**Laura POV**
“I don't want a mate, I want to rule my park, myself.”my voice thundered in the room as Sonia gasped rapidly.
“I concur with them you know, you've already seen your mate, Alex my cousin is your mate.its unclear to me why you don't like him. Regardless of the mating bond between you two being conspicuous. He loves you and with him by your side, you'll need all the assistance you can get.” Sonia said, cupping my tender cheeks into her hands.
“I don’t feel anything for him sonia. I don't feel the mate bond” I lied.
“Your change is so sudden and alarming Laura” she scoffed. “ I thought you've always wanted this, why pulling out at the last minute?” she said through gritted teeth.
“I can do this myself Sonia, except you no longer have fate in your best friend” I said, tapping her shoulder.
“But Laura..” I cut her off abruptly.
“But what sonia… You’re no different from the elders, I thought you would help me in convincing them to see reasons with me. But it's obvious whose side you're on.” I rolled my eyes in disbelief.
“Don't say that Laura, I'll forever be by your side. What are friends for? My only concern is your safety, try to maybe give thought to the elders admonition.”she said with a smile playing on the corner of her lips.
“Thanks bestie, I'll think about it.” I said, pulling her into a tight hug.
“My bestie is back to her normal self,” Sonia squirreled, happily spanking me softly as we both giggled.
Later on, I went for pack training. I could feel the rage coursing through my body as my wolf screamed “Revenge, Revenge”. I went straight to the punching bag as my guards stood watch. I punched the bag with an astronomical strength, and the room shook. I was stronger than before in my past life, but I didn't show it to anyone. I punched harder this time as thoughts of my late parents flooded through my mind, my heart broke into a million pieces. I punched the bag again and again as memories of Alex betrayals also made its way to my mind. I blamed myself for being a fool then . I was beginning to lose control as I shifted into my wolf form, ripping every muscle in my body as I transformed. The experience, once painful, was no longer painful. I howled as I shifted back to my human form. I could hear footsteps walking towards me as I spun swiftly, landing two punches to the person’s face. I knew instinctively that it was Alex.
“Arrgghh, that hurts” he groaned in pain.
“What are you doing here?” I sneered at him. My anger is almost boiling over.
“I came to protect you as my mate, to prevent you from hurting yourself” he replied. “You’re not my mate,” I yelled at him. “ The sooner you get that illusion out of your head the better for you” I deadpanned.
“No matter what you do or how you treat me, I'll always be here for you. We have been fated as mates.”
“You’re sick in the brain.just get out of here now.” I yelled at him.
“I will leave but just know that I'll never stop trying to win you over.” he said with a smirk on his face.
“Arrggh, I told you to leave already” as I turned with another punch. I heard a shrill cry that made my heart skip a beat. It was none other than Maxwell.
“Ouch my Nose, what did you take?”
“I'm sorry, Maxwell” I snapped in a calm, loving voice. “I didn't see you coming,” I added, staring at his already bleeding face.
“You’re Alex, right, Sonia’s cousin” Maxwell enquired.
“Yes I am, and I'm also Laura’s mate. What business do you have here if I may ask?” Alex growled at Maxwell with a menacing look .
“She is my friend and I came to check up on her.” Maxwell replied. I stood there, looking at the two of them banter words.
“ You have no right to be anywhere around here. Seeing that she now has a mate.” Alex enunciated. “ Keep shut! the both of you.” I screamed running into the woods. I ran as far as my legs could carry me until I ended up at the river bank.
Lost in my thoughts for what seemed like forever, I was jerked from my reverie when a familiar scent hit my nostril. It was the scent from Maxwell. I smiled inwardly.
“Is everything okay Laura, what are you doing here all by yourself.”
I turned to look at him and our gaze locked. I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me as my heart pulsated ferociously within my chest. I gulped. Why was I feeling this way towards him?.
“ Nothing, I need some fresh air,” I replied. I could feel him walking towards me as he grabbed my arms into his. “Laura, we might not really be close but I want you to know that, you can always confide in me” his voice was soothing. It made my thighs warm as waves of mixed emotions washed over me. He slowly leaned in to kiss me. I just froze, I couldn't fight the feelings. It felt like he had a special bond over me.
His piercing green eyes swallowed me in, his scent gave me goosebumps. As our lips connected, I felt a surge of electricity course through me. His lips were soft and fluffy. His arms wrapped me into his warm embrace and I felt like melting under his dominating presence. What was I doing? The feeling was unexplainable. He smeared my neck with kisses as he slowly moved to my earlobes. “You’re very beautiful Laura” he whispered . His breath was hot on my neck.
I was almost giving in to my desires when I quickly pushed him away. “Sorry Maxwell, I can't do this, I'm sorry” I said as I ran back home through the woods.
