Aurora’s POV:

Klaus and I had just taken only a few steps away from Savannah’s corpse when we heard a loud explosion from a distance. I watched in shock as dust and smoke rose into the air, and immediately, the few soldiers with us ran in its direction. Klaus tried to run to check too but I quickly held his arm, halting his movement.

In a panic, I rushed out; “please, stop!”

“Stop? Why?” He questioned with his eyebrows shooting up.

I ducked my head as I struggled to get the words out of my mouth. Call me selfish but I was too scared to allow him to go and check what the noise was about because I was afraid of what might happen.

“Because your soldiers have it under control.”

“And I’ll be certain that it is under control when I get ther—”

“What if it is something bad?” I snapped, interrupting him. “What if something happens to you? I do not trust Emily and her craftiness.”

“Shh…” he whispered, placing a finger gently on my lips. “… calm down, baby. I understand your worries but then it’

Aurora’s POV:“Baby…?” I called softly as I stepped into Klaus’ room. Ever since the whole Josie/ Savannah incident, he has been acting differently… distant if you asked me.I was worried because I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what I may have done or said to him to warrant such a shift in character; or was it because of Savannah? When I stepped into his room, I didn’t meet anyone there and I was almost beginning to suspect that he’d gone out until I heard the unmistakable sound of water splashing against the bathroom tiles.“He’s having his bath,” I sighed, mumbling under my breath as I sat on his bed. I contemplated leaving to come back later but upon remembering how he’s been avoiding me ever since, I remained put. His room smelled of lavender and his fancy cologne. The smell was… welcoming, and thoughtlessly, I lay on his bed and closed my eyes, waiting.A few minutes later, he stepped out of the bathroom. He probably wasn’t expecting me to be here because as soon as he saw me, he ga

Aurora’s POV:I closed my eyes as a burst of flavor erupted in my mouth. Klaus’ mouth tasted of mint, coffee and something else that tastes like cinnamon. It was a combination of three things I loved a lot.His gentle hands caressed my back and neck while his tongue savored my mouth, exploring every crevice. But I was still mad. Deep down, I suspected that this was his way of shutting me up… a way to abruptly end our fight because he probably didn’t have it in him to continue to argue with me. The thought didn’t sit right with me, and almost immediately, I felt myself gradually growing angry. In anger, I tried to shove him off but he wouldn’t even bulge. I tried harder, frowning when he still didn’t move away from me.“Klaus, wait…” I gasped, “stop.”At the sound of my voice, he halted his movements. His left hand that had once been tangled in my hair froze while his deep dark eyes stared into mine as though suddenly, there was something extremely fascinating about it.“What is it?”

Aurora’s POV:I woke up to the sound of my babies crying and groaned as I begrudgingly got off the bed. The first thing I noticed when I got off was the fact that Klaus was nowhere to be found. His side of the bed was so clean and made, that one would even think he didn’t sleep here last night.Deciding to focus instead on my crying kids and not on Klaus’ whereabouts, I hopped off the bed and stumbled to their cot, frowning when I noticed that they’d both soiled their diapers, thus the reason for their incessant cries.“Argh!” I groaned again as I picked them up, one after the other, and began to clean them up. It took me a while but after I was done changing them into new diapers, I quickly fed them, placed them back into their respective cots, and sighed in relief.“Now, where is Klaus?” I pondered aloud as a sense of unease washed over me.It was unlike him to just up and leave without informing me. Even from how faint the traces of his perfume that still lingered in the room were,

Damon’s POV:“I want the girl… you want the throne. We both want almost the same thing,” Alpha Michael Flynn’s voice rang in my head as I stepped out of my sleek black car, ignoring the whispered greeting of my bodyguard as he held the door wide open for me to step through. He was right though, I wanted the throne… Klaus’ throne. I wanted to be the new King Superior, but what I didn’t understand was why he needed my help in getting the lady when he could easily find his way to her considering that they were once mates. Aurora, or whatever she was called. I needed to meet her, to see what was so special about her.I smacked my lips when I walked towards the large house, the mansion I’d always wanted to live in ever since I was a kid. Now, it belonged to Klaus but soon it would be mine. Just as I was about to step into the house, I halted in my tracks when I saw Klaus walking up to me with a serious expression on his face. He looked like he was living his nightmare, and that made me f

Damon’s POV:I adjusted my pants for the hundredth time in the past few minutes, smirking when I noticed that Aurora’s eyes followed my action. She let out a sharp gasp, one that sounded as though she was out of breath, and turned to look away with her face contorted into a frown.I paid no heed to the fact that she was probably irritated by me, instead, I turned to Klaus, whose anger was skyrocketing with each passing second, and gritted out through painful lips;“Back to what we were talking about…”Klaus frowned deeper, “Yes, about that. My response is no. I do not wish to work with you, especially under the absurd conditions you came up with.”“It’s not that deep…” I mused. “You’d still be on top, just beneath me.”As soon as the words escaped my lips, I heard a scoff leave someone’s mouth. I turned with a frown, thinking it was Klaus but when I realized that it was my beauty, the glowing belle who literally hid herself behind Klaus, I let out a breath.“Think about it, King Super

