Chapter 7

Oliver's expression turned icy at Savannah's words. In the next moment, he slammed an asset breakdown in front of her, his voice laced with anger. "After cashing in 51% of Frost Entertainment's shares, I'll have around 600 million dollars.

"This is a list of all my fixed and non-fixed assets, which also totals about 600 million dollars. If you agree, you can sign the divorce papers."

Savannah handed the asset breakdown to Hanson. After he reviewed it and confirmed everything was accurate, she signed her name on the divorce agreement without hesitation.

Oliver watched as she slid the signed papers back toward him. This was precisely the outcome he had wanted, yet seeing her name on the documents filled him with an inexplicable frustration.

Gripping the pen tightly, he scrawled his signature with such force that he nearly tore the paper.

"Are you satisfied now?" he asked as he tossed the pen aside, his gaze sharp and penetrating.

"What do you want me to be satisfied about?" Savannah scoffed. "The money's mine to begin with, and every cent you earned while we were married is joint property. Oliver, this is what I deserve."

She slipped the signed agreement into her bag and added, "Now that we've finalized the divorce, we should head to family court next week to get the divorce decree."

"Are you really that eager to end things?" Oliver questioned, scrutinizing her.

"I'm just looking out for you. I wouldn't want your dear Esther getting impatient."

With that, Savannah rose to leave.

"Savannah," Oliver called out suddenly.

"Is there something else?"

"Don't you have anything to say to me?"

Oliver's intense gaze lingered on her as he spoke. He noticed the dark circles under her eyes and couldn't help but feel somewhat guilty.

Savannah stopped in her tracks, as if weighing his question carefully. Then, she said, "Oliver, when you proposed, you promised you'd always be there for me and love me until the end of time. Looking back, I see now that there's no such thing as an end to time. Your vows were just a joke from the start."

Having said her piece, she clutched her bag, which held the divorce papers, and walked out without looking back.

The drive home was quiet. Savannah gazed out the window, watching the familiar yet distant scenery blur past. Perhaps this was what it felt like for the world to stay the same while the people within it moved on.

Her marriage to Oliver was never rooted in deep love, yet she had once pictured them growing old together.

Unfortunately, reality had set in, leaving nothing but a disappointing end.

"What are your plans after the divorce? Thinking about going overseas to clear your head?" Natasha asked.

Savannah turned from the window to face her friend. "No, but I'd like you to help me find some work. I'm ready to get back into acting."

Her failed marriage had taught her a valuable lesson—that having her own career was more important than revolving her life around a man or family. In the end, the only person she could truly rely on was herself.

"You want to return to acting? That's fantastic!" Natasha exclaimed, her initial surprise quickly turning into enthusiastic support.

She had never supported Savannah's decision to step away from the industry. With her talent and looks, Savannah had been destined for success, but she had stubbornly given it all up for Oliver.

"I'll start sifting through scripts as soon as we're back. With me as your manager, you'll be back on top in no time!" Natasha declared, thumping her chest confidently.

"Okay," Savannah replied with a smile.

Meanwhile, Oliver returned home from the law firm. Although signing the divorce agreement had been far easier than working overtime, an unusual weariness settled over him.

Riley, oblivious to his mood, pestered him with questions.

"Ollie, you and Savannah are officially divorced, right? That's great! You have no idea how stingy she was. When her mom passed, she inherited a fortune, yet all she gave me when we first met was a bracelet worth 300 thousand dollars. At least Esther is generous. She buys me all the jewelry and bags I love!"

Had Savannah been there, she would have surely reflected on how easily people could forget kindness once they had a taste of luxury.

Back when the Fosters were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, Riley had so little that she had to wear her school uniform every day.

It was Savannah who stepped in, spending money to buy Riley beautiful clothes and jewelry. She even threw birthday parties and helped Riley live like a pampered heiress again.

Meanwhile, all of Esther's gifts had been bought with Oliver's money.

"Uh-huh," Oliver replied dismissively as he went up the wooden stairs and entered Molly's room.

"Did you get the divorce papers signed?" Molly asked from her bed, propped up due to not feeling well.

Oliver hummed in response.

"Maybe it's for the best. Ever since Savannah came back, she hasn't been herself. I used to think she was so obedient and respectful," Molly remarked with a sigh. She then waved for him to leave.

However, Oliver stood rooted to the spot. "Mom, you and Riley should pack your things over the next couple of days. I'll arrange for movers to come once you're ready."

"Are we moving to the villa?" Molly asked. "Oh, don't rush it. I'm not feeling well lately, and I'd rather avoid all that hassle."

"No, not the villa. We're moving to an apartment outside Third Avenue," Oliver replied awkwardly.

"Why are we moving there? That's too inconvenient."

Oliver explained, "Savannah and I are divorced now. She wanted 51% of Frost Entertainment's shares, so I had to liquidate them at market value. Everything I own, including this apartment, belongs to her now. I'm sorry, Mom, but you and Riley will need to stay outside Third Avenue for the time being."

"What?" Molly's mind went blank for a moment.

Once she registered his word, she let out a scream. "Why? Why should your assets go to her?"

"If it weren't for Savannah's investment in the company back then, Frost Entertainment would have gone bankrupt. Settling this with money is better than handing the company over to her."

"She willingly invested that money! We didn't force her to do it! What right does she have to claim it back?"

As the thought of losing millions of dollars sank in, Molly's head began to spin.

"Mom…" Oliver's eyes reflected his resignation. He struggled to find the right words to make her understand.

After all, Savannah had indeed invested millions in Frost Entertainment. It wasn't a gift, and he couldn't deny the truth.

"Then don't get divorced! Drag this out forever and make her live like a widow! How dare she think she can just take millions from us!" Molly bellowed, her gaze darkening with frustration as she pounded the bed.

"Mom, if I don't agree to Savannah's terms, she'll go public about our marriage. By then, Esther will be labeled a homewrecker, and her career will suffer."

"How could she be so cruel? Marrying such a heartless woman has brought nothing but misfortune to our family!"

Molly knew she had to protect Esther's reputation. As a famous celebrity, she was Frost Entertainment's cash cow.

Nevertheless, she couldn't accept this. Her body trembled with rage, and soon darkness closed in around her; she fainted.
