“Sorry, I had to lie because someone might be listening to us, and you know how nosy they can be.”

“Oh, maybe I should return to class and show him the question some other time since you both are busy together.” She grinned, but Diane shook her head.

“No no no…. We aren’t doing anything just casual conversation. Let’s check the math problem together, and he can teach us both.”

“No.” Sofia adamantly refused. “I feel you’re just trying to be nice. Enjoy your time with him. After all, I can ask him the question when he comes to teach us in the afternoon.”

She waved with a wide smile, walking out hastily.

I just stood there with my hands in my pockets. She gave me a wink before leaving, but I didn’t even act like I saw it. The only thing on my mind was how I would take her to my boss. She has no idea the pain and torture she was going to face later in life.

She may be really falling for me, but soon she would realize how far she should have run away and left the country.

“That girl is so nice and humble for a girl who came from a wealthy family. I thought she would be pompous and arrogant.” Diane praised, shaking her head in admiration as she stared at the door she just walked away from.

“She learnt it from her father, I guess. He was a kind man.” I chuckled, seething inwardly.

“I should also be leaving before someone else enters here and raises eyebrows at us.” She giggled, and I kissed my lips.

She tried to leave, but I held her waist, not wanting to end the sweet feeling of her soft lips.

“I have to go, sir. The door is even open…” She whispered in between the kiss.

“Sometimes, I feel like everybody should go to hell. I want to kiss and claim you in front of them all. Nothing is more sweeter than your body on mine, and I feel angry each time I have to break off from you so people won’t see us.”

“Me too… but we can hold on till I graduate. Many things are at stake if we are caught.” Her face beamed up with a smile. “Unless you are ready to lose your job while I lose my certificate.”

“Does that matter? Maybe it does, but if one day I have to show my love to save you, I won’t hesitate. Tell all those guys in class to stay off you; it makes me jealous.” I whispered in her ear, biting her lobe gently and kissing down her neck while she inhaled sharply.

“Okay sir, I will shun them all. And you do the same. You are so handsome, and I feel like every woman is desiring you.” She pouted, blinking those pretty brown eyes.

I pecked her lips, then littered kisses all over her face. “With you in my head, I don’t see those ladies. It is only you that this heart reacts to, beating and pounding like a fool just because you are around me.”

“Stop making me blush so hard my cheeks will burn.” She covered her face, looking down.

“Open those eyes before I vanish.”

“What?” She quickly looked up at me with a long stare. “Don’t you dare!”

“I won’t. Don’t worry… Anyways, I have to tell you something. I don’t trust Sofia… She may not be bad, but she shouldn’t also know a lot. It is a risk. Be careful.” I said with a shrug, and she nodded.

“That’s fine. But she is my only friend in this school and…”

“I know, just be careful. Friends easily turn to enemies, and people change, just like Helen, who suddenly didn’t care and offered me to my enemy.” I breathed, and she sighed in sadness.

“That was so wicked of her. At least I am happy you aren’t the killer. I don’t want you killing people… Even though my hands are stained too.” She sniffed, tears forming in her eyes as she buried her face in my arms.

“He didn’t die when you shot, so I completed it. If there was anyone who had killed someone, it’s me. Okay? You are my innocent girl. My princess.” I said to her, and her face lit up.

“Really? He didn’t die?”

“No, he didn't.” I lied to make her feel better. She can’t burden herself with such a thing when I am here.

“So who was the person that saved you yesterday? I would like to meet him and thank him for…”

“He is a friend and is keeping a low profile so the cops won’t find him. You will know who later, but for now we should keep our mouths shut, okay?”

She nodded, her white, nice set of teeth gleaming as she let out a beautiful smile before scurrying out.

I sat back in the chair, and my phone made a beep of an incoming message.

I opened it, and it was from Zena.

“What the hell is this increased heart rate information I am receiving here!”

I frowned at the text, wondering what she meant till she sent another text.

