**Laura's POV**
I, Laura, stood at the forefront of the funeral procession, my heart heavy with grief. It felt the same... Everything still felt fresh and i felt like suffocating l. The pain had me vulnerable and I weeped for my own inability of being strong. That day had finally come to bif my beloved parents, the late Alpha and Luna. The pack members gathered around, their faces somber and respectful. As we made our way to the burial site which was few meters away from the pack house, I couldn't help but think of all the memories I shared with my parents. The laughter, the adventures, the wise counsel they had given me over the years. My eyes welled up with tears, but I fought to keep them back, knowing I had to be strong for my pack. The ceremony began, and the council members took turns sharing stories and memories of my parents leadership and bravery. I listened, my throat constricting with emotion, as they spike their wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication to our pack. Of course they didn't forget to add the part where my parents ruled very well because my dad had a mate. The discussion and talks about how important a mate is went on and on. My mond remained unwavering because I know what they are all referring to but remained calm. When it was my turn to speak, I took in a deep breath and eulogize my parents. I had to be strong and not put on an act. I bowed to know the real reason behind my parents death and I will. My voice trembled at first, but I spoke, my words grew stringer, fueled by my love and admiration for them. As we lowered their bodies into the ground, I felt a lump in my throat. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer. I wept openly, mourning the loss of mt parents, my leaders, and my guiding lights. Sonia walked up to me in a bid to console me, I was bitter but I embraced her. The pack members sorrounded me, offering comfort and support. Maxwell placed a hand on my shoulders as he gently rubbed them. I really wanted to immerse my self in his embrace but I can't, for his safety. Elder Magnus whispered words of condolence in my ear. As the burial rites concluded, I felt a sense of emptiness wash over me. I would never see them again. I knew my parents were gone, but I also knew that their legacy lived on through me and I was determined to honor their memory by leading our pack with strength, wisdom and love. I took one last look at the grave, my heart heavy with sorrow and whispered final farewell to my beloved parents. May their soul rest on with the moon goddess and may they continue to guide me through in my journey as an Alpha. As walked away from the burial site, I felt a sense of resolve wash over m. I knew I had to be strong for my pack and fight off all my foes. I thought about it and realized that being defiant to them at all times might end me as I had alot to do. I must lead my pack members through this difficult time with wisdom. I took a deep breath and turned around to face my pack members. "Let's honour our late Alpha and Luna by continuing their legacy," I said my voice firm and resolute. "We will rebuild and move forward, together." "We can also rebuild their legacy when you choose a mate, their legacy can't be rebuilt without that." Xavier said through the crowd and I only controlled by gritting my teeths. He might be strong but as of now, he's no match for me. The pack members nodded in agreement, their eyes filled with determination. We knew that the road ahead would be difficult, but we were ready to face it together. Walking back to the pack, I couldn't help but think of a stranger who had appeared out of no where. He had been standing there at the edge of the crowd, his eyes fixed on me with intensity that made my skin crawl. I had no idea who he was or what he wanted, but I knew that I would have to be wary of him. I couldn't let my guard down, not now, not ever. As we entered the pack, I could feel the weight of my responsibilities bearing down on me. I was the new Alpha, and it was up to me to protect and lead my pack. They will go all round talking about a mate but damn, I'm not up for all that. I've made up my mind. "Be strong, okay?" Maxwell walked up to me and muttered with care. "I'm trying to be.". I answered truthfully. "Don't try, you have to be strong." He added and all I could was smile at his words. "Xavier.... I would take care of him." Maxwell added. "You don't have to, I can protect myself and we'll, handle him." I half shrugged and watched as Maxwell's lips pursed into a thin line. He was controlling his laughter, well, I laughed. I took a deep breath and squared my shoulders, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. And then, I saw him. The stranger. He was standing in the center of the pack house, his eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity. "Who are you?" I demanded, my voice firm and commanding. He smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "I am someone who knows your secrets, Laura," he said, his voice low and menacing. And I would lace it out to Magnus so you can be eliminated. " I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that this stranger was not just any ordinary threat. He was a threat to my very existence, and to the Alpha throne. The first mysterious man, and this now?**Laura's POV**As the days went by, no words were heard from the mysterious man who was hell bent over the spectra which made me nervous because I know that he was going to come back, that's for sure.No one is certain if he's truly the beast of the east but then, let's forget about him. I haven't paid much attention to elder Magnus but his action's this time got me curious of what his true motives were. "I feel sometimes is off." I complained to Maxwell while we took a stroll in the river bank at the back of the pack house. I love visiting here whenever I wanted absolute peace. The green tress, the water falls, slow and rhymatic waves of water... Everything speaks about nature and it's perfect output."Forget about everything now and feel happy for once. Enjoy yourself and stop being hard on yourself.. remember that the evil ones would keep doing evil and not a soul can change that about them." He advised and i admired him alot. How blind was I that i didn't even notice him in my
