I carefully applied a touch of makeup, painting my lips a bold shade of red to match the crimson spaghetti-strap dress that clung to my curves and stopped just above my knees.
I slipped on a pair of sleek black heels, wincing slightly as they pinched my toes. High heels weren’t my favorite, but Jaden loved them, so I was going to wear them for him. I gave myself one last look in the mirror, a small smile spreading across my face as I winked at my reflection.
"Tonight was going to be perfect." I thought with a smile.
My phone buzzed on the dresser, and I snatched it up, my heart skipping a beat when I saw Jaden’s name.
“i am bored and alone here. I really miss you, and I wish I could come and spend the vacation with you in London,” his text read.
A grin spread across my lips as I reread the message. Excitement bubbled in my chest, and I couldn’t help but laugh softly to myself. He thought I was in London for the summer. I had lied about my holiday plans, wanting this moment to be a complete surprise to him.
We had been dating for five months now—five months of late-night calls, stolen kisses between classes, and whispered promises about the future. He was the man I saw myself with forever, the one I imagined standing beside me at the altar someday.
But one thing was missing. Our first sex. It would happen tonight though.
I wasn’t nervous; it felt right. Jaden had proven himself over and over again—his patience, his kindness, the way he looked at me like I was his entire world. I’d never felt this safe, this certain with anyone else.
Grabbing my black handbag, I checked to make sure I had everything: my phone, credit card, and some cash even though I knew I won't need any money. He will sort it all.
I slipped the strap over my shoulder and hurried out the door, barely able to contain my excitement as I got out, locked the door and waved down a taxi.
I had asked the driver to make a quick stop at a flower shop, picking out a bouquet of fresh roses for Jaden. The scent of the beauty rose filled the car as I sat back,
An hour later, the taxi pulled up in front of his apartment. My pulse tensed as I paid the driver, clutching the bouquet tightly. His place looked the same as I remembered, but tonight, it felt different and I couldn't point out what exactly.
The light spilling from his bedroom window told me he was home, and my stomach fluttered with anticipation.
With a deep breath, I adjusted my dress, checked my makeup one last time in the reflection of the taxi window, and made my way to his door.
I could already picture it—Jaden's face lighting up with surprise and joy the moment he see me. He wouldn't be able to contain himself and would pull me into his arms, littering kiss me all over me as usual.
Tonight would be the best night of my life.
I clutched the bouquet of roses tightly to my chest, my heart pounding with excitement as I rushed toward the elevator.
Jaden came from a wealthy family. My parents weren’t poor, but compared to his lifestyle, we were worlds apart. Sometimes, I still couldn’t believe he had asked me out to be his girlfriend out of all the girls in school. It felt like a dream, one I never wanted to wake up from.
I reached his apartment and punched in the door code which I already knew off by heart, the familiar beep signaling the door unlocked.
Everywhere was silent at first, but as I stepped inside, faint laughter drifted down from upstairs—a woman’s laughter. My breath hitched, and for a split second, I stood frozen staring up and wondering if my ears were deceiving me.
He told me he was bored, alone at home and hoping I was here with him. So who has that female voice?
My legs felt heavy as I climbed the stairs, each step slow and careful.
"Maybe I misheard. Maybe it was just the TV." I tried to clear by doubt but just then, my gaze landed on a trail of clothes leading down the hallway—a blouse, a bra, panties... and Jaden’s shirt as if they had started off outside before entering his room.
"No... Jaden can't be cheating on me," I whispered to myself, my voice shaking. My chest ached, and my breath came in a rush as I drew closer to the door.
As I reached the bedroom door, I placed my trembling hand on the doorknob, unable to turn it. From inside, his voice rang out again, playful and full of desire.
“I really missed you... Aghh! Baby, you don’t know what I’d do to have you with me every second of my life.”
And then, I heard her ask.
"What about Diane?"
I froze. A sharp gasp escaped my lips as I recognized the female. That voice was that of selene my best friend. My closest since my second year in college.
I had also told her I was out of town just so she won't in anyway ruin this surprise visit I planned for my boyfriend since she has his contact. THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING.
Jaden's voice cut through my thoughts. “Don’t tell me you really think I love Diane. She’s not my type. Believe me, it was a dare. My friends bet I wouldn't be able to take her virginity, but she’s so stubborn about waiting until after college.” He scoffed in irritation.