Aurora’s POV:“Babe, what was that?” I asked as soon as Klaus and I stepped into the house. I was sounding almost out of breath and I was sure to blame it on how uncomfortable the whole scenario with Damon had been earlier. It didn’t even help that Klaus’ face was chalky white and was stormy, somewhat giving me insight about how the sudden ‘meetup’ had been.He sighed; “nothing important.”Something about the way he sounded made me shiver but I wasn’t sure what it was. Wordlessly, I led him up the stairs, holding his hands as I led the way to my room. Klaus didn’t say a word as we went though, instead, he followed behind quietly, feeling almost like a brick wall behind me.We arrived at my room some minutes later, and after shutting the door behind us, I led him again to the bed, smiling when I noticed that the children were awake. They played with each other and had small fluffy dolls in their hands, one which I suspected was given to them by one of the maids who had come to clean u

Klaus’ POV: FLASHBACK: It was one of those nights when Father would come home late from ‘Pack meetings’. He’d been gone for so long, nearly a month, that Mother and I had gotten used to his absence… to the lack of yelling and his heavy footsteps all around the house. That night, Mother with her big and roundish-looking stomach, was busy preparing porridge while she danced and hummed to a song I sang for her. It was lovely… we were at peace. However, our safe space quickly came to an abrupt end when we heard the front door closing. Then followed by heavy footsteps, the one we both dreaded. “Hey,” She whispered to me. Her eyes which were once full of hope had now been replaced by something akin to fear. Something that made my skin crawl with abhorration. She pointed to the dining table. “Your father is here. Pretend to read, I’ll serve your dinner when I am done here.” I quickly nodded and I did as told. I hopped into the chair not so far from where she stood, cooking, and

Aurora’s POV:I sat there in shock, while my body shook as I took in the gory details of Klaus’ childhood. He was so far gone… obviously, because now, his eyes were pressed tightly shut and his voice trembled while he recalled that night. When he mentioned stabbing his already dead father more times in the back, I gasped, causing him to quickly peel his eyes open.“I am not a good man…” he mumbled softly. “…I’ve done bad things… a lot of them. One of the many reasons the council of elders loved me was because I murdered my father in cold blood. They say I am ruthless, and it’s because of that night.” He continued to say with tears in his eyes.I was speechless but most of all, I was worried about him. My heart ached, yearning to reach out to him and without hesitation, I crawled over to where he was sitting to glide my hands over his yummy-looking skin. As soon as my hands touched his skin, he jumped in fright and held my hands, but when he noticed that it was only me, he stopped and

Unknown POV: (3 years later) Klaus and Aurora sat by the veranda, looking out at the field while young children played around, young children about their children’s age. Aurora was happy and her heart felt full… but somehow, somewhere deep inside her heart, she felt uneasy. She didn’t know what was wrong but she did know that she was uncomfortable. Her eyes wandered to where her children sat and seeing how they were still so engrossed with their toys, she smiled. “Maybe, I’m just so paranoid.” She mused, causing Klaus to turn to her. He asked her what she had said and after telling him about her thoughts, he let out a breath and muttered; “it’s been several years now, love. We’re fine now. Everyone is happy now… stop overthinking these things. The children, the pack is safe.” “But the children are too strong.” Aurora cried, “…it would take just one glance at them for an outsider to know that they’re different. They don’t even act like their mates!” “And how do you expect

Aurora’s POV:The glasses clinked as Klaus and I made a toast and while everyone sipped from our glasses, we didn’t. We only took the first sip after the toast and then poured most of the remaining contents of our drinks on the paper in the bin. It was our Prenuptial agreement. The stupid arrangement that Klaus had come up with when we first met. A smile tugged at my lips as I remembered those times and in awe of how much we’ve grown since then, I leaned into him for a hug.“Thank you,” I whispered, kissing his chest, uncaring if my red lipstick would stain his crisp white shirt. He didn’t seem to bother too as he also leaned closer, placed a kiss on my forehead, and whispered;“No, thank you, my love.”I blushed. It was the fiercest blush I have had in a while and everyone who noticed this began to laugh excitedly. At this moment, I looked around us, at my parents who were cheering and clapping at Bella while she made funny faces at David and Davina, at Jasmine who had tears stream

