“Something like what? As long as you want me beside you, I will be there to help you.”

He let out a sweet smile and tucked my strayed hair behind my ear. He caressed my cheeks and kissed my forehead. “Good girl.”

I blushed, blinking shyly.

“Go to the bathroom and clean up. I will go out to get you a dress so you can change before I drive you back home.” He said, and I nodded. He kissed me on the lips again before I headed to the restroom.

If he wasn't my teacher, I would have slept here, but our relationship has to be a secret before it destroys his career and my family's name.

My life had never felt this good, and I wished he was not my teacher because being with him makes me feel like my entire life had fallen in place and nature had given me a second chance to experience love in a magical way after Jaden broke me.

Leo was the perfect man for me. An intelligent professor, masculine, hot, and handsome. Although he had mentioned his secret once, it doesn't seem to me like something I should be worried about.

As I entered the bathroom, I remembered I didn't take my panties, so I hurried back to pick them up. He had gone to get the dress, so there was no one in the room when I entered. I couldn't find the panties on the bed, so I began to search.

It wasn't under the bed. It wasn't in the cupboard of the wardrobes, so I decided to check the drawers under the mirror. The first one was locked, so I dragged out the second, and my eyes widened as I saw a gold pistol.

It was my first time ever seeing it so I was shocked. I meant to close it back but noticed a picture underneath. I curiously took it out and it was a picture of a young girl of my age but what scared me was a bullet hole in her head.

I turned the back of the picture and saw three handwritten words that left me gasping.

“Show up, already!”

Confusion and fear twisted inside me as I stared at the writing trying to figure out what it meant.

I turned and scrutinized the girl’s face in the picture, but she was someone I had never seen before. All I could decipher was that she looked so classy, and her dress reeked of high fashion and was really expensive, including the gold jewelry she wore.

The first thought that crept into my mind was the girl being Leo’s daughter, but he doesn’t look like he has a daughter of this age, and she can’t be living this luxurious life while he was just a teacher.

I couldn’t also understand why the gold gun was in this picture. And the handwriting at the back was obviously that of Leo. Why does he want her to show up?

He is clearly waiting for her, but for what reason? Why will he keep a gun close to such a photo?

“He wants to kill her?”

This creepy thought of him being an assassin snuck into my head, and I shuddered, putting back everything inside the drawer and closing it as I quickly backed away.

Beads of sweat formed on my forehead as my heart pounded hard and fast in my chest. I was breathing heavily, shaking my head, and trying to keep my composure.

I could remember he talked about risk aside from him being my teacher.

Was he insinuating….

No, it can’t be!

I covered my mouth, my eyes welling up with tears as I looked around the room, wondering how possible it could be that Leo was an evil man that kills people.

My mind flashed at that moment he almost killed Jaden and Alan. He beat them menacingly like he was trained for it, and they stood no chance at all. His eyes were fierce, and if I hadn’t intervened, he was definitely going to kill them like it was nothing…

My legs were trembling as I made my way back to the bathroom to bathe. I couldn’t hold back my tears as they burned down my cheeks, a wave of dread washing over me.

I really hoped I was just overthinking… I can’t imagine him being that kind of person. He is so caring, kind, and passionate. Although he doesn’t smile a lot. But being an assassin? No. Never!

Just as I was done bathing, stepping out with the towel around my breast region, I met him in the room. He was backing me and was locking the same drawer I saw that picture in.

“Hey…” he turned with a smile, dipping the key in his pocket as his eyes lit up with admiration.

“I got a few gowns and underwear. I am sure it's your perfect size because I have your figure in my head. I know what will perfectly fit you.” He said, opening the wardrobe and bringing out a wine-red gown that looked really expensive.

It was so beautiful and the kind I would only imagine I had, but all that doesn't matter anymore as I stared at his face, trying to figure out the possibility of him being a killer.

Although I love him with all my heart, I can't deny how secretive he had always been about himself. I barely know anything about his life, which I didn't care much about before, but now, I really want to know.

“What is with that face? Diane…what is wrong?” He asked, dropping the gown and closing the gap between us. He tried to hold my hand, but I moved away, shaking my head.

“Leo, what was it about the secret, fear, and pain you mentioned to me a while ago? Is there something I should know about who I am dealing with? What am I not being told about the man I am getting so close to and falling in love with?”