Selene giggled. “It just felt so real. I was becoming so jealous.”
The sound of their kisses followed, making my stomach churn.
I couldn’t breathe as I felt like my entire world was crashing down around me. My knees wobbled, and the bouquet slipped from my hands, the roses hitting the floor softly. I wanted to run, but my feet wouldn't move.
I stood there, paralyzed and drowning in heartbreak, as their conversation continued without any of them aware I was listening to everything. They had no idea I was right outside the door
"So when are you breaking up with her? I'm tired of pretending," Selene murmured.
My hands covered my mouth, stifling a sob. This couldn’t be real. It had to be a nightmare.
“As soon as school starts. I can’t wait to dump her.” Jaden’s voice dripped with cruelty, and I felt the last shred of hope inside me shatter.
That was it.
Without thinking, I pushed the door open.
Their heads snapped toward me, eyes wide with shock. Jaden looked as if he’d seen a ghost, while Selene frantically pulled the duvet over herself, avoiding my gaze.
“What are you doing here?” Jaden asked, irritation lacing his voice.
“I thought you were away…” Selene stammered, her face flushed with shame.
“She lied.” Jaden rolled his eyes, running a hand through his hair.
I swallowed hard, my voice trembling. “Selene... why? I thought we were friends.”
Memories of our friendship flashed in my head and I wondered why she would do this to me. I could remember our late-night calls, how she encouraged me to trust Jaden, how she always said I was lucky to be his woman. And now, she was here, on his bed.
Selene tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear, her green eyes finally meeting mine with with I could only assume was guilt. “Diane... I’m sorry.”
I shook my head, tears spilling over. “For how long?” My voice cracked, and Jaden groaned in frustration.
“Enough with the drama,” he snapped, turning to Selene. “You have nothing to apologize for. I should have ended things with her sooner.”
My stomach twisted in disgust.
“I was planning to break up with you,” Jaden continued, his voice cold. “It’s not entirely my fault, Diane. You were so focused on your books, and you wouldn’t even let me touch you. How can you say you love me and not want to sleep with me?”
I stared at him in disbelief. He was blaming me?
My hands clenched into fists. “All you wanted was to win your stupid dare, Jaden. I heard everything.”
His eyes widened in shock, and I saw the flicker of guilt before it disappeared behind his usual arrogance.
“And you, Selene?” My voice was barely a whisper. “You knew… and you didn’t tell me?”
Selene fidgeted nervously. “Diane, it started on my birthday when he—”
“Shut up!” I snapped, my whole body shaking with rage.
I couldn't stay there another second. I turned and walked out, my vision blurred by tears. Behind me, I heard the door shut and lock, as if they couldn't wait for me to leave so they would continue.
Stumbling out of the building, I waved down a taxi with shaky hands and climbed inside.
“Where to?” The driver asked.
“To the nearest bar,” I muttered, wiping my tears away.
I have never been a fan of alcohol, nor had I gone to a club before but today I will ease my pain with all that. Also fuck virginity because I would have fun and give that up to any handsome man I get attracted to in there tonight. I don't care.