Aurora’s POV:I watched in curiosity as the flames lit up the evening sky, causing tons of smoke to fill the atmosphere in an almost suffocating manner. There were agonized screams coming from everywhere, but it was one from agony not from pain. Agony because a source of their livelihood was burning down, agony because a lot of money was being burnt to a crisp. Nobody was in pain, no. Klaus and I made sure no one would get hurt. While everyone had a piece of cloth or paper covering the lower parts of their face to block their nostrils from the angry fumes, I didn’t. I took it all in, giggling and happy.Klaus was standing beside me and he seemed just as pleased as I was. The only difference was that he wasn’t showing his emotions on his face. Aurora’s POV:My breath hitched in my throat as I watched Damon saunter into the room, brandishing a large gun on his shoulders. I saw more than a few Elders shrink away in fear and I almost barked out a laugh from how stupid they appeared doing that. However, I was quickly snapped to the present when I felt something cold against my skin and I frowned when I saw that it was the gun and that Damon was pressing it against my head.“And what is happening here?” He asked no one in particular, but his gaze was planted firmly on Klaus’ face.Without thinking, I pushed the gun away and got up, standing between Klaus and Damon. “What are you doing here?” I asked him instead, evading his question.I saw Damon’s eyes widen but I wasn’t sure if it was because he noticed that I wasn’t scared of him even with a gun or because of something else entirely. Choosing that opportunity, I stepped closer to him until we were almost standing chest to chest and whispered;“Leave… nothing here is any of you

The chatter in the room died down as soon he stepped in with his mate stalking behind him. Normally, anyone who saw them would think she was hiding behind him but that was unlike the case here. She was protecting him. She was his aide, his bodyguard, and his Luna.People knew them. Word had gotten out. She was the last of her kind. The only white wolf left in their entire world and people feared her for that. The elders who once wanted Klaus out of the throne because he wasn’t ‘fit’ now thought otherwise. With a Luna like her, you would always be fit.“King Klaus!” An old man with a boisterous voice called out. His voice rang around the room and when Aurora turned to regard him, he shrunk into his chair.Aurora always wanted to be respected, not feared. These days after a lot of people came to know what she was, she noticed that many now feared her. Those who respected her before feared and respected her now, and those who never respected her only feared her now.Right now, ignoring t

Klaus’ POV: I watched her, my mate, with fascination as she wiped the sweat off her face with the back of her hand and stepped away from the now limp form of a beat-up Alpha; and I couldn’t help but feel more proud of her than I already was. I loved how she’d gotten every information she wanted out of Michael without laying a finger on him… but considering the amount of damage she’d done to him, I wasn’t sure I could still classify her methods of torture as not laying a finger on him. She smiled at me when she came up to me, a smile that was so bright no one could imagine what she had been doing for the past hour. She handed her phone to me and I smiled when I noticed that it was still recording, even until now. Quietly, I shut it off and pulled her into a hug. “Thank you…” I whispered but she shook her head immediately. “What—?” “No, thank you,” She whispered lovingly, “…for acknowledging that this is my fight and not trying to get into it. At first, I didn’t know what to

Aurora’s POV: I stood in a corner of the dark room with amusement gleaming in my eyes while Emily glared daggers at me. By the other end, just opposite Emily was Michael who was still fast asleep as a result of the effect of the drug I had knocked him out with. Klaus’ guards had chained him to the metal chair and left him to my mercy… or so I thought until I smelled him, Klaus. I didn’t even turn around to acknowledge him. I didn’t even flinch. “What’re you doing here?” I murmured under my breath, but loud enough that he could hear me. He threw a glance at me. There was a hint of mischief in his eyes when he simply said; “I am here to watch you work.” Deep down, even though I tried to believe him, I knew that he was lying. I could feel it deep inside our mate bond. My heart clenched in my chest when I realized that he was here because he didn’t trust me not to hurt them so much, or perhaps even kill them but I didn’t say a word as regards that. I simply blinked back the tears

Aurora’s POV:I stepped into the dimly lit restaurant with a sultry smile gracing my lips. Even before I stepped in, I already knew where Michael was seated so I immediately made my way to him, almost basking in delight when his eyes widened as soon as he took in my appearance.“Queen superior…” he let out almost breathlessly. His eyes settled just on my exposed cleavage for a few seconds before he begrudgingly pulled them to my face.“…I thought I was supposed to meet with King Klaus today.” He pointed out, eyeing me skeptically.I shrugged; “well, hello to you too, Michael. I am doing fine and you?!” I sassed, eliciting a breathy chuckle from him.“Oh, I’m so sorry, Aurora, I was so stunned by your beauty that I momentarily forgot my manners.” He quickly responded. If that was his silly excuse for flattery then he had a lot more to learn. Refusing to show how unimpressed I was by him, I smiled, briefly exposing my pearly whites. “You flatter me!”Resting against the table, I leaned

I smiled my toothy smile at him and turned to take a quick glance at my reflection in the mirror.“Thank you, love,” I murmured back.I was clad in a little red dress, and when I say little, I mean that it did little to cover my curves. It was a long dress alright but had a very high slit by the left side, one that almost reached my waist. The neckline was low and droopy, exposing more cleavage than I would have liked but that didn’t deter me. In fact, it made me feel like I could pull this off.My silver hair was in a tight ponytail but after noticing how serious it made me look, I released it, letting it drop and then I stepped away from the mirror.Klaus was already behind me when I spun away
