the airport, and the flight took off. In less than 30 minutes, we arrived in Oregon. My bodyguards wait for me outside the airport. I got into the car, and we left for the hotel.
We arrived at the hotel after a short drive, and all eyes were on me as soon as I got into the building. I have gotten used to it because people always stare at me whenever I walk by.
I kept walking, not letting myself get distracted. The owner of the hotel, my very good friend, Mr. Benson, and a young woman who I believe was his daughter walked up to me.
“You are to my hotel, Mr. Coleman,” he spoke as we shook hands.
“Thank you for having me,” I said.
“Meet my daughter, Nelly, Nelly, meet Mr. Nicklaus Coleman,” Mr. Benson introduced us.
His daughter is young and beautiful. She is around the same age as Elena. I could tell from looking at her. She blinked at me for a few seconds.
“It's nice to meet you, Nelly,” I said and extended my hands for a handshake, but she pecked me on the cheeks.
“It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Nicklaus. Please feel at home and call on me anytime you need something,” she said.
I could see a lot of people taking pictures, and the paparazzi were outside. I entered the elevator. My bodyguards walked me into my penthouse, where I settled.
I admired the beautiful hotel. It is very big and has everything everybody needs. I looked through the skyview window when my phone buzzed with a phone call.
I reached for my phone in my pocket and picked it up immediately.
“Yes, investigator. What have you got?” I asked, fixing my eyes on the city through the window.
“We found where Mr. Elena schooled,” he said.
My heart skipped through my chest. “What? Where?” I asked.
“The Culinary School of Oregon. She just graduated there and is on her practical course,”
My eyes widened, and my jaw dropped.
“Oregon?”
Nicklaus’s POV:I hung up the call immediately and walked out of the room with my bodyguards walking with me. I need to find Elena and speak with her. I couldn't believe that she had been in Oregon all this while. She had even graduated from the school she had always dreamed of attending. I got into the car, and the driver zoomed off. It was quite hard to find the place, but we got in the right direction after a while. I couldn't wait to see Elena. I wondered how she would react if she saw me.I thought about her and the years that she had been here. How would she be now? Did she get married to Alex? Does she have a family? Why does she live here?” I thought to myself, and it only made me feel nervous. My eyes were on the road as I looked at every building until we reached the school by the roadside.“Over there,” I shouted, pointing to the building. The driver stepped on the brake, and the car came to a stop. “I will be right back," she unsaid and hurriedly went down from the car.
Elena’s POV:We arrived at the Hallmark Resort and Spa. It had a breathtaking view. It was everything we had ever dreamed of.Maybe I feel excited to be It's been a while since I travelled for a vacation. Since my last vacation with Nicklaus, I hadn't gone on any. My mind replayed how me and Nicklaus’s honeymoon vacation went, but I tried to brush it off. I turned to him, “Do you love it, baby?” I asked."Yes, mummy,” he said. He looked at me and said, “Mummy, can I go okay? He asked. I shook my head. “No, Wave. We just arrived. We need to settle down before you go play. Now let's go in,” I said. It's a good thing that Wave always listens to me before he does anything. We walked into the beautiful hotel, and I admired every bit of it. I couldn't believe that Sam owned such a luxurious hotel. There was desert and a lot of fruit on the table. “Mummy, can I try some?” Wave asked. I nodded my head. “Yes, you may, but don't eat too much sugar,” I said, giving him a smile. We freshen
Nicklaus’s POV:“What do you mean you are her boyfriend?” I asked, looking at the man in front of meI cannot deny that he looked good, and his perfume was expensive. He must be a really rich dude. He looks good enough for Elena to be in a relationship. “Since you are her old friend, why didn't you inform her about your coming?” He asked, laughed, and walked out.I followed up with him from behind, “What do you mean?? Are you going to tell me where she is or not?” I said while following him up. “Are you taking me to here?”“Well, I am going for my break. Would you like to have lunch with me?” I was getting angry, but after a while, I thought of being patient with him.I was a fool to let her go just like that. I wondered how she survived in this city without money and a job. How did she manage to pull through? I could not imagine her having to struggle to get herself into this school. I was a fool not to care about it then. I was carried away by wealth and my selfish desire.I want