I walked into the club, the heavy bass thumping in my chest and I wiped my eyes with the crumpled napkin in my hand, cursing Jaden in my heart. He was the reason I was here. I hated everything about this place, the smell of alcohol hanging in the air. I never thought I would ever find myself seeking solace in a place like this but how else will I bear it?My parents were out of town and I had lost both my boyfriend and my so-called best friend in one night. While they would both be having the best night of their lives, I would be in here like the fool I was turned into.I should have listened to my parents, should have stayed away from Jaden. But no, I had fallen so hard. Too hard. And now, there was nothing I could do to change it. School would resume soon and I would surely be the punchline to their jokes. How didn't I notice he never loved me? I was blind to see he just wanted to take my virginity to win a fucking dare game.A fresh wave of sadness swept through me and tears blurred
Diane's POV.My nerves wreaked havoc inside me, and I could literally feel myself shaking as I made my way into the school. The cool breeze sent chills down my spine as my heart raced. It had been two weeks, and I could only pray Jaden had forgiven me. I really hoped he hadn't decided to make my life hell in school because of what happened that night in the bar, even though I knew he would never let it slide. His bloodshot eyes as he walked away that night after his threat made my stomach knot as I realized I was finally at his mercy. He would definitely come back for revenge and Leo won't be here to save me. Right here in this school, his father owned the biggest share. He would do whatever he liked and go scot-free, and teachers can't scold or punish him for fear of losing their job.I didn't just become his ex, but also his enemy, and now I have no idea what he had planned for me.The only option was to apologize again, even though I had done that numerous times through text, to whi
“Leo… is this really you?” I gasped as my eyes blinked and I fixed my gaze on him, wondering if I was having illusions. How possible could this be?I covered my mouth, my eyes getting wet in excitement as I took in his handsome appearance, waiting for him to look in my direction.“Was he here for me?” I asked myself, feeling the heat in my cheeks as I blushed. So I was wrong thinking he vanished after that night. He actually came back for me.My heart was racing, every hair on my skin rising as shudders ran through me. The joy of seeing him again was overwhelming, and those feelings I thought I had killed after that night we spent returned like a storm.Flashbacks of that amazing night with him filled my head, and I could see them clearly like it was happening in front of me again. His deep, soothing voice when he confessed to loving me made my face beam with a smile. My eyes wandered to other classmates, and I could see the females drooling in attraction. They were smiling sheepishly
Diane's POV I don’t know why it hurts so much. My legs were trembling, and I fought hard to hold my tears at bay, but they poured like twin streams as his words hit me like rocks in the chest. Even when he turned and saw me behind him, it didn’t change anything. I really meant nothing to him, just as he had told Jaden. He doesn't care a bit about me, and realizing it was so heartbreaking. I don’t know why I was thinking he came here for me. He doesn’t even know the school he was attending. “What are you doing here? Why are you coming to my office? because I can't remember asking to meet any of you!” He snapped with a deep frown. “I am sorry. We will be leaving.” Jaden smirked as he walked up to me. “Let us go, baby. You heard him clearly.” He said smugly and tried to grab my hand, but I yanked my hand off him. “Leave me alone, and don’t you ever call me baby. You fool!!” I bawled, the pain in my heart growing every second, mixed with anger as I felt crushed by the both of them
My eyes flew open as water was sprinkled on my face, jolting me back to consciousness. I have no idea how long I had passed out, but the moment I opened my eyes, I realized I was in a room I couldn't recognize. I could still hear the noise of students outside, which showed I was still in the school. As I shook my head and tried to wipe the water off my face, I realized my two hands couldn't move. It was tied behind me as I sat on the chair. Not even my legs were free. “Sorry, I had to tie you up, but it is the only way to make things go faster and easier.” The voice of Helen made me shiver. I quickly recalled what had happened earlier. She took me out of class to show me something she said was good news. Then I was attacked from behind. How did I end up here? So it was her plan to lure me out of the classroom. “Miss Helen, what is going on?” I demanded in shock and confusion, raising my head to look at her, so I would be sure she was really the one. She stood tall in front of m
Diane's POV I had struggled to tell my parents everything, but I just couldn't. As we ate breakfast together in the dining room this morning, I tried again, but I would look into their eyes and see it was all filled with delight and peace. I just couldn't say anything, not wanting to ruin it all.I listened to them talk about their gradual success in their political ambition; my heart felt like it was squeezed tight, and I fought my tears from falling, knowing soon enough it would all be destroyed by the same guy they had warned me to stay away from.It would really hit them like a bomb when Jaden leaked my nudes tape and I ended up bringing shame to my family name. It hurts more that I just lost on both sides because he has also used me to bring down Leo with that rape allegation. My heart was racing, and a bead of sweat formed on my forehead as I headed to the classroom. Every eye looking at me shook me with anxiety as I wondered if they had seen it all on the school web. Jaden
