Chapter 17

Sonia P.O.V

First she rushes us, and now she's taking her time. Always giving commands like it's her birthright; technically, it is but she doesn't have to be so rude about it.

"Walk faster, we don't want to keep the elders waiting" Maxwell spoke from the driver's seat of the car. He's so head over heels in love with Laura and she won't even acknowledge him.

"Well, the meeting probably won't start till Madam Boss Lady, next in line, Alpha's daughter is there so don't rush me" I hissed, rolling my eyes at him. I honestly don't give a damn if that sounded jealous.

I rounded the side of the car to sit at the backseat, just because I know it'll annoy him and he wouldn't want to waste time by stalling.

"What do you think you're doing? Why not sit here?" He asks, tapping his right hand on the passenger's seat as I opened the back door and settled in comfortably, his left elbow on the rolled down window.

"I don't want to, let's go" I answered, his face scrunched up like he wanted to argue, but I quickly cut in, "We're already late as it is, do you really want to explain to the elders that you were late to the meeting because you were too petty to let me sit at the back?"

I knew I got to him when he stepped on the accelerator and the car zoomed away from the front of the house.

"Plus, you can roleplay as my driver for the day" I murmured under my breath. He didn't reply though, either intentionally ignoring me or it was really too low for him to hear.

I just might make him my driver when I become Luna though, if only that bitch would just marry Alex already.

"What did you say?" Maxwell's question interrupted the thoughts in my head, "Who? Me?" I threw back at him trying to figure out what exactly I said out loud.

"No, the third person in the car" he replied, voice dripping with sarcasm

"The third person in the car? but there's no-" Oh, he was being sarcastic, he meant me. I let the silence brew for a minute before letting out my thoughts about Laura and Alex.

"Alex's trying so hard, I don't know why she's being so stubborn and heartless" I said, my voice breaking the silence. I studied Maxwell though, he gripped the steering wheel very tightly, knuckles almost white, and his face hardened even more, his jaw tightly locked.

"I wish she'll just accept him, even the moon goddess paired them together already" I continued, trying to goad him into speaking, everyone knows how much he's in love with Laura, even the maids can testify.

"If you keep quiet, will you die?" He retorted,

"Okay, fine, I will. Turn on the radio" I ordered.

"Turn it on yourself, I'm not your servant" He replied, his teeth tightly clenched. "and it's a little bit too late for that, we're here already" I noticed we already drove into the compound where the meeting was to hold and he was looking for a proper parking spot among the several cars in the parking lot.

"Oh, but if it was Laura that told you to do so, you'd do it without complaints regardless," My words dripped with malice.

I know she's supposed to be my best friend but I hate her so much. She just has everything coming to her easily while the rest of us has to work extra hard for it. Anyways, it's only for a little more time, then she'll be dead like her parents and Alex will rule the pack with me by his side.

It was Elder Magnus' house, as the meeting was high intelligence and those in attendance were very much limited to only the highly ranked. The compound was very large, and the house which was a nice looking bungalow was seated in the middle.

Everywhere was chaotic with the maids and guards running helter skelter, but the chaos was normal and familiar. I grew up with this place as a second home, although our familial relationship is not exposed to the public, Elder Magnus is Uncle Magnus to me, and we have the same ambition.

Maxwell was finally directed to a spot reserved for the Alpha probably, and he alighted immediately after parking, while I deliberately took my sweet time to open the door and step out. He already sees me a bitch anyway so why not derive fun acting like one.

"I don't have a problem with your decision to be as slow as your brain is, but remember there are pack elders in there expecting us." His words felt like a slap on the face.

"It's fine, I'm almost out, don't be such a smart ass" I muttered loud enough for only him to hear. He was about to retort when his phone beeped, he brought it out, stared at it for a few seconds, his countenance flickering between worry and something else I can't describe.

"Who's that?" I asked, but he only raised his eyebrows at me in a haughty manner for a second, before tapping away at his phone.

"Is that Laura?" I tried again, "What did she say?"

"Just go in, I need to make a quick call, I'll meet you inside" He said, not even glancing up from his phone once.

"So now, we're not late anymore huh?, and whoever is texting you is more important than the meeting?" He clocked his tongue, his patience depleting by the seconds.

"This is equally as important Sonia, go in. I'll join you in a minute" His tone left no room for argument, even I can sense he's at the peak right now so I headed towards the door, nodding at the guard at the entrance.

He bowed, opening the door for me to enter. Soon enough, you're all going to be under my control. It's only a matter of time. I wonder what was so important that Maxwell had to excuse himself, I wish I could find out.

I stepped into the large living room, and beckoned at one of the maids. "Hey, lead me to the conference room"

She bowed and nodded also muttering an "Okay ma" under her breath. Soon enough, it'll be "Okay Luna" instead, I smiled at the thought as I stepped into the conference room, and sure enough, the elders were all complete in attendance.

"Where's the Alpha?" Uncle Magnus asked, "and my son also. They're both supposed to be here." The Beta added, and everyone nodded in agreement, low murmurs breaking out.

"Greetings elders, Maxwell is outside, we came together but he had to take a quick important call." I stated and his father nodded in acknowledgement.

"And the Alpha?" Elder Lucinda asked,

"Laura, um..Laura she's not here yet"

"Stop stating the obvious, we wouldn't ask if she were here." Another elder inputted

I tried my best Laura, I racked my brain for how to put my words together in a way that would show her off as bad and incompetent. "Well, she's--"

"--almost here my elders, Greetings" Maxwell interrupted as he stepped in behind me. I didn't even notice him come in.