**Laura's POV**"I was sent by the beast of the east." Niandra blurted out causing everyone to stop whatever they were doing. Everyone dreaded to hear that name and how can she say it without fear?"What does he want with us?" Elder Draco asked immediately."I don't think I need to explain anything as you have encountered him once or twice if I'm not mistaking. " Niandra stated and I struggled to find the soft lady I met few seconds ago but couldn't. Who sat before me was nothing but a cold and ruthless lady. She looks like a siren but damn it she ain't."Are you a siren? " Sonia asked with jealousy and pure hate in her eyes. Sonia has always been like this, she easily muster up hatred for someone. "I didn't come here for you so I guess I owe you no answer. Niandra replied without soaring Sonia another glance. "So, the beast of the east is the man who —""I don't know what man you're talking about but according to him, he has encountered y'all before. Think about it." Niandra replie
**Laura's POV**It's been paste weeks and now words from anyone pertaining the Spectra but things keeps happening.I couldn't help but imagine the demon Sonia had turned herself into .How absurd! I slowly stared at everyone and could see a mixture of guilt displayed on their faces. Sonia tried to hold up the deviant devilish look but it was clear she couldn't hold it up for long. I've already had enough of their stupidity and I was fed up with everything. I really do not care how Elder Magnus stared at me right now, but honestly, if looks could kill, I'd be dead."Whatever you do, don't you dare think this would be the end of everything... Just put a smile on your face while you still have the chance to do so!" Niandra warned angrily and i was trying to proceed what exactly had happen. " Gone are the days where I'd get scared of you Sonia... You're nothing but a cloud and the moment you disappear, it becomes beautiful all day... " Niandra retorted while she huffed." Sonia, do
**Laura's POV**I got frightened at the sight before me. I didn't know Sonia could go this far by doing this in open. "What do you think you're doing? Don't tell me you're the mastermind of this?" I muttered in shock." Common on, I can be that stupid, no matter how I really want to deal with you, I can't go to this length." Sonia replied with a sly smirk displayed on her face. I don't trust her, not even in this situation. She just made it clear that she wants to deal with me... I can't even let my guards down. I was naive before but she'll suffer. She must suffer. I looked at Maxwell who was still resting in my arms and wondered what I was going to do with him."Why is there a sword in your hand?" I asked curiously, obviously not minding the innocent look on her face.I noticed that Maxwell was beginning to get himself which got me a little bit excited. I looked backwards only to realize that the rouges were still fighting to come in.Maxwell is the son of the beta, he's fathe
**Laura's POV**Two weeks ago, I hosted an Alpha hurdle because I was advised to do so by the council of elders. Everything seems so good now. The Alpha's hurdle was still on and bored me decided to walk around for a while. I stood up and what I had in mind was going to meet up with Maxwell wherever he was. I don't even care if he's with the others.... .I need him. "Laura?" Sonia called me immediately she laid her eyes on me. If she talks like this and behaves like this I don't think we'd ever have issues."How can I help you." I asked her with hands akimbo."Nothing, don't act like anything is special about you, just wanted to have drinks with you." She replied sarcastically rolling her eyes at me.I scoffed and retorted back, I rolled my eye at her too.I really do want to have a very cold drink for real but the thing is, I don't and at the same time, I want to. I can't resist the urge so I'll just have her make it already. "Standing there and drooling at the same time won't make
LAURAI was eating my breakfast silently when a maid walked up to me with a bouquet of flowers. “Good morning, Luna. Someone sent these for you,” she said.I was confused at first but collected it, eager to check the card. “Who is it from?” I asked her.“I…I don't know. A guard just told me to give it to you,” she replied.“Okay, you may go,” I dismissed her.I started hassling the flowers, trying to get the card out but it somewhat got stuck in the flowers. “Where the fuck is it?” I tried looking for it, but it was stuck.“Who is from?” Maxwell inquired. I looked at him with a sarcastic expression on my face. “Can't you see that I'm trying to look for it?” I told him.He raised his hands in surrender. “Sorry,” I heard him mutter. I chuckled at his statement, finally able to get the card out of there.“Who would even send you a card?” Sonia interjected. I didn't bother replying to her messages and just rolled my eyes and was finally able to open up the card.‘I hope when these flower
Sonia P.O.VFirst she rushes us, and now she's taking her time. Always giving commands like it's her birthright; technically, it is but she doesn't have to be so rude about it."Walk faster, we don't want to keep the elders waiting" Maxwell spoke from the driver's seat of the car. He's so head over heels in love with Laura and she won't even acknowledge him."Well, the meeting probably won't start till Madam Boss Lady, next in line, Alpha's daughter is there so don't rush me" I hissed, rolling my eyes at him. I honestly don't give a damn if that sounded jealous.I rounded the side of the car to sit at the backseat, just because I know it'll annoy him and he wouldn't want to waste time by stalling. "What do you think you're doing? Why not sit here?" He asks, tapping his right hand on the passenger's seat as I opened the back door and settled in comfortably, his left elbow on the rolled down window."I don't want to, let's go" I answered, his face scrunched up like he wanted to argue,
Laura's P.O.VMy driver drove as fast as possible, weaving through pack grounds till we got into Elder Magnus' compound. He's one of the top ranked elders, and according to my past life, very corrupt. Infact, he was the mastermind of everything. My parents really trusted him before their death.I opened to page 65, eyes skimming through the content there, and trying to decipher how I can properly explain its help to the council of elders. I hope Maxwell would be able to hold them off. My phone pinged, halting my thoughts. The screen brightened up, it was a text from Maxwell."Speak of the devil" I murmured.. "or the angel as the case may be"His text read, "I'll try to Alpha." Then three dots appeared underneath to signify he was still typing, "Are you okay?, Are you sure you don't need help?" The second text read. I smiled without even meaning to, always the worrisome one.I'm not oblivious to the fact that he loves me, he's been in love with me for so long. Even in my past life, he
