I asked myself, but there was nothing that showed it was. My blood ran cold and my body froze in a spot. I couldn’t move, fighting back my tears as I tried to convince myself it wasn’t what I was thinking.

The video was done, and next was a voice recording, and I clearly heard Leo’s voice calling her into his office. 

My breath was fast as I listened to Leo confess to her. 

“I have been thinking. Maybe I have been fighting myself from accepting that I can’t resist you.”

He said this same thing to me that night we had sex. 

I listened as they began to have sex. It wasn’t a forced one because Leo was enjoying it too. 

After they were done, he told her they could be friends and know where it leads. He even apologized for how he had treated her. It hit me like a rock when he said she would be the first friend he has in the school.

Leo even told her he wants to experience the feeling of love with her after setting a dinner date.

My head was banging, and my hands shivered, tears rolling down my cheek. The heaviness in my heart was almost choking me as I wondered if Leo was just trying to use me and dump me just as he did that night.

I shook my head, trying to push away this thought as it was like a slash to my heart. I couldn’t imagine being betrayed by the only man I had given my heart.

“Hey, Diane, you are still here?” The voice of Leo came from behind, and my heart clenched tighter. 

“What is wrong?” He asked as he walked closer and tried holding my hand, but I backed away, looking up at him with sheer disappointment. As I stared at him, I could only imagine the entire scene of him picking Helen over me.

So he knew she hurt me. She threatened me, and because of her, I was almost raped, yet Leo started a relationship with her. They even have a dinner date planned.

“Hey Diane, tell me what the problem is. You can come to my office; let's talk…”

“What do we have to talk about? I don’t even know what you want from me, and I am blinded by my love for you.” Words were hard for me to speak, my lips shaking as I stared at him, blaming myself for ever meeting him in that club. 

Maybe if I had gone home and not to the club, all this wouldn't have happened.

“I am confused, Diane. We just shared one of our best moments, and now you are acting different.”

“You already had sex with her. You both even planned a dinner date. What else? You told her you want to experience real love with her… So why do you act like I was the one? What do you want from me? She sent me everything, so don’t try to deny!” My voice was breaking as hot tears streamed down my face.

“So she recorded all that…” He sighed, lowering his gaze to the floor.

“I was hoping you would deny it. I badly want it to be all fake, maybe AI, but it seems you really did it. So why did you tell me all that earlier? Mr. Leo, you have every right to be with anyone. After all, I am just your student and shouldn’t even be thinking of being something more than that..” I sniffed, swallowing the huge lump in my throat and drying the tears in my eyes.

I was the fool again.

“It isn’t what you think. Not even close to it a bit. If there was someone I hated the most, it’s Helen! I was forced to do all that..” He muttered under his breath, stepping closer to me, but I moved away. 

“No… you were the one that initiated the sex, the dinner, and even confessed her being irresistible! I promise never to disturb you ever again. Thank you for all your help.” I said with a sad smile and turned to leave but two steps away, he grabbed hold of my hand.

“Do you want to know the entire truth about my life? All my secrets, fear, and pain?” He exhaled heavily, those eyes glinting with anxiety.

“If you love me, you won’t keep any secrets from me. I barely know you!” 

“Diane, I am scared you will hate me when you find out...”

Diane's POV

“Find out about what? What secret, fear, and pain are you talking about?” I narrowed my eyes at him as he exhaled heavily and struggled with words. 

He shook his head and wandered his gaze around as if to be sure no one was seeing us.

“Diane, I am sorry, but I don’t think I should bother you with all that. I also can’t tell you the reason I am doing this with Helen because it is something you won’t want to know. But trust me, I am not in love with her.” He heaved and released his grip on my hand.

“So are you dating her or not? Who am I to you?” I asked with a lump formed in my throat. Seconds ago, I thought we were lovers who would go against all odds to be together. 

He was my teacher, but he made me believe it would work and he would risk anything to be with me, but now I can’t understand him. I wanted him to tell me all he did with Helen was a mistake that would never repeat. I won’t hesitate to forgive him, but he wasn’t denying anything. 

He doesn’t love her, yet he won’t let go, and he won’t explain to me at least a bit. 

It hurt so bad; I was feeling heaviness in my chest.

“Diane,” he called my name and was about to say something, but just then Helen showed up and I clearly saw his face brighten up as he drifted his eyes away from me to her. 

She ran up to him, and they both hugged in my presence. He pecked her cheek and kissed her like two lovers not minding I was there watching.

“What is this student doing here when the lesson is going on in class?!” She seethed and sneered as she peered at me. Seeing the tears in my eyes made her smirk.

“Diane, if you don’t go to your class now, I will report you to the school authority! When did this turn bad? I thought you were one of the serious students!” 

Helen’s voice made my heart burn, but Leo’s arms around her waist were like a lance in my stomach, hitching my breath. 

“She won’t stop lurking around my office even when I had warned them not to come near here! Let’s go inside!” Leo said to her, and they both made their way in. Before entering, Helen turned her face and winked at me with a mischievous smile.

Confusion and despair gripped me, all hope draining out of me as shivers ran down my spine. It just dawned on me that Leo might just not be the good guy I thought he was. 

First he had abandoned me that night, leaving cash like I was a slut, and if we hadn’t met again in this school, he wouldn't have cared about me.

How did I trust him this fast? I know absolutely nothing about him, not even his house or where he came from. He hadn’t told me anything about his family, if he had one. 

I walked back to class, drying my tears. Just as I sat down, the counselor walked in and beckoned me to follow her to her office.

“We need to talk! Teachers are complaining about your sudden change of behavior over your study…” she started. 

She tried everything possible to get me to speak, but I kept mute as my mind wandered. I could recall everything Leo had done for me, especially when he almost committed murder simply because I was almost raped. 

Back in his office, I could see pure passion and love in his eyes when he spoke to me. There was no doubt he was in love even when he was finding it hard to pour out his feelings. 

“Since you don’t want to say anything, I can’t help you. The school authority will inform your parents, so maybe they can get to know what is wrong…” The woman said, and I nodded and stood.

“Can I leave now?”

“Yes, but before that I need to tell you something. Although it is just a rumor, and I hope it isn’t true but mere speculation.” She arched her brows, standing up too.

“What is that?” 

“Some students are saying you have something with a teacher, but I believe it is not beyond educational purposes. I just want to remind you of the consequence of a teacher and student having any relationship. It is against the rule, and you will be expelled for that. You will hardly have any school enroll you.” She paused and studied my face.

“What teacher do they say I have something with?” 

“I don’t know yet. But please avoid any scandal. It is bad for your parents' careers. If possible, avoid staying in any secluded area with any male teacher.” 

“The rumor is all lies! Can I leave now?” I seethed, and she nodded. 

My phone beeped as soon as I got to the door, and it was a text from Leo. My heart leaped in excitement even before I could notice.

I opened the message, and it was an invitation for us to meet in his house. He literally wrote his address for me.
