LAURA
I was eating my breakfast silently when a maid walked up to me with a bouquet of flowers. “Good morning, Luna. Someone sent these for you,” she said. I was confused at first but collected it, eager to check the card. “Who is it from?” I asked her. “I…I don't know. A guard just told me to give it to you,” she replied. “Okay, you may go,” I dismissed her. I started hassling the flowers, trying to get the card out but it somewhat got stuck in the flowers. “Where the fuck is it?” I tried looking for it, but it was stuck. “Who is from?” Maxwell inquired. I looked at him with a sarcastic expression on my face. “Can't you see that I'm trying to look for it?” I told him. He raised his hands in surrender. “Sorry,” I heard him mutter. I chuckled at his statement, finally able to get the card out of there. “Who would even send you a card?” Sonia interjected. I didn't bother replying to her messages and just rolled my eyes and was finally able to open up the card. ‘I hope when these flowers bring a smile and brighten up your day just like you brighten mine.’ Alex. “It's from Alex,” I scoffed. She smiled. “Why don't you accept him? I mean he's crazy about you. What more is there to waste?” She inquired. Her statement only sent my blood boiling but I just played it cool, ignoring her statement. “Emma,” I called a maid. “Yes, ma'am.” She arrived in time, standing behind me. “Do you need anything?” She inquired. I nodded in response and handed her the flowers. “Please, dumb this in the trash can for me.” “But, I thought—” I looked at her with a scowl on my face. “I don't like to repeat myself, Emma.” She didn't say anything else and just nodded in response. “You can be harsh sometimes,” Sonia stated. I didn't say anything and just ignored her statement. “Are you going to finish it up on time? We have to leave for a meeting,” I told her. She nodded in response and continued eating. I can't believe that Alex would go this far. Sending me flowers? What a psycho! I didn't realize he was that desperate for the throne. Sonia and Maxwell finished their meals. “You drive Sonia there. I gave some important issues to take care of,” I told them. Sonia scoffed. “First, you rush us and now you're taking your time again?” “Did you say something?” I asked. She looked terrified at first but then covered it up with a smile. “I said you looked beautiful today, Laura,” she giggled. I heard everything that she said but just ignored her. I have to get something from the library and don't trust anyone, especially Sonia, to follow me up there. “I think it's better we leave now. We don't want to leave the councils waiting,” Maxwell told her. She nodded in response and left with him, leaving me alone in the mansion. I made my way towards the library upstairs and started looking for the book I had seen earlier. It contained some information that could actually help me with finding the spectra. “Your cousin seems to be a bitch sometimes,” I heard a voice that made me shriek causing me to fall off the ladder but luckily, Niandra caught me in time with her powers. “You?!” I took a sigh of relief. “Why did you sneak up on me like that? You almost gave me a heart attack!” She giggled and the next thing I knew, I landed on my butt. “Ouch!” I winced in pain, massaging my butt. “Why did you do that?” “Relax, you were almost on the ground anyways. It's not like I made you break an ankle or something so stop overreacting.” I glared at her but ignored her statement and continued searching for the book. “Where is it? Where is it?” I kept on searching for it. “Are you looking for this?” I turned around to see Niandra holding the book I was looking for. “How did you know I was searching for that book? Are you spying on me?” She laughed. “You wish? Like I don't have anything other than to watch your butt all day. You left it on the couch and I found it interesting.” I snatched it from her. “Were you reading it? Did you find anything that could be helpful from it?” I inquired, eager to know. “You're really nosy, you know that?” I looked at her with a confused expression on my face. “Nosy? You're literally the one who's in my library right now.” “I was trying to help you,” she stated. I scoffed at her statement. “If you really want to help me, then tell me anything that could help. I have to get that spectrum otherwise I'm toast.” “You're feisty, I like that.” “Are you seriously saying that? We're being serious right now. I'm in a crisis right now, I have to be in a meeting and I need to pitch in something to state that I have everything under control so help me.” I waited for her to say something but she didn't. I sighed, feeling defeated but I wasn't going to give up just yet. I was determined to pull through. “Page sixth five,” I heard her say. I turned to look at her with a confused expression on my face. “Huh?” I asked. “It'd help you. So stop acting like I'm a monster or something, bitch.” I chuckled at her statement and left the library, feeling a bit grateful for her help. I opened the book, scrolling to page sixty five immediately. I found something that helped me and I knew this would also help me get somewhere in my search. I ran outside, all the way to my car. “Let's go,” I ordered my driver. He nodded in response and started the car immediately. I texted Maxwell immediately after that. "We need to meet before the meeting starts. I need you to stall the meeting any way possible. Thank you.” I hope this pulls through at least.Sonia P.O.VFirst she rushes us, and now she's taking her time. Always giving commands like it's her birthright; technically, it is but she doesn't have to be so rude about it."Walk faster, we don't want to keep the elders waiting" Maxwell spoke from the driver's seat of the car. He's so head over heels in love with Laura and she won't even acknowledge him."Well, the meeting probably won't start till Madam Boss Lady, next in line, Alpha's daughter is there so don't rush me" I hissed, rolling my eyes at him. I honestly don't give a damn if that sounded jealous.I rounded the side of the car to sit at the backseat, just because I know it'll annoy him and he wouldn't want to waste time by stalling. "What do you think you're doing? Why not sit here?" He asks, tapping his right hand on the passenger's seat as I opened the back door and settled in comfortably, his left elbow on the rolled down window."I don't want to, let's go" I answered, his face scrunched up like he wanted to argue,