“Leo, were you among the robbers? You were the one who got rid of that video from Jaden?” I asked breathlessly as tears fell from my eyes.“I wish I could just hate you. I really don't know what is wrong with me.” He hissed and walked back to his chair and sat, crossing his legs on the table and looking up at me with a grim expression.“I am really sorry I did that video. He made me do it with the promise of not releasing those naked videos of mine. My parents are beginning their political careers, and our future relies on it. I was really scared. It will ruin them if…”“I believe you.” He breathed. “It sucks, but I fucking believe everything you say. Now clean those tears and leave.”"Thank you so much! We will see after school!" I squeaked before scurrying out, grinning from ear to ear.He just saved me again and now I don't think I can control it anymore. I am in love.Leo's POVA knock came on my door just immediately Diane left and as I got to the door, a young woman was standing
Diane's POVMy joy knew no bounds.I have no idea if he meant it, saying he had forgiven me because his eyes showed no emotions, but I just felt so excited. As I entered the class, I saw that my request to be placed in the front row had been accepted.Today just seemed to be much better than I thought. I avoided Jaden's glare as I made my way to my new seat in the left corner. I sighed in relief, taking out a novel to read.I hadn't read one full line before a teacher walked in. I could recognize her as our computer science teacher.“Did we have her now?” I asked myself as I tried checking the timetable, but she walked up to me with a smile.“Are you Diane?” She asked, and I nodded, smiling back.“Oh, I see. Follow me to my office; I have good news for you.” She displayed her white set of teeth, offering her hand to me.Wow.It felt so good. What other blessing does God have for me today?“Oh, I am really curious.” I beamed.“Yeah, I have to show you this.” She said, and we both walke
Just when I thought everything was well planned out, it came crashing and turning all sour. Someone was behind the shadows ruining my mission just so I wouldn’t gain my freedom. My chest rumbled, and rage boiled inside me like a raging fire. I could feel my whole body burning, veins red and sprouting as I clenched my teeth to control myself. The last time I felt this way was when my father was killed, and now it was back. That monster that turned me into a villain, killing every trace of empathy inside me.My eyes moved to the gate where Diane had rushed in, and I felt like a knife was stabbed to my chest. All I wanted was to keep it a secret and finish this mission; then we would live that life I dreamed of. But someone from my organization decided to destroy it all.“Just pray I don’t get you!” I bellowed, entering the car and zooming off to the location Sofia had sent to me.As I got close, I found out it was her house. She called me as soon as the gate was opened for me.“I am gla
“No, I don’t.” I snapped, “Tell me what is going on! What did she read in those files that made her say what she said? Apart from you being a mafia member, what else is the reason she has to put you in jail?! What are you not telling me?!”“Diane, the mistake we made is allowing those files to get to her hand. Now I have to find a way to get it without any negotiation because I don’t think she will offer any reasonable one.”“Why do you think so? She is our friend!” I retorted, but he let out an empty chuckle.“She is not our friend. Even if she is, now she has gone through that document, it is all over.”“What did she read in it?” I asked. “Tell me!”He paused, looking me in the eyes, filled with different emotions I couldn’t understand. He tried saying something but clamped his lips shut, shaking his head. “I can’t tell you.” He breathed, and just then his phone beeped. He checked and quickly distanced himself from me.Leo’s POVI really wonder where I went wrong in my plan. This wo
Diane's POV It was like cold water was splashed all over my body, my blood running cold as I stared at him hoping he would tell me it was a prank or some sort of funny joke just to tease me.But none of that happened. I watched him collapse on the chair there, his eyes shimmering with anxiety and the veins in his arms and neck sprouting harshly.I moved closer and picked up the bag, turning it upside down, allowing everything in it to pour out. Just a few of my books, the pistol, and the cellphone, but that document wasn’t there. I was sure it was there when I left for Sofia's place. Why did I not check before leaving?I slept off, and once I woke, I ran out without telling her just so I wouldn’t have to give her the explanation she demanded. My mind didn’t think of rechecking my bag. But why would she sneak into the room and take this?“Who took it?” Leo asked as those fiery eyes landed on me.“I really don’t know, but… I can only suspect Sofia.”“Were you sleeping? How did you allo
