Hector's pov

Hector went up to his room still in shock and disbelief as he was trying to understand what his eyes just saw.

“Why am I so bothered by this? But Hireath was accused of not being able to bear his children after five solid years of marriage but here she is married to another man with twin children just in the space of three years? This just doesn't sit right with me. Was she really guilty of taking the birth control herbs? If only there is a way for me to figure out the whole truth. Should I request an explanation from Hireath and damn the consequences?”

“What am I thinking? How would I dare to request an opportunity to speak with her. Why should I just suddenly interfere into her already perfect life like I wasn't the one who ruined it in the past? But I deserve the truth, don't I? Even if I just get to hear it once from her. But how do I go about it?”

Luna Emelda was already standing in the room staring at Hector, but he didn't even notice her presence as he was engulfed in deep thoughts.

“What seems to be the problem son? Is anything troubling you?”

“Mother, there's something I observed today and I know I have no right to derive any meaning from it but I just can't help it.”

“Go on, I'm all ears.” Luna Emelda proceeded to sit on the bed where Hector was.

“Mother, have you seen the little prince and princess ever since we got here?”

“You mean the king and queen's twin kids?”

“Yes mother, I just got to see them today for the very first time.”

“Well, I haven't seen them. I hear the queen is wary and overprotective of them. So what about them? Why are you suddenly bringing it up?”

“Mother, I saw them today and there's this– you know. There's this energy about them that had me thinking.”

“And what are you thinking about? Hope it's not what I –” Hector didn't let her complete her statement before he cut her off.

“Mother, I felt this bond. I felt like they were a part of me. That feeling was so strong that I couldn't hide it from the king. I'm sure he suspects me because he had the look of it on him as he watched me stare at them.”

“What do you think you are doing Hector? What are you trying to achieve from this? Let the sleeping dog lie? It's been years since you had Hireath banished and now you suddenly think that her kids might be from your loins? Do you care to think of how crazy you sound right now?”

“I don't care if I sound crazy. All I want is the true mother. A truth that will ease my mind and put my heart to rest. I deserve to know the truth regarding them and what happened with Hireath after we parted ways.”

“You didn't seem to care whether or not she was alive for three solid years and now all of a sudden you think she owes you the truth. Do you know how silly you sound right now? So what happens if the kids are yours or not? What can you do with the information? It's obvious you aren't healed and over her yet. Get a grip Hector.”

“Remember when you said it's okay to be a little shameless. I'll be so shameless even to the point that I have to thwart all my sense of pride just to know the truth. Mother, I've never felt this way in a long time. I can't seem to process my thoughts and–.”

Hector had a thought blocking experience right that moment.

Luna Emelda knew Hector was slowly losing his mind and she knows the gravity of what he's insinuating. She needs to do something about it, else Hector could go all wild if not tamed at the initial moment.

“Listen sweetheart, I know you are really going through a lot of stress, ranging from mental and emotional stress. But all I just want you to do is to focus on the most important issue that brought us here in the first place. Just give it time Hector, you'll get the truth but don't let getting the truth hinder the success of our quest for solution.”

“Hector, it won't do us any good, complicating our already messed up lives. That is why we should just lay low till we get what brought us here and leave as quietly as possible. The truth you seem will be our doom if care is not taken.”

“What do you mean mother?”

“Do I need to spell it out for you?”

“Mother I don't get you, please stop adding to my confusion.”

“What do you think will happen to us if the Lycan King and his pack ever find out we were part of Hireath's life? You were her husband, while I on the other hand was her mother in law. Do you think they'll clap their hands in applause knowing how badly we treated and banished her? If I'm to be honest son, let's just focus on getting them to help us and after that we vanish without leaving a trace.”

“You're right, mother. I really needed to hear this.Thank you for bringing me back to the realization of how badly things have turned out.”

“And it's on that note that I urge you to speed up things as quickly as you can. We've been away from our people for quite some time now.”

“Mother, please I need to help make a list of food supplies to be sent out. And you'll have to go with them to supervise everything pending when I return.”

Hector, Luna Emelda and Koslov spent time together making the list of the supplies. After long hours of cross checking, validating and careful examination the list was made and ready to be shown to the Lycan King the next day.
