Chapter 136

Elena's POV:

Jason Wave’s birthday is in three days, and it will be our first trip together out of town. It would also be my first ever vacation in five years.

Wave couldn't contain his excitement, and it was all thanks to Sam.

Sam wants me to begin work on his company, but I have a passion for cooking. I have been taking care of company work all my life, and now it is time for me to chase my dream.

I always cook with passion, but what drains me is balancing school and work at the same time. We were also informed at the restaurant that some important guests will be visiting next week, and we have to do our best to make sure our meals are perfect.

After work, I decided to drop by the coffee store and grab some coffee to re-energise. I started to operate the machine, but it seemed not to be pouring out coffee.

I tried again, and it was the same result. I sighed, “Now that I am thirsty, not this time around.”

When I got tired of kicking, I kicked it so hard that my feet hurt, so I backed down.

“It seems the machine needs to be replaced; I didn't know you were out here trying to get coffee,” Sam spoke as he walked up to me.

I became thirsty on my way home, so I decided to drop by the coffee shop. What are you doing here?” I asked.

“I was about to get something from the grocery store when I saw you struggling to get some coffee,” he joked.

“Let me try. It’s my treat,” he said.

“Fuck, this machine is fucked up,” I cussed under my breath.

“Let go somewhere else. Don't worry about it, Elle,” he said. “Let me try the machine inside the restaurant,” Sam said and walked into the restaurant.

“We need to get it or else another person will get the coffee,” I said, and immediately, someone walked to the machine.

It was a man wearing a pair of blue tailored trousers and a white shirt.

He nodded his head and welcomed me. He looked so handsome and attractive.

His black eyes were piercing, and his brown hair looked sleek. He had an athletic build. He looks just like a model.

The coin in the machine finally fell to the ground, and he bent down and picked it up.

“I guess this is yours,” he said and stretched out his hands. His voice was so deep,.

This is the smoothest voice I have ever heard.

I returned to reality. “Yes, it is. Thank you,” I said and extended my hand to take the coin when his finger brushed against mine.

He smiled lightly. I was expecting him to leave after that, but he stepped in front of the machine. He placed some coins inside the machine, and it brought out two coffees immediately.

Sam also got out of the restaurant with two coffee drinks in his hands.

“I got you a drink,” the man said.

“You don't have to,” I said while smiling.

“Well, I already did. Anything for a gorgeous woman like you,” he said.

I extended my hands and took the coffee from him. “Thank you,” I said.

I heard a voice from behind. “Elle, I got you another coffee,” Sam spoke.

My jaw dropped as I fixed my eyes on both of them. Two handsome men are treating me to a coffee. Wow, this is great.

“Uh….” I didn't know what to say.

Sam walked up to me and held my hands. “She is with me; Elena, let's go,”

We stopped by his car when I realised what he had done. I removed my hands from his grip. “What was the meaning of that back there?”

“Elena, he is a total stranger,” Sam said.

“So? Am I a child?” I asked, crossing my arms against my chest.

Sam didn't say a word. He walked up to me. “I'm sorry, Elena. I thought we could rent comfortably in his presence,” he explained.

I scoffed and placed my hands at my side. “Did I look uncomfortable?” I asked, but he didn't say a word.

“You know what, Sam, good night. I will walk. I need to get some air,” I said and walked away. Sam stood there watching me as I left.

“Mummy,” Wave said as he ran and wrapped his arms around my thighs.

“Hi, baby. How are you doing tonight?” I asked, rubbing my hands through his hair.

“I am doing great,” he said.

I walked up to Zoey and gave her a peck on the cheek, “Hi there.” I greeted and placed my bag on the table. I have been so exhausted, and I just needed to rest.

We had a wonderful dinner as we chatted and laughed, but my mind was elsewhere. I

I had a hot shower and changed into fresh pyjamas. I lay on the bed with my eyes fixed on the ceiling. I couldn't sleep. I just couldn't stop thinking about how life had been lately.

I rolled out of bed and turned on the speaker. I connected it to my phone and played slow and cool music. I swayed around the room and danced around with my eyes closed.

I thought about my life when I was single. Sometimes, I wish I had made time to go out and party when I was young.

I poured red wine and sipped until I was tipsy. I danced and danced until I became tired. Then I retired to bed.
