Chapter 142

Nicklaus’s POV:

“What do you mean you are her boyfriend?” I asked, looking at the man in front of me

I cannot deny that he looked good, and his perfume was expensive. He must be a really rich dude. He looks good enough for Elena to be in a relationship.

“Since you are her old friend, why didn't you inform her about your coming?” He asked, laughed, and walked out.

I followed up with him from behind, “What do you mean?? Are you going to tell me where she is or not?” I said while following him up. “Are you taking me to here?”

“Well, I am going for my break. Would you like to have lunch with me?”

I was getting angry, but after a while, I thought of being patient with him.

I was a fool to let her go just like that. I wondered how she survived in this city without money and a job. How did she manage to pull through?

I could not imagine her having to struggle to get herself into this school. I was a fool not to care about it then. I was carried away by wealth and my selfish desire.

I want to make things better. I want to plead for her forgiveness. I just want her to know that I have worked on myself and I am a better person.

“Hey, Sam. You look good today.” Some girls spoke to the guy I was with, and they also looked at me as they drooled.

Whatever is going on here, I just wish that I would see Elena. My patience is running out. I have a lot of work to do. I looked at the guy, and when he pulled his apron, I noticed his expensive outfit and watch.

Finally, we got to the restaurant, and a waitress served him wine. I wasn't in the mood to eat. I just wanted to know where Elena was.

I looked at the whole place and also at the waitress, hoping to find her, but I couldn't. I just wish you could see a lady with long brown hair.

How does she look? It's been 5 years now. I'm sure she would be prettier than she was.

“If I were you, I would stop staring because she is not here,” Sam said as he sipped his glass of wine.

I fixed my eyes on him and looked him in the eyes. "Look, man, I am not here for you or to dine with you. I am a very businessman. Just tell me where she is,”

Who is this guy, and why is he wasting my time? I am running out of patience. I have to get back to business.

“Can you just let me know her whereabouts so that I can go look for her?”

He looked at me and gave me a questioning look, easing his eyebrows. “I just hope it wasn't you who broke her heart,”

There was silence between us. After a few minutes, he scoffed. “She is not here,” he said.

My eyes widened. “What the fuck?” I cussed.

He sipped the remaining glass of wine. “She will resume work on Sunday at the Nine Grand Hotel. She is currently on a vacation.”

“Why didn't you tell me about it earlier?” I snarled.

“Because I want to know who you are to Elena. She is my very good friend, and I need to watch her back,” he said.

“Friend?” I asked, narrowing my eyes with my lips slightly parted. “Didn't you just say you were her boyfriend?” I asked.

“We are not dating. I am her friend, and I have seen how much you really need to see her. Just don't hurt her or you will hear from me,” he said.

“Are you threatening me?” I asked.

“Well, I am not. I am just telling you what not to do,” he spoke.

I stood up from my seat, “Thanks for the information, and thank you for wasting my time,” I said, and walked out on him.

"Motherfucker,” I cussed under my breath.

I went into the hotel. As usual, the guards surrounded me, and all eyes were on me. I was angry, and I couldn't wait to get to my suit. When I was about to enter the elevator, Nelly stopped in front of me.

“Can I join you, Mr. Coleman? I think we are both going up,” she said.

I nodded my head without saying a word, and she walked into the elevator. There was silence, and I didn't say a word. She looked at me, smiling widely.

“Do you love Oregon?” she asked.

“Yes, I do. It's nice.” I responded, my eyes fixed on the door.

“That's great. I will make sure we give you the best treatment in this hotel,” she said, and the elevator door chimed.

I quickly got out and walked into my suit, leaving her alone. I walked to my room and collapsed on my bed. I feel so exhausted and angry. I couldn't believe that some guy would waste my precious time because I was willing to find Elena.

I didn't even know she worked in this hotel. It's a good thing that I lodged here. Maybe fate will bring us back together. I lay on the bed with my eyes on the ceiling.

I couldn't wait for Sunday. Tomorrow is Saturday, and it felt like it would last for the whole year. I just miss Elena, and I cannot wait to fix my eyes on her.
