Savannah hesitated for a moment. "You don't have to do this again next time. I owe you too much. I can't afford to pay you back."

Maxwell's warm hand was still holding her wrist as he kept his emotions in check. After a moment, he laughed self-deprecatingly and let her go.

Savannah hurried to the elevator. When she returned to her condo, she was still a little dazed.

"You're back, Sav," Wanda greeted her with a smile. "Were you at a banquet earlier? You look so pretty."

"Yes," Savannah answered noncommittally, sitting on the couch in a trance.

The diamond fragments on her dress glittered brightly, reflecting the light from the chandelier overhead. How could Maxwell not have picked a beautiful dress? He had always had good taste.

"What's the matter? Are you upset?" Wanda grew worried, seeing how quiet she was being.

"I'm fine. I'm just a little tired. You can go and rest. You don't have to worry about me." Savannah shook her face, forcing a small smile.
