Chapter 10

**Laura's POV**

I, Laura, stood at the forefront of the funeral procession, my heart heavy with grief. It felt the same... Everything still felt fresh and i felt like suffocating l. The pain had me vulnerable and I weeped for my own inability of being strong. That day had finally come to bif my beloved parents, the late Alpha and Luna. The pack members gathered around, their faces somber and respectful.

As we made our way to the burial site which was few meters away from the pack house, I couldn't help but think of all the memories I shared with my parents. The laughter, the adventures, the wise counsel they had given me over the years. My eyes welled up with tears, but I fought to keep them back, knowing I had to be strong for my pack.

The ceremony began, and the council members took turns sharing stories and memories of my parents leadership and bravery. I listened, my throat constricting with emotion, as they spike their wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication to our pack.

Of course they didn't forget to add the part where my parents ruled very well because my dad had a mate. The discussion and talks about how important a mate is went on and on. My mond remained unwavering because I know what they are all referring to but remained calm.

When it was my turn to speak, I took in a deep breath and eulogize my parents. I had to be strong and not put on an act. I bowed to know the real reason behind my parents death and I will. My voice trembled at first, but I spoke, my words grew stringer, fueled by my love and admiration for them.

As we lowered their bodies into the ground, I felt a lump in my throat. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer. I wept openly, mourning the loss of mt parents, my leaders, and my guiding lights. Sonia walked up to me in a bid to console me, I was bitter but I embraced her.

The pack members sorrounded me, offering comfort and support. Maxwell placed a hand on my shoulders as he gently rubbed them. I really wanted to immerse my self in his embrace but I can't, for his safety. Elder Magnus whispered words of condolence in my ear.

As the burial rites concluded, I felt a sense of emptiness wash over me. I would never see them again. I knew my parents were gone, but I also knew that their legacy lived on through me and I was determined to honor their memory by leading our pack with strength, wisdom and love.

I took one last look at the grave, my heart heavy with sorrow and whispered final farewell to my beloved parents. May their soul rest on with the moon goddess and may they continue to guide me through in my journey as an Alpha.

As walked away from the burial site, I felt a sense of resolve wash over m. I knew I had to be strong for my pack and fight off all my foes. I thought about it and realized that being defiant to them at all times might end me as I had alot to do. I must lead my pack members through this difficult time with wisdom.

I took a deep breath and turned around to face my pack members. "Let's honour our late Alpha and Luna by continuing their legacy," I said my voice firm and resolute. "We will rebuild and move forward, together."

"We can also rebuild their legacy when you choose a mate, their legacy can't be rebuilt without that." Xavier said through the crowd and I only controlled by gritting my teeths. He might be strong but as of now, he's no match for me.

The pack members nodded in agreement, their eyes filled with determination. We knew that the road ahead would be difficult, but we were ready to face it together.

Walking back to the pack, I couldn't help but think of a stranger who had appeared out of no where. He had been standing there at the edge of the crowd, his eyes fixed on me with intensity that made my skin crawl. I had no idea who he was or what he wanted, but I knew that I would have to be wary of him. I couldn't let my guard down, not now, not ever.

As we entered the pack, I could feel the weight of my responsibilities bearing down on me. I was the new Alpha, and it was up to me to protect and lead my pack.

They will go all round talking about a mate but damn, I'm not up for all that. I've made up my mind.

"Be strong, okay?" Maxwell walked up to me and muttered with care.

"I'm trying to be.". I answered truthfully.

"Don't try, you have to be strong." He added and all I could was smile at his words.

"Xavier.... I would take care of him." Maxwell added.

"You don't have to, I can protect myself and we'll, handle him." I half shrugged and watched as Maxwell's lips pursed into a thin line.

He was controlling his laughter, well, I laughed.

I took a deep breath and squared my shoulders, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

And then, I saw him. The stranger. He was standing in the center of the pack house, his eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity.

"Who are you?" I demanded, my voice firm and commanding.

He smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "I am someone who knows your secrets, Laura," he said, his voice low and menacing. And I would lace it out to Magnus so you can be eliminated. "

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that this stranger was not just any ordinary threat. He was a threat to my very existence, and to the Alpha throne.

The first mysterious man, and this now?