Elena’s POV:It is a Saturday afternoon, and the birthday trip is over. Elena, her son, and Zoey arrived in Oregon after a long trip from the resort. Elena walked into the house, and she collapsed on the couch. It's been a long trip back to Oregon, and they wish that the vacation would not end. “I am so exhausted,” she said. “Wave. You need to get some rest. I am too tired to cook. Should we do pizza?” she asked, looking at Wave and Zoey’s faces, waiting for their approval. Wave and Zoey’s faces lightened up. “Yes, that will be great. We are so tired. I will place the order.” Zoey said and reached for her phone. Zoey’s phone beeped with a notification, and her mood changed. I looked at her, “Zoey. Have you made the order or should I do it?” I asked. She looked at me and smiled, “No, I already did. She said. “Let's freshen up before dinner arrives.” “Sure,” I said, and I walked into the room to have a quick shower. Wave had already learnt to take his night shower in his room, but I
Elena's alarm went off, piercing through her sleep and waking her up. She groaned in her sleep as she stirred, holding her pillow fight. She still wanted to have enough rest, but unfortunately, time wasn't on her side. She knew that she had to be at work this morning to attend to the VIP guests that had arrived during the weekend. She reached for the alarm clock and turned it off. She let out a frustrated sigh in her sleep and rolled out of her bed.She wished that she could have all day to myself, she groaned. “I wish I could have enough time to rest." She had a very hot shower to help clear the sleep away from her eyes as it cascaded down her body. She walked to her closet and cleaned her body. She towel dried it before drying it. She packed it in a sleek bun, and she put on denim trousers and a crisp white shirt. She applied a little makeup to highlight her face and to make her glow all day. One way or the other. Elena had the feeling that today was going to be a great day despi
Elena’s POV:I couldn't believe what I had just seen. What is Nicklaus doing here in this hotel?Nicklaus slowly stood up and walked up to me. “Nicklaus?”"Yes, my name is Nicklaus Coleman, but it seems you already know me,” he said and extended his hands for a handshake. I was about to extend her hands to shake him when Nelly pushed her hands away, “Stay away from our partners. You hoe,”“Why is there excess sugar and salt in the meal?” Mr. Stone asked angrily. “Oh no, I am so sorry, sir. I will quickly prepare another one,” I said, and I was about to run out of the kitchen when Nelly stopped me.“You have ruined the breakfast meeting we had been planning all weekend. Get your stuff and leave. You are fired,” Nelly spoke in anger. Everybody stood there watching, and I began to plead with her.“No, please. I apologise for what happened. Don't fire me. I will make another,” I pleaded. Tears were already beginning to fill my eyes.“I said, leave. I never want to see you here ever aga
“Yes, I have a son,” she spoke, staring at him.In the eyes, “If you will excuse me, I have to go,” she said and was about to walk out when he held her hands.“You left and immediately had a son for Alex?” he asked. “How could you do that?”His statement made her feel disgusted. Elena narrowed her eyes and gave him a disgusted look. She quickly removed her hand from his grip. “Well, you did it first. You had an affair with my sister just for an heir. Have you forgotten about all of your mistresses? Who is the devil now? Were you ever a saint?” She asked. He knew that she was saying the right thing and that he couldn't judge her. “If you will excuse me, I have important things to attend to,” she said and walked out on him. “Who would have thought that she moved on so quickly without me? I wish I had a child with her. It would have been easy to correct all these mistakes,” he muttered to himself. He feels deep regret for everything that happened five years ago. He wished that he wou
Elena’s POV:It was evening, and I decided to stop by the grocery store to get some groceries. I had not even stepped all day. I stayed indoors, wallowing in my sorrows. I thought about how my life would be if I decided to take the job. Now that I am jobless, let me make myself useful in the house before accepting Nicklaus's hell offer. I just wish that I would never see his face again, but it seems like I have no choice.I can't let everything that I had worked for go to waste. I can't let this little disaster ruin my little reputation. I know Sam would want to hire me in his company, but I do not have a passion for white-collar jobs. Wave and I were walking down the store when he held my hands, “Mummy, can we go check that out? I want to see the toy,” he said, looking at me with his pupils dilating. “Wave, we can't. I don't have enough money to get you a new toy, and besides, you have more than enough toys.” I protested. His pupil dilated. "Please, mummy. Let me go check it ou