Laura's P.O.VMy driver drove as fast as possible, weaving through pack grounds till we got into Elder Magnus' compound. He's one of the top ranked elders, and according to my past life, very corrupt. Infact, he was the mastermind of everything. My parents really trusted him before their death.I opened to page 65, eyes skimming through the content there, and trying to decipher how I can properly explain its help to the council of elders. I hope Maxwell would be able to hold them off. My phone pinged, halting my thoughts. The screen brightened up, it was a text from Maxwell."Speak of the devil" I murmured.. "or the angel as the case may be"His text read, "I'll try to Alpha." Then three dots appeared underneath to signify he was still typing, "Are you okay?, Are you sure you don't need help?" The second text read. I smiled without even meaning to, always the worrisome one.I'm not oblivious to the fact that he loves me, he's been in love with me for so long. Even in my past life, he
Laura P.O.VWe stepped into Elder Magnus' conference room and the chatter in the room went silent. As expected, Elder Magnus spoke first, "So kind of you to finally join us Alpha", he glared, "It's not like we've been waiting for you for about 30 minutes now or anything" he added, tapping at his wristwatch."Greetings to you too, Elder Magnus" I fixed him a pointed glance to show I was not scared of him. Evil people like him feasted on the fear of others."Welcome Alpha", Elder Lucina greeted bowing her head. She's a kind elder, one of the very few of them who still remained loyal to the pack instead of their pockets. Then Elder Axels, and others in the room followed suit."Thank you elders, I apologize for keeping you waiting" I told them as I headed to the seat at head of the table. The meeting room was designed and arranged just like a normal conference room, with an oval shaped table in the centre, I could count 6 chairs on each side, some of which were unoccupied. Max took his se
Laura's P.O.VIt's been total 24 hours of bliss, as I haven't come across Xavier, and have heard no news of Alex since he sent those wretched flowers of his yesterday morning. So yeah, blissful morning and I hope I didn't just jinx it. I thought back to all that has been happening since my parents died and the actions of the elders yesterday at the meeting. I can't believe this was what my parents had to go through as Alpha and Luna dealing with these corrupt elders in council.I miss my parents so much. I sat at the edge of the bed, my head in my palms, recalling those sweet memories I had with them.A knock on the door took me out of my reverie, I rubbed my face, moisture coating my fingers, and I wiped it off, I didn't even realize I was crying. The knock sounded again, and I quickly looked in the mirror trying to be sure I look as normal as possible. I opened the door, to see Max's right hand raised up, about to continue knocking."Heyyyy" I greeted him shyly."Morning Laura," he
Sonia's P.O.VLaura's departure to the Stone pack excited me a lot. Although the bitch didn't allow me go with them, atleast I have free rein over everybody now. No one would question my actions successfully, especially because Uncle Magnus is the acting Alpha.I sent a short text to Alex to confirm he was home, and to leave the door open to make it easier for me to get in, and he replied with a thumbs up.I slipped away from the group of elders and headed into the pack grounds. I walked past the training grounds pausing at intervals to greet familiar faces and respond to greetings."So-nyyy" A tiny voice screamed my name with excitement. I spread my hands with equal excitement as the chubby figure latched on to my body, tightly gripping my long flowy gown."Baby Liaaa", I drawled, pecking her fat cheeks. I used to volunteer at the hospital and that was where I met Lia. Her mother was one of the rogues who were captured during an attack, they found out she was pregnant and the former
Alpha Cage's P.O.V"Good evening Alpha, one of the Black Pearl Pack members are awake. The doctor said I should inform you so you can see and speak to him." One of the guards I stationed in the room with the strangers informed me.I quickly got into my car and drove to the hospital. Stone pack is very civilized and has more modern infrastructures than most packs.I am the Alpha of Stone pack, one of the most peaceful packs in the land since time immemorial. Our reputation span across the cities and towns and nobody tries to go to war with us. Some have tried, but they got defeated even before they could come close to our grounds. We have allies everywhere, and this is majorly because of the Khan family. Their family has an history of a child in each generation being born with extraordinary wisdom. Our pack is like a tourist attraction because of them as people of different packs and languages come from all around the world to seek solutions to their problems and mysteries. All these a
**Laura POV**“You’re six weeks pregnant Luna” the pack’s doctor’s words echoed in my mind over and over again which made me smile as I rubbed my still flat tummy, admiring myself in the mirror. My heart swelled with so much joy, and I was brimming so much excitement, as I thought of the best time to break the news to my husband.“Baby,” I heard him call softly at me, and I jumped slightly in fright because I wasn't expecting him here. He smiled, his eyes flickering with emotions. He dropped off a tray of mouthwatering cookies on the bedside table, before walking towards me. I gulped, his presence always had a special effect on me.As soon as he came over to me, he engulfed me in an embrace and began peppering featherlight kisses down my neck.“How did the meeting with Alpha Xavier go today?” I moaned, closing my eyes as he began kissing my earlobe. I was almost giving in to his insanely sweet kisses, when he pulled away and pushed me to the bed.“It's too early for sex you know?” I
**Laura POV*I held my breath, praying that she would be my saving grace until she finally stepped into full view. Making me gulp.“Sonia!” I screamed hopefully, my hands outstretched towards her feet, I suddenly felt a ray of hope as she had walked in right on time to save me, for she was my best friend. “Please help me talk Alex out of his craziness” I said my voice feeble and brittle “ He's acting strange and I don't know why?”I couldn't move my body, whatever was in that cookie was very potent as it quickly weakened my defenses.I almost sighed out in relief when she turned to look at Alex with an angry look on her face and she said “ Why didn't you gag her? dummy” Sonia ssid spitefully, as I gasped in shock . No, Not her too!.“I didn't because, I wanted to listen to her shout for help, knowing that no one was going to come to her aid” Alex said with a smirk on his face. I clenched my stomach in pains as they both laughed hysterically, they stopped when their gaze met mine.“