I entered a taxi and went back home.“Go to a forest and hide all you took from this house that could implicate me. For now, I am a suspect, and the cops can barge in anytime!” I typed and sent it to my men. They weren’t among those I suspect because none of them knows of the safe lock inside my office, so they aren’t the ones who gave this information to the cops. I took a quick bath and dressed up in casual wear, covering my face with a cap before heading out through the back door.I had a feeling someone was keeping an eye on me, so I had to sneak out secretly to avoid being followed since I was heading to Diane’s house. I don’t want any of this to be linked with her. She is just too innocent to be involved in this even though I had made her do a lot for me today. She hadn’t called me yet or sent any text. I don’t expect any because she would be really angry at me. That’s if it hadn’t turned to hatred because she must have seen what those files contained.I was just lucky she didn’
Imagine the world knowing about my relationship with my teacher, who turned out to be a mafia gang. I would be an accomplice to whatever evil he had committed.“I have to make a call to my father then.” She sighed, giving me a suspicious look. “But you have to tell me everything! No lies and secrets between us!”I nodded hard as I looked ahead, and they were almost done with the car in front of us.She made the call, her voice low as she discussed it with her father. My heart was racing, and I was panting, praying silently for God to save me the last time.“Lower your head and lie low. They must not see you…” She mouthed to me, and I did as she said immediately. It worked. I heard someone telling the cops to allow us to pass after the window was rolled down and they saw her. Whoever her father was, he must be a powerful man to make them give an exception to her.We drove out and kept a distance away before I poked out my head, exhaling heavily.“Thank you so much….” I sniffed, hugging
Diane's POV I couldn’t believe my eyes as I watched the cops put the handcuff around his wrist, confusion written all over his face, but he didn’t struggle or try to contest. My eyes wandered around, and I could see the bewildered look on everyone’s face as they stared at him, unsure if they could possibly believe he was a killer.Leo’s eyes fell on me at that moment, and I could see sadness and disbelief in there. It was as if someone betrayed and sold him out.My heart squeezed tight, and every part of me froze as I sniffed the tears that welled up in my eyes. It was like slow motion as Leo was taken away, disappearing from my eyes just after he had promised he wouldn't be caught. How did they trace it to him? Didn’t he assure me that all evidence was cleared? And also, he told me he didn’t kill Jaden’s father, so why are they accusing him of that too?He was poisoned. How could he possibly kill someone? But then I remembered Helen was dead too, so there was no one to confess to hi
“Sorry, I had to lie because someone might be listening to us, and you know how nosy they can be.”“Oh, maybe I should return to class and show him the question some other time since you both are busy together.” She grinned, but Diane shook her head.“No no no…. We aren’t doing anything just casual conversation. Let’s check the math problem together, and he can teach us both.”“No.” Sofia adamantly refused. “I feel you’re just trying to be nice. Enjoy your time with him. After all, I can ask him the question when he comes to teach us in the afternoon.”She waved with a wide smile, walking out hastily.I just stood there with my hands in my pockets. She gave me a wink before leaving, but I didn’t even act like I saw it. The only thing on my mind was how I would take her to my boss. She has no idea the pain and torture she was going to face later in life. She may be really falling for me, but soon she would realize how far she should have run away and left the country.“That girl is so
“You really love Leo and couldn’t bear betraying him. I will have to send you to hell so you wait for him. Don’t worry; in just less than an hour, he will be there with you…” Chan laughed evilly, and my body paralyzed with horror.I tried to talk. To beg for my life, but my lips could only move with no word coming out. The sound of the gun getting cocked made my throat hitch as my life flashed in front of me.“I won’t betray…you…Please don’t…”“That is a lie. And besides, you know a lot of my secrets. Keeping you is a risk!”That was the last thing I heard before a gunshot. But I wasn’t dead. I didn’t feel any bullet; instead, someone fell dead. Then the sound came again and again from an angle I couldn’t tell because I was struck with terror at these sounds. All I knew was that someone well trained had appeared from inside this house and killed these men. Jaden’s father was the last. He couldn’t even fire two shots before he was brought down. From a corner, a young woman I had never
“He won’t agree. I love him, but he doesn’t love me the same way.” I sighed, feeling the heaviness in my heart.“Then find a fucking way! He still wants you to be his girlfriend as a shield over his secret romance with Diane, so why not use a breakup to threaten him? Tell him to visit you or you will end it all!” He snapped at me, and I swallowed hard, pondering if I should do this. With Jaden’s father's tone, I could swear he would kill Leo if he got hold of him.“Leo didn’t kill your son. That is the last thing he can do. He may look cold and mean, but he isn’t so bad as to gun them down as you claimed. Even if he probably did, the evidence will show up soon. Why not allow the cops to…”“I just sent you your half payment for the job. When you’re done, you won’t only be paid the rest but also become the school proprietor. I know how much you wanted that position.” He said, and it was like he snapped my mouth shut as I couldn’t talk anymore and checked my phone.I screamed as I saw a
