Chapter 3

Savannah set down her spoon and dabbed at her mouth with a napkin. Then, she asked Natasha, "Have you compiled the things I requested?"

"Yes." Natasha nodded. She then retrieved a folder from the TV cabinet and handed it over to Savannah.

"Frost Entertainment has been quite profitable over the past three years. Besides investing in some stock funds, he also bought several properties under his name.

"Not long ago, he even bought Esther's parents a huge apartment in the city center. Copies of the payment records and purchase receipt are all inside the folder."

Savannah looked at the purchase agreement in her hand and thought it was rather ironic. The down-and-out young man who kept running into obstacles and couldn't even afford to pay back his bank interest could now afford to buy his mistress' parents an apartment.

"What about Esther Stone?"

"Esther's parents are ordinary people. She rose to fame after some of the videos she filmed in college got popular. That's how she signed on to Frost Entertainment.

"Her persona's rags-to-riches backstory is not too bad. It's obvious that Oliver bought it and is now making himself out to be the hero of her story," Natasha said with a laugh.

Savannah continued looking through the information collected by the private investigator. There were photos of Oliver walking down the red carpet with Esther, visiting her on set, and even records of him spending the night with her at hotels.

There was enough evidence to prove that Oliver had an affair while still married. Even though Savannah couldn't strip him of every penny, this still gave her a huge advantage when it came to splitting up their assets and properties during the divorce.

"Want to know something even funnier? Esther's father had spent some time in jail after he killed someone while drunk driving. He just got released recently. And, the person he killed was actually Oliver's father."

"What? Does Oliver know?" Savannah asked, her jaw dropping.

"I don't think he does. Otherwise, his father would come back from the dead and strangle such an ungrateful son to death," Natasha said with a delighted chuckle.

Just as she was done speaking, someone rang the doorbell to the apartment.

"Are you expecting guests?" Savannah asked.

"He's not my guest but your lawyer, Mr. Hanson Lawless," Natasha replied.

"Wait, what? Since when have you been so good with your networking that you'd managed to get Mr. Lawless as my lawyer?" Savannah asked, looking at Natasha in disbelief.

Hanson Lawless was Gibson Finance's legal advisor. He was very well-known in his profession and had never lost a case. His consultation fees started at four figures per minute.

"Excuse me, but I have no such power over the great Mr. Lawless. I'm just following Mr. Gibson's instructions," Natasha said, glancing at Savannah meaningfully.

The Lexingtons and the Gibsons were old friends, and Savannah grew up with their son, Maxwell Gibson. They could be considered childhood friends. Three years ago, Maxwell had strongly opposed Savannah's decision to go abroad with Molly.

He had asked her, "Savannah, are you trying to cause trouble for yourself?"

She'd then gotten into a huge quarrel with him before leaving on an unpleasant note. They never contacted each other for the three years she'd been away.

"Is he no longer mad at me?" Savannah asked, looking rather shocked. Her eyes were shaking.

"You should know that he can never truly get mad at you," Natasha said in resignation, patting Savannah's shoulder.

The door opened, and Hanson walked into the apartment. He was in his early 40s, and he wore an impeccably tailored suit with his suitcase in hand. His legal assistant was right behind him.

"Good day, Ms. Savannah Lexington. I'm Hanson Lawless, your divorce attorney. I'll be in charge of your case from today onward."

"Thank you," Savannah replied, shaking his hand politely. Then, she handed him the divorce agreement she'd gotten from Oliver.

Natasha came a little closer to read the agreement too. When she saw that Oliver only planned to give Savannah ten percent of Frost Entertainment's shares as alimony, she got so mad that she started laughing out loud.

"If you hadn't pumped in a ton of your money and connections into it, Frost Entertainment would have gone bankrupt a long time ago. How could Oliver be so shameless and give you only ten percent of the shares? Does he think you're a charity or something?"

Hanson went through the divorce agreement without saying anything. He had a sense of calmness to his voice as he said in a professional manner, "I've already asked my assistant to collect all evidence of Mr. Oliver Frost's affair and look into his assets and properties. Ms. Lexington, you can also let me know if you have any other requests."

"I played the marriage game and lost, so I'll admit defeat here," Savannah said. "However, I want to take back everything that once belonged to me."

"You didn't sign a prenuptial agreement with Mr. Frost before getting married, so it's going to be a little tricky. But rest assured that I will do everything in my power to protect your legal rights."

"Alright," Savannah said with a nod of her head. She looked rather tired. She hadn't signed a prenuptial agreement with Oliver before because she'd trusted him wholeheartedly. However, she'd only proven to herself again what a stupid decision it had been.

"Is there anything else I may help you with?" Hanson asked, looking at the time. It was obvious that his time was precious.

"I might need your help. Please come with me to the Frost residence. I want to take the house back."

Savannah took out the deed to the house and showed it to Hanson. Hanson looked at it and determined that it was legitimate. So, he followed Savannah to the Frost residence.

When they arrived, Esther happened to be there too. The whole family was happily having dinner together.

"Try this, Esther. Mom purposely got the chef to make it for you. It's a special type of chicken stew," Riley said, serving Esther a portion of the stew.

"Thank you, Molly," Esther said, taking a small bite.

"No need to thank me. We're all family here. You don't need to be so courteous with me," Molly answered with a kind smile.

"Esther, since you accepted Ollie's proposal, does that mean you're my sister-in-law now?" Riley asked, fluttering her eyelashes at Esther.

"Savannah is still your sister-in-law," Esther said deliberately, giving Oliver a pointed look.

"Savannah and I only registered our marriage. We never even shared the same room together," Oliver hurriedly said, taking Esther's hand in his. He wanted to show his loyalty to her. "Also, you're pregnant now, so you shouldn't overthink things. I only have my eyes on you."

"What do you mean Savannah's my sister-in-law? She's nothing but my mom's caretaker!" Riley added.

"She looked after Molly for three years. Even if you don't acknowledge it, it doesn't mean she didn't put her whole heart into it," Esther said in a casual tone despite the sarcasm in her voice.

"Savannah never worked for the past three years and relied on Ollie's pocket money for survival. And he still has to go and give her ten percent of the company's shares too! She's getting away with a bargain! We could have just hired a hundred household staff with all the money wasted on her!" Riley snapped.

Just as she was done speaking, she caught sight of Savannah walking in with another person.

Savannah hadn't even been gone for 24 hours, yet the mistress had already taken her place in the household. Now that she was back, the tension in the air grew thick as awkwardness descended on everyone.

"Oh, coming back so soon because you couldn't bear to be away? What a pity. There's no place for you in this house anymore," Riley said with a loud sneer.

"Sav, we've got a guest today. You came at a bad time," Molly said. "Can't you come back another time if you want to talk to Oliver?"

There they went again.

Savannah didn't want to waste any of her breath on them. She just turned and looked at Hanson.

Hanson took a step forward and showed them the house deed he was holding. "I am Ms. Savannah Lexington's attorney. This place, Jade Villa No. 8, is my client's private property. Kindly remove yourself from the premises immediately before I call the police.

"Oh, and I should inform you that trespassing on private property is a punishable crime. Once convicted, you will be subjected to not more than three years of imprisonment or criminal detention."

The Frosts couldn't deny that this villa was indeed registered under Savannah's name.

Oliver's face darkened.

Meanwhile, Molly just shook her head and sighed. "Sav, stop throwing temper tantrums like a child. We're all family here. We could all just sit down and have a proper discussion about things. Why must you bring along a lawyer instead?"