**Laura's POV**I got to the pack house in not time and immediately started walking towards my room when I stumbled upon Sonia. When I sighted her from afar, she was mumbling incoherent words but that was less of my problem."Hey, Laura where have you been?" She asked the moment our eyes came in contact with each other. Sonia made to hug me but I refuted by swaying my body away from her embrace. "What are you doing here by this time?" I asked folding my hands akimbo, Sonia's eyes almost bopped out of their sockets at my question. I'm sure it came fast and she wasn't expecting it."Is that supposed to be a question directly to me?" She eyed me up and down checking if something was wrong. I'm sure I sound like someone who an exorcism was performed on."Does it sound like an answer?" I made to open the door but Sonia stopped me. I'm currently at my self restraint and would lash out on her. "I hope you realize we are best friends?" "Oh, yeah I do know. Can I go in now?" I asked in my Al
"Move out!" A familiar voice yelled and both I and Maxwell turned around only to see furious Alex walking out in rage."Who cares?" I whispered while Maxwell half shrugged and wr both went out separate ways.*"We demand to see your Alpha!" These words kept replaying in my head and I fought the urge to ask what the person wanted to see me for. I stood up looking around the familiar but not familiar place until I realized I was in my room and technically, I just woke up from a dream. I got distracted by the noise coming from the pack members, something like an argument but it became tensed and I started hearing cries then I realized a war has actually broken out.But why? Who would dare raise a war against us?I had already jumped out from bed and grabbed my sword. Anger and bitterness flushed through me as I saw some servants laying dead on the ground. What the hell is happening?Yesterday, I was informed of a fake news about war and today.... Today a real war is ongoing. Hatred flash
**Laura's POV**I was going to walk out and get rest to be able to proceed everything that was happening.I'm confused, I don't know or understand what's going on.Who's the real enemy? The unknown man or the council of elders, Sonia and Alex? From my past life, Alex, Sonia and the council of elders where my foes. Sonia who keeps lying that Alex is her cousin meanwhile her lover, Alex who wants to ascend the Alpha throne, the council of elders, betrayers... Maxwell was the only ally revealed to me. Who is this man? What does he want the spectra for?As the pack members dispersed, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. Well, everywhere looks okay now. We performed a funeral for the deceased not without Sonia trying to force words out of my mouth. Who was this mysterious man once again? Those runes on his face clearly tell that he's a rouge, a rebel... Everything evil lurks around him. What's the significance of the spectra? I knew i had to het to the bottom of this. I called a
**Sonia's POV**"That girl is getting in my nerve as days pass by... What the hell is wrong with her?" I murmured as I and Alex walked deep into the woods."She wasn't like this.... I'm shocked too. Where she got all those strength and courage from, it kinda amazes me." Alex remarked with a sigh but I envied those words. They were actually meant for me and not her. "You know I hate when she's being complimented right?" I asked with irritation."I'll be the last person to compliment her." Alex scoffed and turned around to look at me.We were just a step away from each other when I sighted Laura in the woods and a shadow was enclosing in on her. I needed no soothsayer to tell me that she wasn't aware. It was too late to react because the next minute, shadows, thick dark shadows covered everywhere. I could barely see a thing."What the fuck is happening?" Alex cussed taking steps away from me but I grabbed his hands with the little sight if him that I could see."Where do you think you'
**Laura's POV**I, Laura, stood at the forefront of the funeral procession, my heart heavy with grief. It felt the same... Everything still felt fresh and i felt like suffocating l. The pain had me vulnerable and I weeped for my own inability of being strong. That day had finally come to bif my beloved parents, the late Alpha and Luna. The pack members gathered around, their faces somber and respectful. As we made our way to the burial site which was few meters away from the pack house, I couldn't help but think of all the memories I shared with my parents. The laughter, the adventures, the wise counsel they had given me over the years. My eyes welled up with tears, but I fought to keep them back, knowing I had to be strong for my pack. The ceremony began, and the council members took turns sharing stories and memories of my parents leadership and bravery. I listened, my throat constricting with emotion, as they spike their wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication to our pack.Of
**Laura's POV**As the days went by, no words were heard from the mysterious man who was hell bent over the spectra which made me nervous because I know that he was going to come back, that's for sure.No one is certain if he's truly the beast of the east but then, let's forget about him. I haven't paid much attention to elder Magnus but his action's this time got me curious of what his true motives were. "I feel sometimes is off." I complained to Maxwell while we took a stroll in the river bank at the back of the pack house. I love visiting here whenever I wanted absolute peace. The green tress, the water falls, slow and rhymatic waves of water... Everything speaks about nature and it's perfect output."Forget about everything now and feel happy for once. Enjoy yourself and stop being hard on yourself.. remember that the evil ones would keep doing evil and not a soul can change that about them." He advised and i admired him alot. How blind was I that i didn't even notice him in my
**Laura's POV**"I was sent by the beast of the east." Niandra blurted out causing everyone to stop whatever they were doing. Everyone dreaded to hear that name and how can she say it without fear?"What does he want with us?" Elder Draco asked immediately."I don't think I need to explain anything as you have encountered him once or twice if I'm not mistaking. " Niandra stated and I struggled to find the soft lady I met few seconds ago but couldn't. Who sat before me was nothing but a cold and ruthless lady. She looks like a siren but damn it she ain't."Are you a siren? " Sonia asked with jealousy and pure hate in her eyes. Sonia has always been like this, she easily muster up hatred for someone. "I didn't come here for you so I guess I owe you no answer. Niandra replied without soaring Sonia another glance. "So, the beast of the east is the man who —""I don't know what man you're talking about but according to him, he has encountered y'all before. Think about it." Niandra replie
**Laura's POV**It's been paste weeks and now words from anyone pertaining the Spectra but things keeps happening.I couldn't help but imagine the demon Sonia had turned herself into .How absurd! I slowly stared at everyone and could see a mixture of guilt displayed on their faces. Sonia tried to hold up the deviant devilish look but it was clear she couldn't hold it up for long. I've already had enough of their stupidity and I was fed up with everything. I really do not care how Elder Magnus stared at me right now, but honestly, if looks could kill, I'd be dead."Whatever you do, don't you dare think this would be the end of everything... Just put a smile on your face while you still have the chance to do so!" Niandra warned angrily and i was trying to proceed what exactly had happen. " Gone are the days where I'd get scared of you Sonia... You're nothing but a cloud and the moment you disappear, it becomes beautiful all day... " Niandra retorted while she huffed." Sonia, do
