Chapter 2

Molly hugged Savannah in her arms, holding her dear as she said, "Sav, I know that you love Oliver. Actually, the marriage certificate is just a piece of paper. It doesn't matter whether it exists or not. You can still stay with us even after your divorce. You're my only daughter-in-law, and no one else."

Savannah had initially still harbored some hope in Molly. After all, she had been taking care of her while abroad for the past three years, and Molly had always seemed delighted with her and treated her as her own daughter.

Now, however, even the last of Savannah's hopes had faded.

"In other words, you want me to continue staying on as Oliver's mistress after the divorce?"

"Sav, listen to me. Don't treat the marriage certificate as a huge deal," Molly said meaningfully.

"Since it isn't a big deal, why should Oliver divorce me? Just let Esther continue being his little mistress, then."

"Esther is very popular and the star actress in Frost Entertainment now. How could she possibly be a mistress?" Riley asked, butting in impatiently.

She had continued with her studies within the country, so she was very close to Esther. In contrast, she didn't have a relationship with Savannah at all.

"Esther knew Oliver was married, yet she still slept with him. She's already proved herself to be the shameless mistress in the first place," Savannah shot back at Riley.

"Why you…" Riley glared at Savannah. Just as she was about to talk back, Molly stopped her.

"Alright, that's enough," Molly said, pretending to scold Riley.

Then, she looked at Savannah and said with a sigh, "Sav, you know that Esther is the top actress in Frost Entertainment, and the company needs her.

"But she refuses to continue her contract without a proper title to her name. There's nothing else Oliver can do but divorce you and marry her."

Savannah finally understood their intentions. Since Esther was one of the most popular celebrities now, the company needed her to continue making profits for the Frost family. In contrast, she had already lost all her value.

"What do you mean by him not having a choice? Three years ago, Oliver didn't want me to go abroad with you, but you threatened to take your life if I didn't. You forced him into saying yes. So, why can't you do the same thing now?"

Back then, Savannah and Olier had only just received their marriage certificate and were in their honeymoon phase, so he naturally didn't want her to leave.

Molly refused to leave the country by herself for the treatment, so she made a huge fuss about it and even swore off treatment, putting her life on the line until Oliver finally gave in to her.

"Who do you think you are, Savannah, to make Mom force Ollie into doing things?" Riley yelled with her hands on her hips.

Of course, Molly could do whatever she wanted to benefit herself, but she wasn't going to waste any of her time and effort on other people.

Savannah could only blame herself for being blind and stupid in the past. How could she ever have thought that the Frosts were good people?

"Whatever it is, I know that you're both just trying to kick me out of the family. Fine, I'll agree to the divorce," Savannah said tiredly.

"Ha! At least you know when to give up," Riley said, cocking her chin. "Then hurry up and move out of this house. You only have one day. Don't leech off us anymore."

"Sav, I'll really miss you. But, I have no other choice," Molly said, tugging on Savannah's hand. Her other hand was on her heart, trying to look as miserable as she could.

"Mrs. Frost, I think we can stop acting like family now. You're overdoing it. It's getting tiresome," Savannah said, flinging Molly's hand away in disgust.

She then looked at both Molly and Riley and said, "You both have one day to leave this house. From today onward, we won't have anything to do with each other anymore."

"Savannah, are you out of your mind? My father bought this house when he was still alive. It belongs to the Frost family. Who gave you the right to chase us out?"

"Yes, this house used to belong to your father, but after he passed away, your family went bankrupt, and the bank foreclosed on it. If I hadn't bought it back, you all would have been homeless.

"Now, please move all your things out of my house. Otherwise, I'm going to call the police on you for trespassing."

Savannah didn't bother continuing to argue with Molly and Riley anymore. She turned and left after saying all she had to say.

"Mom, look at how ridiculous she's being!" Riley exclaimed, pointing at the door as she stomped her foot in anger.

