Chapter 1

For three whole years, Savannah Lexington had been waiting to return to her home country to reunite with Oliver Frost. However, she never thought that she would be served with divorce papers the first day she came home.

"Divorce? This joke isn't funny at all."

Savannah looked at the man in front of her. He wore a tailored, pure-black suit that day, and he looked cold and aloof. This was the same man she'd been missing every single day. But now, he felt like a total stranger to her.

"I don't have time for jokes. Just go through the divorce papers and sign them if there are no issues with it," Oliver answered coldly.

"Can I at least know why?" Savannah asked, her voice trembling.

"Savannah, you were gone for three whole years. And for these three years, Esther has always been the one by my side. It's thanks to our effort and support that Frost Entertainment is what it is now. I don't want to disappoint her."

"You don't want to disappoint her, so you're fine with disappointing me? Oliver Frost, was I the one who wanted to leave you for three years? I left because I was caring for your mother!"

Three years ago, Savannah had just registered her marriage with Oliver and hadn't had time to proceed with the wedding yet when his mother, Molly Nickerson, had been diagnosed with uremia.

Since the wait for a suitable kidney was long and endless within the country, Molly went abroad for her treatment.

Savannah had been taking care of Molly for three years until she finally recovered. However, she never thought that she would be met with Oliver's betrayal as soon as she returned.

"Oliver, do you remember what you said when you proposed to me?"

Three years ago, Oliver had gone down on one knee as he proposed to her with a diamond ring, looking her sincerely in the eyes as he said, "Sav, please give me a chance to be your husband and part of your family.

"I will love you, cherish you, spoil you, and be with you for the rest of our lives, even if the world ended the very next day."

His gesture had touched Savannah. So, she gave up her booming career and willingly went abroad to care for Molly. But now, the person who made such a promise to her was telling her that he was in love with someone else.

"I really liked you then, but that's different from love," Oliver said, his cold eyes finally showing a slight hint of remorse.

"I only knew what true love was after I met Esther. She's different from you. She's not the kind of woman who hides behind men all the time. She's the definition of a strong and assertive woman, like a towering oak tree.

"She didn't come from a rich family, but she persevered and worked hard. Now, she has become the brightest star, especially when she stands in the limelight. It's hard for me not to be attracted to her…"

Savannah didn't want to listen to his love story with another woman. She interrupted him with a cold laugh and said, "She's the brightest star in the limelight? And you find her attractive?

"Oliver Frost, have you forgotten that I won Best Actress at the Roscars before I married you? I gave up my whole career for you!"

"I never forced you to give up your acting career. It was your choice," Oliver said adamantly.

Savannah couldn't believe what he was saying.

"Have you even talked to your mother about this? Divorce is not something we can take lightly. Your mom would never agree to it!" Savannah said, trying her best not to let her tears fall.

"Mom's already met Esther. Esther is gentle and smart. Mom loves her very much. Also, Esther is pregnant with my child. You know Mom loves kids, and she's about to meet her grandchild very soon. Why would she ever say no to that?"

So, in other words, they were all a big, happy family. Savannah was the one in the way of their happiness.

She felt like her heart was being stabbed. The pain was suffocating.

For three whole years, she had taken care of Molly. She gave up her promising acting career to attend to her every need. She did everything herself, including feeding her, bathing her, and even changing her diapers, until Molly recovered fully.

But now that Molly no longer needed Savannah, they thought it was time to throw her out.

Savannah didn't know what else to say as they both fell into silence.

However, right at that moment, Oliver's phone started ringing on the table. Savannah saw the caller ID on the screen at once. It said, "Esther xxx".

Oliver took his phone and went out to the balcony to answer it.

Savannah couldn't hear him. However, she saw a gentleness on his face that she'd never seen in a long time.

After ending his call, Oliver came back to Savannah, the gentleness on his face now replaced with impatience.

"Savannah," he said exasperatedly, "I let you down, but I've made it up to you in the divorce agreement. Let's part on a peaceful note. You're only going to make things worse for yourself if you continue kicking up a fuss over this."

Then, he got up and left.

The door shut with a loud bang, just like her heart that had been shattered to pieces after being dropped on the floor. It hurt a lot.

Savannah stared at the divorce papers before her. Her mind was completely blank. She stayed there in a daze until her housekeeper, Wanda Merlot, walked in.

"Sav, are you okay?" Wanda asked, looking at her worriedly.

Wanda used to work in the Lexington household and witnessed Savannah growing up. After Savannah's mother passed away, Wanda was the only person left in the world who would take care of her. She was like a mother figure to Savannah.

"Wanda," Savannah sobbed, leaning into Wanda's arms. Her tears finally appeared and streamed down her face. "Wanda, don't you think I'm the stupidest person ever?"

"Silly girl. I've told you in the past that a marriage like this where you help him out a lot financially is extremely risky. You'd be lucky if your partner had a conscience, but if he doesn't, then you can only ruin him," Wanda said with a sigh.

Three years ago, Oliver's father, Logan Frost, had passed away in an accident. With the sudden loss of his income, the Frost family faced bankruptcy. Savannah had then used the money her mother left her and helped the Frost family back to their feet.

Moreover, she even went abroad to care for Molly for three years so that Oliver could focus on his career without worrying about anything else.

She thought that she had to be a good and responsible wife since she'd married Oliver. She should be supportive of his career and take good care of his mother so that they could live happily forever.

As it turned out, everything had all just been her wishful thinking. Her sacrifices had been in vain.

After a good cry, she dried her eyes and put her emotions in check, tucking them away. She then grabbed her phone and called Natasha Granger's number.

Natasha was her best friend. She had also been Savannah's manager in the past.

"Natasha, please make a list of all the assets and properties under Oliver's name. Also, check his relationship with Esther Stone for the past three years. And… get me a trusted lawyer. I want a divorce."

Natasha went silent after hearing what Savannah had to say. Then, she asked, "Have you thought it through?"

"Yes."

"Alright. I'll be in touch."

After hanging up, Savannah set her phone down on the table and looked at Wanda, whose face was etched in worry.

"Don't worry, Wanda. It's just a divorce. It's not the end of the world."

"Sav, marriage is not child's play. Are you sure you want to divorce him?"

"Yes," Savannah said, nodding without hesitation. "He got involved with another woman at home while I cared for his mother while abroad. He even has a kid on the way now. I don't want to keep such a filthy man around anymore."

"But…"

Wanda still wanted to talk her out of it, but at that moment, someone opened the door and walked straight in without knocking.

It was Riley Frost, Oliver's younger sister. "Mom wants to talk to you," she said haughtily to Savannah.

"If Mrs. Frost wants to talk to you, that means she doesn't want you to get divorced. Sav, you know that she likes you the most. You should ask her to talk to Oliver. He listens to his mom," Wanda said, grabbing Savannah's hands.

Wanda had a slightly more traditional mindset and thought that a divorce was the worst thing to happen.

Savannah pressed her lips into a thin line and kept quiet. Her eyes dimmed.

Riley scoffed at Wanda's words. "I knew you guys would be shameless and want to continue leeching on us forever."

Savannah didn't bother arguing unnecessarily with Riley. She just followed her into Molly's room.

Molly sat on her bed. Her eyes were red, and she looked quite sad.

"Sav," she started, taking Savannah's hand in hers. "Oliver is such a bastard for doing such a thing without my knowing. It's my fault for being a bad mother to him. The Frost family has let you down.

"But now, Esther's pregnant with his child. There's nothing he can do about it but marry her."
