Chapter 139

Nicklaus’s POV:

“Nicklaus, I heard you are carrying out your investigations to find Elena. Are you going to see her?” Sarah asked as she walked into my room, slamming the door behind her without even a single greeting.

“Good morning to you too. The answer is yes and no, respectively.” I spike as I continue packing a few work outfits and some casual wear. I will be in Oregon for some time, and I have to prepare even though it is close to Los Angeles. I am happy to go far away for some time.

“Well, I want to go with you, Nicklaus. We haven't bonded for some time now, and I want to be by your side,” she demanded, crossing her hands over her chest.

“I am going to work, Sarah. Besides, you have to stay back and take care of Tessa.” I said. I have always avoided Sarah, and she was right about us not binding, but that is not what I want from her. Only our child brought us together. Other than that, I have nothing to do with her.

Sarah's eyes darkened as she looked at me. I looked at her and moved my eyes back to my closet as I picked up my outfit.

“How long will you be gone for?” She asked; her voice was deep.

“A few weeks,” I said, speaking, still focussing on my clothes.

“Do you realise that you have a daughter and you want to go for that long?” She spoke, her voice rising.

I looked up at her and stopped in my tracks. “The last time I checked, I had bonded more with Tessa than you have. Maybe you should use this opportunity to bind with her. If you will excuse me, I have to pack. Time is not on my side,” I said and returned to the closet.

She fixed her gaze on me, and I could feel her eyes. I know that she was angry, and I wouldn't give her the pleasure of ruining my trip. She turned to her heels and walked to the door, but she stopped in her tracks.

“I hope you never find her,” she commented and slammed the door before she could say anything.

“Such a pest,” I muttered under my breath. I was getting angry, but I managed to control my anger.

I gathered my stuff, and the guards helped me put my luggage in the car. I went into Tessa’s room to see her sleeping, so I kissed her forehead and walked downstairs.

I was halfway to the waiting car when I heard Sarah's footsteps from behind. She stood behind me as I was about to enter the car and spoke up.

“Where do you think you are going without me?” she asked. Giving me a daring look.

“I have a business to take care of. Go back inside. It's so cold outside.” I said, not that I care about her, but I just wanted her out of my sight.

“No! I want you to tell me the truth. Are you going in search of Elena?” She asked as she walked closer to me, her eyes filling up with tears.

I didn't feel guilty for treating her like that because she did worse to Elena.

“Get back inside. I don't want to be late for my flight. Remember not to do anything stupid, or else I will not look twice before passing my judgement.” I said and got into the car.

The driver started the engine, and we drove away. Sarah was still standing there as she watched me leave. I had tried my best to find Elena and finished knowing her whereabouts.

I got to the airport, and the flight took off. In less than 30 minutes, we arrived in Oregon. My bodyguards wait for me outside the airport. I got into the car, and we left for the hotel.

We arrived at the hotel after a short drive, and all eyes were on me as soon as I got into the building. I have gotten used to it because people always stare at me whenever I walk by.

I kept walking, not letting myself get distracted. The owner of the hotel, my very good friend, Mr. Benson, and a young woman who I believe was his daughter walked up to me.

“You are to my hotel, Mr. Coleman,” he spoke as we shook hands.

“Thank you for having me,” I said.

“Meet my daughter, Nelly, Nelly, meet Mr. Nicklaus Coleman,” Mr. Benson introduced us.

His daughter is young and beautiful. She is around the same age as Elena. I could tell from looking at her. She blinked at me for a few seconds.

“It's nice to meet you, Nelly,” I said and extended my hands for a handshake, but she pecked me on the cheeks.

“It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Nicklaus. Please feel at home and call on me anytime you need something,” she said.

I could see a lot of people taking pictures, and the paparazzi were outside. I entered the elevator. My bodyguards walked me into my penthouse, where I settled.

I admired the beautiful hotel. It is very big and has everything everybody needs. I looked through the skyview window when my phone buzzed with a phone call.

I reached for my phone in my pocket and picked it up immediately.

“Yes, investigator. What have you got?” I asked, fixing my eyes on the city through the window.

“We found where Mr. Elena schooled,” he said.

My heart skipped through my chest. “What? Where?” I asked.

“The Culinary School of Oregon. She just graduated there and is on her practical course,”

My eyes widened, and my jaw dropped.

“Oregon?”