“Don’t tell me I killed the wrong one. She is still alive!”

I hissed and dropped the phone, leaning back on the chair.

I knew it. She only killed Helen because she thought she was the one I was in love with.

Her call came in, and I didn’t pick up the first time but answered the second.

“Why the hell did you connect my device with yours! You are checking my heart rate now?” I seethed, and I could hear her deep grunt of frustration.

“Tell me it was something else that caused that spike! It is not a lady, right?”

“Why will you think such? I will meet a doctor for drugs to regulate it. Maybe the poison still has some effect.” I lied, and I could clearly hear her heavy sigh of relief.

“You’re right.” She muttered. “My bad. I am just too jealous."

“I am not your man. I hope you still have that at the back of your mind. Thanks again for yesterday, though.” I breathed and hung up the call.

Zena is just being a thorn in my flesh at this point, and I really have to do something about it.

Soon it was time for Diane’s class lecture. I hurried out of the office with so much joy in my heart.

Once again I was standing in front of the class with their attention fixed on me while I teach. I might not really be a professional teacher, but I had begun to like this job. Or maybe it was because of Diane's presence in the class.

But while in the middle of my lecture to them, four cops barged into the class, causing an uproar. They were all armed and had dogs too, as if there was a hardened criminal in the classroom.

“Mr. Leo, you are under arrest for the suspected murder of Mr. Chan, Jaden, Alan, and Miss Helen. You have every right to remain silent, as anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You will have the right to an attorney, or if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you."

I entered a taxi and went back home.“Go to a forest and hide all you took from this house that could implicate me. For now, I am a suspect, and the cops can barge in anytime!” I typed and sent it to my men. They weren’t among those I suspect because none of them knows of the safe lock inside my office, so they aren’t the ones who gave this information to the cops. I took a quick bath and dressed up in casual wear, covering my face with a cap before heading out through the back door.I had a feeling someone was keeping an eye on me, so I had to sneak out secretly to avoid being followed since I was heading to Diane’s house. I don’t want any of this to be linked with her. She is just too innocent to be involved in this even though I had made her do a lot for me today. She hadn’t called me yet or sent any text. I don’t expect any because she would be really angry at me. That’s if it hadn’t turned to hatred because she must have seen what those files contained.I was just lucky she didn’

I carefully applied a touch of makeup, painting my lips a bold shade of red to match the crimson spaghetti-strap dress that clung to my curves and stopped just above my knees. I slipped on a pair of sleek black heels, wincing slightly as they pinched my toes. High heels weren’t my favorite, but Jaden loved them, so I was going to wear them for him. I gave myself one last look in the mirror, a small smile spreading across my face as I winked at my reflection. "Tonight was going to be perfect." I thought with a smile. My phone buzzed on the dresser, and I snatched it up, my heart skipping a beat when I saw Jaden’s name. “i am bored and alone here. I really miss you, and I wish I could come and spend the vacation with you in London,” his text read. A grin spread across my lips as I reread the message. Excitement bubbled in my chest, and I couldn’t help but laugh softly to myself. He thought I was in London for the summer. I had lied about my holiday plans, wanting this moment to be

Don’t worry; in just less than an hour, he will be there with you…” Chan laughed evilly, and my body paralyzed with horror.I tried to talk. To beg for my life, but my lips could only move with no word coming out. The sound of the gun getting cocked made my throat hitch as my life flashed in front of me.“I won’t betray…you…Please don’t…”“That is a lie. And besides, you know a lot of my secrets. Keeping you is a risk!”That was the last thing I heard before a gunshot. But I wasn’t dead. I didn’t feel any bullet; instead, someone fell dead. Then the sound came again and again from an angle I couldn’t tell because I was struck with terror at these sounds. All I knew was that someone well trained had appeared from inside this house and killed these men. Jaden’s father was the last. He couldn’t even fire two shots before he was brought down. From a corner, a young woman I had never