"Alright. What's the point of you getting mad at her? Your brother already agreed to give her a house in his divorce agreement.

"Since she likes this villa so much, she can have it. Oliver had plenty of other properties under his name that are better than this. We don't need to worry about not having a place to stay."

As soon as she was done speaking, someone knocked on the door. It was the butler. He said, "Mrs. Frost, Ms. Lexington has just left with her suitcase."

"She left?" Molly was surprised.

"Tch, and there I was thinking she'd be able to hold out a little longer. She still left with her tail between her legs," Riley said with a laugh.

"Savannah must be regretting having said such harsh words to us. That's why she left of her own accord. She's completely in love with your brother. Otherwise, she wouldn't have waited on me hand and foot for three years.

"You should be more polite with her when she comes back in a few days. She's quite a good caretaker. With her taking care of me, you and Oliver can both focus on your careers without a care in the world."

"Fine, fine. I'll be civil to her if she knows her place in this household," Riley said begrudgingly.

"Where's your brother?" Molly asked.

"He went out. He said he's going to propose to Esther tonight and rented out the entire hotel by the river. He even said he's going to release fireworks over the river later."

"What's with all the extravagance? It's such a waste of money. He had proposed to Savannah in a very simple way. But I guess it's not a bad thing after all," Molly said.

She did have more to say about Oliver's actions. However, thinking that her new daughter-in-law was an A-list celebrity, Molly decided to stop complaining about it.

Savannah packed up some of her personal items and left the Frost residence. She then headed straight for Natasha's apartment.

"Why are you here so late in the day? Did something happen?" Natasha asked. She had gone to open the door for Savannah and saw her sitting on her suitcase at the door.

Savannah's hair was tied up in a ponytail and she was dressed in a simple T-shirt and jeans. She looked at Natasha with her huge, slightly reddened eyes, looking sad and pitiful like an abandoned little puppy.

"Staying at the Frost residence gives me a bad feeling. So, I came over to stay with you for a few days," Savannah replied with a shrug as she dragged her suitcase in.

Natasha hurriedly tidied up the guest room. Then, seeing that Savannah looked a little pale, she urged her to rest early.

Savannah had just touched down not too long ago, so she was still jet-lagged. She fell asleep in her groggy state and woke up the next day to the news of Oliver setting off fireworks for Esther by the riverside for the whole of last night. He even made headlines and trended online because of that.

It was a cliché yet romantic love story between a rich CEO and a popular celebrity, and the public ate it all up. Shortly after, Esther posted a photo of a positive pregnancy test on her social media, telling the world they were expecting very soon.

Since Savannah and Oliver had only registered their marriage and never held a wedding, only both sides of their families knew that they were married.

To the rest of the public, however, Oliver was still assumed to be a bachelor. He was, therefore, the perfect match for Esther because they looked so good together.

"Oliver's such a scrooge and a bastard. He only bought you a ring and a bouquet of flowers when he proposed to you. He reeks of stinginess. Only you would want to take him in because you were so head-over-heels in love with him. Look at him now, willing to spend so much money on other women!"

Natasha had seen the trending hashtags. She got so angry and worked up that she'd skipped breakfast altogether.

Meanwhile, Savannah would never let herself go hungry and continued eating her seafood chowder. However, everything that went into her mouth tasted bitter.

When she was still with Oliver, his family had been on the verge of bankruptcy. He had been so poor and broke that he only had his sincerity left. And Savannah had accepted him as he was.

Now, Frost Entertainment was doing very well, so Oliver probably didn't mind spending a fortune as long as he made his lover happy. That was on par with what the CEO of a hugely successful entertainment company should be doing, anyway.

"Keep stuffing yourself, won't you? How do you still have an appetite for anything? Aren't you mad?" Natasha couldn't help getting angry when she saw that Savannah was still taking her time with her food.

"What's the point of getting mad? Every cent he spends now is part of our matrimonial assets. And I will make sure that he returns every single cent he spent."