My question made him freeze; his eyes narrowed as he peered into my own eyes as if in search of an answer to his confusions.

“Is that why you won't change into the dress I got for you? I would tell you about all that, but it isn't so important to put you in fear. You look so disturbed and won't even let me touch you.” His voice sounded hoarse and tense.

“I will spend the night here. My parents aren't at home. They are busy with their political career and have been traveling so much lately. Will you permit me to…”

“Diane, is that what you are stuttering about? I am so excited to hear this. We will share this bed, and I can swear that it will be my best night in years…” He grinned, biting his lower lip.

“Aren't you worried I may find something in this room? Maybe when you are fast asleep… I love you, and I am scared something will take you away from me. Something beyond my power.”

He saw my eyes drift to the drawer behind him, and he let out a smile.

“Diane, you saw the gun and photo, right? Is that the reason for all this? What are you thinking?” He chuckled.

“There is a written word by you at the back. I can't understand it.” I swallowed, and he took my hand.

“Why do you overthink a lot?” He laughed and lightly knocked my forehead.

“That's the daughter of a man I owe my life to. He may not remember anymore, but he saved me. When I lost everything, he showed up and gave me a job. He gave me a reason to start a new life, and I was able to save up.” He paused and tucked my hair, caressing my cheek.

“The only way I could pay him back is to protect his daughter. I saw that photo with the bullet hole and was scared like you… If anyone does any favor to me, I do everything possible to pay back, and that's why I decided to teach in that school after finding out she will get enrolled soon. And guess what? God blessed me with you.”

I felt the butterflies in my stomach again, his sparkling eyes looking down at my face as he let out that dazzling smile.

“You have every right to suspect anything, and I will explain. My fear has only been losing you. My secret is what I feel for you. I am an orphan, and I lost my parents to a street gun fight. It is so painful I don't want to be talking about it. My past is my pain, which I want to erase from my head. I don't want to talk about them because it brings back terrible memories.” He breathed, and it was like my heart was clenched tight with guilt.

My eyes was wet as I watched him explain with a sad tone, holding my hands like it was the only thing that mattered.

How stupid was I to think he was an assassin? How did such sully thoughts creep into my head?

“Leo, I am so sorry for being stupid and naive again.” I shook my head and hugged him while he stroked my hair. “I should trust you and be the last to see you as a bad person. You have been so good to me. I'm also very sorry about your parents and your past sufferings.“It is fine…You are my little princess, and I should have told you this beforehand.” He replied. I broke the hug, and he pecked my lips.“I want a kiss.” I poured, and he laughed and nodded. His hand grabbed my neck so sexily as he planted his sweet and soft lips into mine. His other hand around my waist to make sure I was pressing against his body.He broke the kiss, and his gaze on me was enough to bring me down to my knees. How does he do it? He seemed to be more handsome and smoking hot every second, and I could swear at that moment that he was a drug I couldn't get enough of.“When that girl gets enrolled, I will make her my friend, although I don't know if she will agree since she looks so rich.” I shrugged with a

The only option was that he knew their plans ahead of time, which was almost impossible because Jaden and Alan hadn’t been in school since that day. Jaden’s father is also a very dangerous man who always gets away with a lot of evil. He is known to be one of the sponsors of a gang, and they run the street for him. That was why my parents had warned me to stay away from Jaden. The bell rang for break over, and I went back to class. As the time went by, terror pressed against my chest, my body trembling as the threat text echoed aloud in my head. What will Jaden do to me?Should I ignore it and go back home? What was the better option? Whatever was thought flew over my head, and when the bell finally rang for closure, my heart stopped in my chest, and I felt like the ground was closing up on me. It was time. I should be running to catch up with the next taxi, but my legs were pinned to the ground as I stared into the thin space. The vibration of my phone was what jerked me. I brought i

