Hector's pov

Hector sent for Luna Emelda. She came almost immediately when the call got to her by the guards.

“You sent for me, son.”

“Yes mother, I met Naradya yesterday and she let me in on a secret that can save the Halo clan from the recent catastrophes and restore us back to our former glory.”

Luna Emelda, very excited, let out a joyful ear-piercing scream.

“Yesss … I knew it, this can't be the end of the mighty Halo clan. There's got to be a solution somewhere and now it has been confirmed by the seer.”

“Mother, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. I still haven't told you what the solution Naradya talked about is.”

“Oh forgive my manners, I just couldn't contain the joy that sparked from within me. So tell me what the solution is. If there's anything I can do, I'm at your service my Lord.” Luna Emelda said as she bowed herself to the ground before Alpha Hector.

“Rise mother, Naradya told me that the Lycan pack will be celebrating their Luna queen's anniversary and on that day people from all over are welcomed with numerous gifts to be given to the Queen. And the queen grants any wish of anyone she chooses to.”

“I've heard tales of the Lycan pack but I never knew it's real.”

“Mother, I want you to accompany me to attend the ceremony of the Lycan pack queen's anniversary.”

“Of course, I would go with you, my son. Let's start making the necessary preparations. I'll be in charge of the gifts and every other thing we'll be needing to embark on the journey.”

“Thank you mother. I knew I could always count on you. We leave in three days.”

Luna Emelda bowed and left in excitement. Hector was thinking to himself, he's never felt this motivated in a long time.

“Is the Luna queen of the Lycan pack the beacon of hope the Halo clan has been in dire need of ?”

It's the third day and both Hector and Luna Emelda are all set to embark on their journey to the Lycan pack. They both dressed glamorously so that at a glance at them, one could see royalty written all over them.

They were accompanied by five guards and five maids who carried the gifts Luna Emelda had prepared for them to offer to the Luna queen of the Lycan pack.

Hector left the Halo clan in the care of the elders of their pack. The elders are the members of the packs and Naradya the seer accompanied them to the end of their border and Naradya the seer prayed and blessed them to go in peace and come back with the solution that will bring an end to the evil that has befallen them.

Hector, Luna Emelda and the servants that went with them traveled all through the day and when it was late, Luna Emelda asked that they camped that night and continue the tomorrow because they seemed exhausted and they would be able to get to their destination on time before the ceremony.

Hector was awakened by his wolf, Cobalt. Something was definitely wrong and that was what Cobalt is trying to figure out.The campfire they had set had gone out.

Hector called out to the guards but he got no response because they were fast asleep. Cobalt growled and this immediately got Luna Emelda, the guards and maids all rise to their feet.

Cobalt had sensed an impending danger but he just couldn't put his finger on it.

Hector asked the guards who were all in their wolves to go search the area. While Luna Emelda and the maids stayed behind him.

Some minutes later, a gunshots was heard and a wolves let out a loud howls.

Cobalt eyes widened as the danger he sensed had come to reality. Those were his guards crying in pain for help. Cobalt tried to trace where the cries were coming from.

But he suddenly he heard some sounds coming from the bushes behind them. Sounds like the leaves creaking and twig snapping, Cobalt was in his battle mood and ready to attack.

Just then gunshots were all over and tons of humans came out from the bush surrounding Hector, Luna Emelda and the maids.

“Rogues” Cobalt growled in anger.

Some of the them dragged the lifeless body of some of the guards they had shot dead.

“My Lord, we are outnumbered and they seem to be bandits and thieves,” the maidens cried.

“Stay behind me and follow my leader” Cobalt commanded.

Cobalt eyes were looking through the thieves, seeking the easiest target among them. He grabbed two hunters from his right side, tearing them apart, heads from the body. Blood gushed out.

Some of the bandits ran away in fear. They knew they had to do something to distract Hector so they aimed their gun at the maids and Luna emelda and shot at them.

The maids ensured Luna Emelda was safely hidden behind them.

Hector looked behind to where his mother and the maids were as he heard the gunshot.

“Nooo mother” he cried out and ran back to where they were. He got there and realized mother was not dead but got shot in her arm. Luna Emelda had passed out but the maids were all dead.

He carried her and started running. He knew if stayed back to fight, he'd be dead in a matter of minutes because he was no match for them, as they came fully prepared and in their numbers.

He ran into the forest, and they chased after him. It was as if they were after him particularly.

Cobalt let out loud howls as he ran. He was in deep pain and was getting exhausted as he's been running for hours and had got bruises all over him from when he was trying to avoid getting shot by the rogues.

“How come they are not getting tired and retreating?” Hector asked himself.

He got to a dead end and it was a cliff edge, Cobalt stopped. He looked behind him, the rogues were coming at him with full force as they've seen he had no where to go.

The only way out was to jump off the cliff, Hector resisted at first when Cobalt suggested it.

“Is this how I'll die in the quest for solution? What will become of Halo clan?”

All these questions kept popping into his head as he stood at edge of the cliff with no alternative way out.

But as the rogues drew closer he took a deep breath and jumped off.

“Jumping off the cliff is better than dying at the hands of these rogues.” tears dropped from his eyes.
