Chapter 19

“Leo, I am so sorry for being stupid and naive again.” I shook my head and hugged him while he stroked my hair. “I should trust you and be the last to see you as a bad person. You have been so good to me. I'm also very sorry about your parents and your past sufferings.

“It is fine…You are my little princess, and I should have told you this beforehand.” He replied. I broke the hug, and he pecked my lips.

“I want a kiss.” I poured, and he laughed and nodded. His hand grabbed my neck so sexily as he planted his sweet and soft lips into mine. His other hand around my waist to make sure I was pressing against his body.

He broke the kiss, and his gaze on me was enough to bring me down to my knees. How does he do it? He seemed to be more handsome and smoking hot every second, and I could swear at that moment that he was a drug I couldn't get enough of.

“When that girl gets enrolled, I will make her my friend, although I don't know if she will agree since she looks so rich.” I shrugged with a little giggle.

“She may want to be on her own. I heard she is an introvert and loves her own space. I just have to make sure she is safe when returning home, like a secret bodyguard; that's the least I can do.” 

“Are you guessing she will be attacked? Do you know of any enemy against her?” I asked curiously.

“Hmm, not really. But her father must have enemies. That is why she was flown to this country secretly, and no one knows her true identity. I am sure that's for her safety. I just have to make sure no one bullies her.” He said with a smile.

“Oh, you really have a good heart. She won't even realize she has a secret bodyguard protecting her.” I chuckled, tracing my finger on his chest as excitement filled my heart. Leo was that kind of man I prayed for.

“But I hope you know you are my priority. After you, then her, because you are who made me feel what I had never felt. What I thought was dead.” He said with a cheeky smirk, then kissed my forehead. My cheeks must be like tomatoes now as the blush hit hard. “Now dress up; let's go find something to eat, baby.”

Leo's POV

She slept really fast. Just a few minutes of cuddling and she dozed off.

I left the room to have some drinks. It felt so weird sleeping with a lady on my bed in my own house all through the night, and I didn’t even know how everything ended up like this.

I don’t even want to think of the fact that she was my student, and if anyone ever finds out about this, we are both in big trouble. The real problem was that I was falling in love when I shouldn’t.

It would have been better if she had come into my life after I finished this last mission and was free from the mafia world. Right now, her life is in danger without her knowing it.

I stood beside the bed, my arms folded over my chest as I gazed at her innocent face, those small pouty lips and pointed lips giving her a really pretty face.

Just a few hours ago, my identity would have been blown, and the only person I cherished would realize I was not who she thought I was.

I really don’t know what made her go to that drawer. It was my mistake leaving it open, and it was late before I returned from buying the cloth.

I saw the horror in her eyes when she looked at me. She won’t even let me touch her and was really scared I would hurt her.

I had to come up with that lie real quick, hoping it would save my pitiful ass because she really suspected me to be a killer.

Her instinct was right, though, and I was relieved she believed and trusted either. I don't know how long I would hide it, but for now, she really doesn't have to know because that would be the end of all this.

Maybe when I am done with the mission and out of the Mafia gang, then I will tell her the truth. It would be safer then.

Losing Diane was something I never imagined would hurt me so much until a few hours ago when she backed away from me, treating me like I was a stranger.

If she ever knew I lied, it would crush her, and every love she has for me would turn to pure disdain.

“Fuck!” I cursed as I made my way out, heading to the sitting room to have some shots of tequila.

Just as I sat to drink, my phone vibrated, and I glanced at the screen to see it was the boss.

“Hello.” My voice was low, and my eyes were fixed on the door of my room, hoping Diane wouldn't step out of there.

“Reliable information is reaching me now that the girl will get enrolled in three days!” He said in a cheerful tone, and a bright smile spread across my face as I closed my eyes and muttered a finally under my breath.

“It took her so long.” I exhaled in relief.

“You made it faster. You won’t believe it was the trending rumor of you dating Helen that convinced them. Like I guessed, they were investigating you and why you act differently.”

“Really?”

“Yes. Nothing fishy about your background, but her father was wondering why you haven’t dated anyone recently and was thinking you are on a mission. You know how insecure he is due to his pile of crimes.”

“Yeah… I am glad it all worked out.” I chuckled, taking a gulp of the wine.

“I hope there hasn't been any problem so far?” He asked.

“Nothing. If everything goes well, I will be returning in five days with the girl.” I replied, and my mind flashed to Diane making me heave and swallow hard.

“Perfect. And in five days, Zena will be done too. You both can…”

“There is no need for that.” I interrupted with a frown etched on my face.

“Do you hate her? She told me how you treated her when she visited, and I can’t really understand. I had been aware of everything she had done for you, and it is more than enough for you to give her a chance. She will be the perfect match for you.”

I was getting pissed already.

“I am not interested. I had always told her that.”

“So what exactly is your plan after you leave here? Do you ever plan on getting married? Who will you trust to keep your identity safe other than her? I don’t know if she told you, but this mission she went for is also her last.” He sighed, and my eyes widened.

“What??”

“Yes. She heard you are leaving and also decided to leave. I guess she has it all planned to spend the rest of her life with you.” He explained, and I let out a hollow chuckle as rage burned inside my chest.

“She must be crazy. Really crazy! I don’t love her! In fact, at this point, I hate her. She must be making a big foolery of herself if she thinks I will ever develop anything for her!” I scoffed as my heart pounded in anger. My fist clenched at the tumbler.

“I knew her before you, and I must tell you she doesn’t give up easily. Anyways, it’s you both issues to solve. Once the missions are done, the gang will cut ties with you both.” He hung up the call, and I felt like my heart would tear.

Just when I thought finishing this mission would make me stay away from her. Just when I thought I would never have to deal with her anymore after leaving the gang.

Why the fuck is she pestering my life?

I grunted, stomping the cup on the table as my eyes burned in anger. The only person in my mind was Diane! Zena is like a lioness, and she will go any length to get what she wants.

My phone rang at that moment, and I saw it was her calling.

“You bitch! What do you mean by leaving the gang with me?” I snarled, and she was quiet.

“If you think I will take you to whatever country I will be going to, then rethink because you are the last person I want around me!” I growled, wishing she were here so I could pounce on her.

“I also wanted to leave the gang, and it was a coincidence we were leaving at the same time. That appeared more like fate.” She said with a happy voice that only made me angrier.

What nonsense fate!

“Zena, you are going nuts! We can never work. Isn’t it obvious?”

She giggled. “Yes, we can. Because that lady you are in love with won’t be alive for too long…”

My heart stopped for a moment, and I forgot how to breathe. I stared at the door of my room where Diane was and could feel the fear building up inside me.

“What are you talking about?”

“Helen will be killed after your mission. You were told to build a fake relationship with her to make you look normal, and you end up falling for her. That’s shitty! I saw how you were all over her when you both were on a date! Yuck!”

“Zena, you can kill her; I don't care.” I snorted, and she gasped.

“Is that a way to convince me you aren’t in love?”

“I am not in love, and everything I do is just a mere act, so I will finish up this mission and leave.”

“With me, right?”

“Never!” I hissed and hung up the call.

A sigh of relief slipped my lips as I realized she didn't know about Diane yet.