He missed by a close inch before Leo fired two shots into his skull, and he dropped dead instantly. Leo's eyes were dark, and his face was red like that of a devil as he turned to look at Jaden, who was now trembling on the floor.“He should shoot her, huh?” He let out a hollow chuckle, playing with the pistol in his hand.“Fuck you! Murderer!” Jaden snarled. “Kill me. Kill me!” “I will definitely do that this time. I warned you.” “I am sure she will not want to be with someone who is a killer. Or are you an assassin in disguise?" Jaden let out a sardonic laugh, and Leo turned to me. My heart clenched as I saw him look at me with pain in his eyes. “He really raped you.” He said as if trying to convince me that he should kill him. “See those bruises? He did all that to you, right?” I nodded, tears brimming my eyes and streaming down my cheek. He was focusing on me and had lost attention on Jaden for a split second, and that was the opportunity he was waiting for. So we don't have any secrets between us. We will see each other in school tomorrow, but for now I have to go and deal with some important issues.” Her eyes turned gloomy as she looked down to the ground.“Leo, I am scared. The night will be like a terror, and maybe I won't be able to sleep because I just killed someone. His face will haunt me.” She sniveled.“Then remind yourself h

Why are you being accused of knowing about the missing of both Jaden and Alan?” The proprietor asked as soon as Jaden's father left.“I don’t know. I am also very confused. Just as expected, as soon as the school bell rang for break, Diane came to my office with Sofia.“You know I warned no student to enter my office.” I breathed, letting out a smile.“I know, sir, but I have to bring her here.” She grinned, glancing at Sofia, who was still feeling shy. “We just met today, and she accepted me to be her friend. She even chose to sit with me.”“You both look like you’re really close. Is he your relative?” Sofia asked with a surprised look.“No, we aren’t.” Diane chirped and leaned closer to her, whispering something into her ear that made her eyes widen in shock.“Isn’t that wrong? All I wanted was to keep it a secret and finish this mission; then we would live that life I dreamed of. But someone from my organization decided to destroy it all.“Just pray I don’t get you!” I bellowed, entering the car and zooming off to the location Sofia had sent to me.As I got close, I found out it was her house. She called me as soon as the gate was opened for me.“I am gla

“No, I don’t.” I snapped, “Tell me what is going on! What did she read in those files that made her say what she said? Apart from you being a mafia member, what else is the reason she has to put you in jail?! What are you not telling me?!”“Diane, the mistake we made is allowing those files to get to her hand. Now I have to find a way to get it without any negotiation because I don’t think she will offer any reasonable one.”“Why do you think so? She is our friend!” I retorted, but he let out an empty chuckle.“She is not our friend. Even if she is, now she has gone through that document, it is all over.”“What did she read in it?” I asked. “Tell me!”He paused, looking me in the eyes, filled with different emotions I couldn’t understand. He tried saying something but clamped his lips shut, shaking his head. “I can’t tell you.” He breathed, and just then his phone beeped. He checked and quickly distanced himself from me.Leo’s POVI really wonder where I went wrong in my plan. I watched him collapse on the chair there, his eyes shimmering with anxiety and the veins in his arms and neck sprouting harshly.I moved closer and picked up the bag, turning it upside down, allowing everything in it to pour out. Just a few of my books, the pistol, and the cellphone, but that document wasn’t there. I was sure it was there when I left for Sofia's place. Why did I not check before leaving?I slept off, and once I woke, I ran out without telling her just so I wouldn’t have to give her the explanation she demanded. My mind didn’t think of rechecking my bag. For now, I am a suspect, and the cops can barge in anytime!” I typed and sent it to my men. They weren’t among those I suspect because none of them knows of the safe lock inside my office, so they aren’t the ones who gave this information to the cops. I took a quick bath and dressed up in casual wear, covering my face with a cap before heading out through the back door.I had a feeling someone was keeping an eye on me, so I had to sneak out secretly to avoid being followed since I was heading to Diane’s house. I don’t want any of this to be linked with her. She is just too innocent to be involved in this even though I had made her do a lot for me today. She hadn’t called me yet or sent any text. I don’t expect any because she would be really angry at me. That’s if it hadn’t turned to hatred because she must have seen what those files contained.I was just lucky she didn’

I would be an accomplice to whatever evil he had committed.“I have to make a call to my father then.” She sighed, giving me a suspicious look. “But you have to tell me everything! No lies and secrets between us!”I nodded hard as I looked ahead, and they were almost done with the car in front of us.She made the call, her voice low as she discussed it with her father. My heart was racing, and I was panting, praying silently for God to save me the last time.“Lower your head and lie low. They must not see you…” She mouthed to me, and I did as she said immediately. It worked. I heard someone telling the cops to allow us to pass after the window was rolled down and they saw her.
