Chapter 21

Sonia's P.O.V

Laura's departure to the Stone pack excited me a lot. Although the bitch didn't allow me go with them, atleast I have free rein over everybody now. No one would question my actions successfully, especially because Uncle Magnus is the acting Alpha.

I sent a short text to Alex to confirm he was home, and to leave the door open to make it easier for me to get in, and he replied with a thumbs up.

I slipped away from the group of elders and headed into the pack grounds. I walked past the training grounds pausing at intervals to greet familiar faces and respond to greetings.

"So-nyyy" A tiny voice screamed my name with excitement. I spread my hands with equal excitement as the chubby figure latched on to my body, tightly gripping my long flowy gown.

"Baby Liaaa", I drawled, pecking her fat cheeks. I used to volunteer at the hospital and that was where I met Lia. Her mother was one of the rogues who were captured during an attack, they found out she was pregnant and the former Alpha and Luna made sure she had proper medical attention till she gave birth. She died during labour, but she left Lia behind.

Lia is dark skinned, she has her black afro hair packed in ringlets. I've loved Lia since she was in the womb, and when she was born, I love her even more. She's the only one alongside other little children in her age range who see my vulnerable side.

She makes grabby hands at my clothes, and I bounce her in my hands for few minutes before leaving her to join her mates who were being taught basic pack rhymes.

When I got to the area Alex's house was located, I looked left and right to ensure no one was looking in my direction before quietly slipping in. Not like it'll be crazy if anyone saw me go in, but precautions are sometimes necessary.

"Hey baby" I greeted, smiling at him. He was shirtless with water dripping from his body. I stood behind the door for a few seconds trying to clear my head of other thoughts as I approached him.

Alex and I have been in love for a very long time, some people say he's cold and ruthless but that's because they don't know the real Alex. He has been through a lot, and so have I.

Unlike that stupid bitch, Laura, she had it all easy from the moment she was brought into this world, precious "Alpha's daughter". She doesn't even have to do anything and people would be falling head over heels, trying to please her.

"Earth to Sonia" Alex pulled me closer, one hand resting on my curves, and the other patting my hair. He was standing by the kitchen countertop in his studio apartment.

"My love," I beamed at him, he pouted, moving my hair behind me, then proceeded to latch his lips onto mine. I kissed him back with equal excitement; our lips, teeth and tongue all becoming one.

I miss kissing Alex, we've not had much time to ourselves since he started his pursuit of the bitch, although we still parade as cousins. To everyone, he's my cousin who came from a distant pack to settle here and he fell in love with Laura after meeting her through me, but that's cock and bull.

He pulled me tighter, angling my neck in a way that gave him access to my neck, pressing soft kisses to the skin there, literally making me melt.

"I missed you baby" he said between kisses.

"I missed you more love" I really did miss the times we didn't have to sneak around to express our love.

He placed a kiss on my forehead and drew back, leading me to the two-seater couch in his sparsely furnished living room. I sat on the left side and he sat beside me, drew my head closer to rest on his shoulder.

"So, what's the update with the throne now? Laura has not been so receptive. I've been expecting your visit so I can get more info. What's going on?" He spoke, his breath tickling my ear.

"She's not in Black Pearl pack. She left this morning with Maxwell and we don't know when they'll be back." I answered.

"Really? She didn't tell me anything, that bitch. Is Magnus aware? Where did they go? Why did they even go together." He pushed me off his shoulder, facing me squarely as he rushed a barrage of questions at me, if I didn't know better, I'd say he looked jealous.

"Calm down, why are you taking the matter so personal? I understand that you're worried about our plans but this has made it even easier to eliminate Laura and Maxwell." I ran my hands through his shoulder length hair, trying to calm him down, but it didn't seem like it was working because he slapped my hands away seconds later.

"Would you explain and stop being so dumb, dropping the news in bits?" His eyes flashed as he spoke, his wolf close to the surface. Alex sometimes hits me when I misbehave, but that's only because I can be disobedient at times."

I moved to the extreme end of the couch, trying to calm myself as I spoke, "So, she got intel on how to get the spectra, and left for stone pack with Maxwell to work on it. They don't know how long it will take. Uncle Magnus is in charge of the pack with other elders, and that's all for now."

He nodded his head in acknowledgement, "So why did you say their absence has made it easier to eliminate them?"

"Uncle Magnus has arranged for some of his allies to attack them on their way. Make it seem like an actual rogue attack, and kill them. So, the pack dynamics will continue like this, uncle Magnus will assume the throne since he has the support of some elders, and then after few years, you'll take over from him." I explained thoroughly.

He sighed in deep thought, the corners of his mouth quirking in a small smile. "Well, that makes everything a lot faster and better." I knew he would love the new developments. I shifted closer to him putting his hands on my thighs, securing them there by placing my own hand on his tihhtly.

I was imagining how large we would live when everthing finally comes to be when his mouth suddenly downturned in obvious displeasure, "Why didn't you and Magnus inform me of these vital updates? I still sent flowers to her yesterday morning, you know? Do you both think I'm incapable of making important contributions? You think I'm an idiot?"

He growled the latter part, his fangs extending and dripping saliva, his eyes flashed brightly, gold colour emerging around his eyeballs. This is angry and extremely ruthless Alex. I wasn't sure what to do, I couldn't run past him, he would definitely outrun me and do worse than he intended. "ANSWER ME! !!"

"S..She trashed your flower, We were also going to inform you, that was why I came over today, to inform you and ask for your contributions, since you've not been to the palace in a while." I explained.

He stared at me for few seconds, then opened the door for me to leave, "Get out!" he growled. I calmly moved to the door and walked out of it. I know he'll call me later in the evening to apologize for his actions.
