Just as expected, as soon as the school bell rang for break, Diane came to my office with Sofia.

“You know I warned no student to enter my office.” I breathed, letting out a smile.

“I know, sir, but I have to bring her here.” She grinned, glancing at Sofia, who was still feeling shy. “We just met today, and she accepted me to be her friend. She even chose to sit with me.”

“You both look like you’re really close. Is he your relative?” Sofia asked with a surprised look.

“No, we aren’t.” Diane chirped and leaned closer to her, whispering something into her ear that made her eyes widen in shock.

“Isn’t that wrong? It will…”

“She is lying! We are just like students and teachers, nothing much. She may just be my favorite because she is intelligent.” I cut in.

“She is our friend. I don’t think we should be hiding anything from her. You told me her father helped you, and now you will repay him by…”

“Diane!” I snapped

“Do you know my father? Did he help you?” Sofia questioned in curiosity.

“I don’t know your father directly. We haven’t met, but he helped me without knowing it was me. But that is a long story. I told Diane I will do my best to make sure you have no problem in this school as repayment for his favor." I explained with a smile.

Her eyes lit up in delight.

“Wow… I feel so happy to hear this. Even though my father sent secret guards to look after me. I think having a teacher look after me is far better. Especially someone like you.” She grinned.

“He is my boyfriend!” Diane eyed her playfully and walked over, wrapping her arms around my waist.

“I know… No need to explain. I won’t take him from you because I already have a fiancé.” She deadpanned.

“Really?” Diane chuckled. “Who is this lucky man that captured your heart? You are really a beautiful and rich girl, and any man that gets your heart must be a genius.”

I could notice her face get drawn, and those eyes that were sparkling seemed to have all lights in them die off.

“Sorry, I don’t want to talk about it.” She smiled softly. “I prefer keeping my relationship personal.”

“We too.” Diane laughed, glancing at me.

“Yes… it would be a big blow if anyone knows. But trust me, your secrets are safe with me.”

“I already trust you at first sight. Anyone that is friends with Diane is also a friend of mine. We will get to know each other more soon. I would like to be introduced to every one of the guards your father sent to protect you.” I spilled out, smirking inwardly.

Once she does this, I will take them all out so they won’t send any information to her father when I kidnap her.

“I don’t know them all. Only three that are like a personal guard. I just have to tell them you both are my friends so they won’t bother you. No need to meet them.” She said, but I shook my head.

“I am also protecting you, so I would like to meet them. Please…” She had a suspicious look before nodding.

Diane held her hand. “Trust me, Leo is the best human being you will ever meet. Trust him with everything because he is a very good man, I swear. He saved my life several times. If not for him, I would be raped and killed.”

Diane’s words were enough to clear whatever doubt she had as her eyes brightened and she nodded.

“Oh, okay…Because of you, I trust him. You know, my father really warned me to be very careful and take precautions. He said I should tell him everything about my life and everyone I talk to. He is always insecure, thinking someone is after my life. I trust you, Diane, but I can’t say the same about him.” She muttered, glancing at me.

“He is my boyfriend. I can swear with my life, he is a good person.”

I heard Diane say to her innocently, and it was like a piercing in my heart. She had believed every word from my mouth and trusted me to be a good man.

If only she knew I was that enemy Sofia's father was talking about.

Helen’s POV

My heart felt like it was being squeezed in a tight fist as I sat in my office breathing heavily and gnashing my teeth.

He deceived me!

I had been the fool all this while without realizing it. Ever since we went for date, it was like everything ended there.

All the conversations we had on the phone had been initiated by me, while he replied with a brief response and then claimed to be busy with something. I don’t even know where he stays, and anytime I talk about it, he will tell me later that the building was under construction.

I had swallowed it all, believing it was because I was his first love. Somehow, I made myself believe he was just learning how to love, but right now, it was becoming obvious that he doesn’t love me a bit.

A few minutes ago I went to his office to visit him, only to hear Diane's voice in there. Even the new girl Sofia was in.

I stayed at a corner, and Sofia soon left the office when the bell rang for break over, leaving only Diane. I came out of the corner I was hiding in and went closer to his door.

The sound of those kissing and smooching was all I could hear. The pain was beyond anything as I stomped out in shame and anger

Secretly, they had been together while I was made the fool. Who knows how many times they would have discussed me and laughed their asses off?

My mind flashed at what happened yesterday. Leo told me his mother was sick and he had to visit the hospital only to return this morning and won’t even spare me any time to talk about it.

This could only be for one reason. All he said yesterday was a lie. It was one of his little excuses to avoid me as usual.

“Fuck!” I growled, my jaw clenched as I fumed in hatred for no one else than Diane.

I was the stupidest one not to get rid of her. As long as she was alive, Leo wouldn't fall for me. How didn’t I know this? It was so sudden how Leo accepted me. How wasn’t it obvious he was just using that to keep me in the darkness?

“Diane, I will kill you!” I seethed, burying my face in my palm as I grunted in humiliation.

How did a common student turn me into this? Leo chose her over me, and I had been chasing the shadows. I will ruin her, I swear.

Yesterday Leo told me to lie to Diane that he went to meet Jaden’s father to ask for forgiveness. Was that a lie? The reaction of Diane wasn’t what I expected, and it was like she received a different message from what I delivered to her.

What I thought was a lie might be the truth, which is why Jaden’s father came here together.

“Wait!” I gasped as I remembered that Leo really mentioned he was with Jaden's father yesterday.

Shit!

I was lied to.

My phone buzzed at that moment and I checked to see it was a text message from Jaden’s father. My heart skipped a beat as I wondered what he wanted to tell me.

I opened the text and it was a number with a text to call him when I am alone. I dialed the number and his voice came in.

“Thanks for calling me.” I heard him say as I greeted.

“It is my pleasure sir. What can I help you with?” I muttered anxiously. Before now, he had never known I existed. He is a billionaire and I was a common teacher, so how did u suddenly become important that he was thanking me for calling him.

“This is my personal number. I need your help and will pay a huge sum of money for it.”

“Really?” My eyes lit up as I quickly headed to the door and locked it so no one would barge in.

“Yes. So I am sure you know my son, Jaden and Alan, right?” His voice was breaking this time and I could feel a lot of anguish in his tone mixed with burning rage.

“Yes sir, please tell me they have been found.” I breathed, and he groaned out.

“They killed them. They killed my son and threw him inside the river. His body has been recovered, and there were bullet holes in them!” He narrated, and my heart stopped in my chest. Fear engulfed me, and my palms became sweaty as they shivered.

“What!” I gasped, my eyes widened.

“You heard me right, and the most painful part is that I know who did this. Evidence or not, I know it is Leo, and that is why I called you. Helen, you must help me with this!” His voice was authoritative and stern.

“Leo??” My jaw dropped, and it was like my brain was short-circuiting.

“Yes! He may be acting like he knows nothing, but he did that because my son raped his girlfriend. That student named Diane! I know all this because I was the one who arranged it all!” He paused and took a deep breath. “Helen, I don’t know what you are to him but I am sure you can help me get hold of him!”

My heart was beating so fast now, and I could feel my whole body trembling as sweat covered my face.

His voice was deep and menacing, sounding like he would kill me if I didn't comply.

“What do you want me to do?” I asked with a quivering voice. “Please, I am scared. How could Leo kill Jaden? And Alan? How?”

“That doesn’t matter. What you should know is that he can kill anyone because of Diane. Yes, that’s how much he loved that girl even though he claimed to be dating you. Soon, I promise you, he will kill you too. Lure him into visiting you. We will ambush him in your house.”
