Hector is disoriented, disarrayed and doesn't know what to do or what to say. To his consternation he was stuck in between the lines. Should he put the whole blame on Hireath, his ex wife and Luna queen? Or should he say the truth and damn the consequences. Even if that means having everyone find out how badly he treated her and that may make them change their mind in helping them because they'll obviously see whatever calamity that befell them as the consequences for the wicked treatment of the previous queen.
He never imagined a day like this would come where he would be faced with a situation like this. But worse of it all is that the very queen they were asking about was right before his very eyes. What is he going to say? She now wields so much power and that alone can have his tongue off his lip if he says anything terrible about her. She can decide to tell the truth about what he and the entire Halo clan put her through and that will only put him and his clan into more danger. He was in a very compromising and confusing state. He looked at his mother beside him and she was also in the same boat as him. He opened his mouth to speak up but he just couldn't utter any word. He looked around him, everyone's eyes all fixated at him. Their ears were itching to hear all he had to say. He looked at Hireath who had a blazing gaze at him. He felt as though the ground should open and swallow him up right that instant. “Breath in Hector. You got this.” he whispered this to himself. After much thinking. Hector weighed the odds. Some parts of him wants to tell them everything, how he and the members of his pack wrongly accused his queen of using contraceptive herbs and how she was not only scorned but tortured, beaten almost to death and sent on exile but the other part of him still wondering how the same woman accused of such is now another man's wife and mother of his two kids. This made Hector consider the possibility of Hireath being guilty of whatever allegations laid against her in the past. That was when he decided to hold onto his grudge against her till the very end. “It's better she takes the fall this time as well. What should matter to me is not how bad of a person she sees me but how I can get the help I came here in search of. She now sees me as a monster, it's best I hold onto that reputation till the very end. If worse comes to worse, I'll find an opportunity to apologize to her in person if whatever I do now hurts her badly. I should worry about saving my clan first before saving my face before Hireath.” He concluded within himself. “Ehm– ehm” Hector cleared his throat as he continued his story. “My ex wife was someone I so much loved and cherished. She was adored not just by me but by the entire Halo clan. She was a virgin selected specially. But five years into our marriage, there was no sign of conception. That was when her secret was revealed and her true self shown to the world. All through our marriage she has been taking contraceptive herbs that prevented her from taking in and bearing forth children.” “Preposterous, absurd, unbelievable.” Such remarks were made from everyone listening to Hector as it was indeed a very shameful act and highly unacceptable from a queen. “She was severely punished according to laws and customs guiding the Halo clan. And it was since then things went sore with the Halo clan and we are yet to recover from it.” “No wonder the moon goddess was silent. Now I see reasons for her silence on this trivial issue.” The chief elder said. “Have you heard from the so-called queen after all these years?” the chief elder asked Hector . “No, I haven't heard from her. Neither have I crossed paths with that vile woman ever since that day she was banished from the Halo clan for good.” “Alpha Hector, I think what we should worry about is to find that woman. She should be brought back to make an atonement for all her atrocious acts that brought about the catastrophes the Halo clan are faced with.” A Gemma Lord threw in. “Oh yes, she should be brought to dance to the tune of the music she created. She can't cause this much havoc and then hides away in cowardice. She should be brought out to face the heat. Who knows, that may be the long awaited solution. A brazen woman, a shameless braggart, a woman unabashed by her abominable act must be brought to order.” Luna Emelda knew she had to say something as well to put a seal on Hector's side of the story. She was worried because the suggestion of bringing back Hector's ex Luna would n't just sit well with her. The woman in question is their wonderful queen staring at both her and Hector right in the eyes. She was now way superior to them. And just one word from her can change their fate. She tries to talk them out of it. “My son, myself and the entire of the Halo clan has suffered immensely from the vile acts of that woman. How much more do we have to suffer? We don't want to remain stuck in the past. Can we really not bring her into this? She's out of the picture, can't it just remain that way. Going back to bring her is like opening an already healed wound. Let us just hope on the moon goddess and wait for her to speak up” “We understand how you feel, but what if bringing her back from her hiding is the solution. Then let's not take chances. She caused this mess and it's best she clears it. Why then would the innocent suffer while the guilty roam free? You have nothing to worry about, we'll do anything in our power to find her. You have my word and my word is my honor.” the Gemma Lord who was already sorry for Hector, Luna Emelda and the Halo clan gave them his word. The mood at the throne room becomes really argumentative and defiant. There is uproar as there is lots of shouting and noise because everyone was angry and upset about the story Hector and his mother, Luna Emelda told them. There is a heated argument between those at the throne room. Majority were against the ex Luna queen and they blamed her for being the reason and cause of all the terrible happenings with the Halo clan while few were of the opinion that they hear her own side of the story before coming to a conclusion. “The Halo clan have suffered a whole lot already. How much more will they have to suffer and the originator of the whole problem is living free somewhere. It really is unfair and it's on that note that I suggest we set up a search party that will be on the lookout for her with immediate effect.” The Gemma Lord suggested.“How are we so sure, the Luna queen is only the reason for all these calamities. What if they're other reasons?”“What other reasons could there be
Hector roaming about the room completely tensed and anxious. Intrusive thoughts, ideas and images visited his mind uninvited. Hector completely stumped, paced around the room. “You just have to relax Hector. Just like the Lycan King rightly said, we just have to take our time.”“Mother how do you expect me to stay calm. You of all people should know that we're in the most critical and crucial moment ever and just one word from Hireath, everything we suffered getting to the point will all go to waste. Don't tell me to calm down when you know what is at stake.”“Hector I completely understand you because I have been with you from the very beginning.”“Mother, we are doomed. Everything we have fought so hard for is about crumbling down. Let's just leave immediately. As fast as we can before Hireath tells everyone the truth.”“No way Hector. We are not leaving just like that. Not now that we're so close to achieving and attaining success. We will see this till the very end.”“But mother,
Hiraeth’s pov“I swear on my life, Hector, I have no idea what she's talking about.” I screamed my pleas into the ears of my mate and husband. Alpha Hector. Praying and hoping that he'd listen to me. But they all fell on deaf ears. His eyes darkened and in an instant, I was sent flying across the room with just one push of his hand. Such was the magnitude of strength he had as an alpha of the Halo clan wolves, but I'd never thought a day would come where I would experience it first hand.“How could you, Hiraeth? How could you?!” he spat, his eyes blazing with fury.“For five years, five freaking years I tried all I could, praying and hoping for a miracle to happen, not knowing you on the other hand, was doing the exact opposite! Thwarting all my plans and prayers to the goddess!”Instantly, my knees sank to the floor in trepidation. Goddess, I'd never seen him this angry before and the thought of that scared me to my bones. I should care about the pain from the aftermath of my collis
“Your highness, I think we should start returning back to the castle. It's getting late and you know the mating ball is supposed to start once the clock strikes 12.” Said my beta, Koslov. “Supposedly.” I hummed as I walked past the entrance of the woods. Koslov was correct, it was indeed getting late. But I had no reason to leave until I'd caught something – a prey, something to get my mind off the pressing issue of finding a mate, scratch that – a Luna queen.“Supposedly?!” He shrieked. “Your highness, the mating ball is important. I don't want to assume you're beginning to have second thoughts about it again.”“Enough Koslov, you're beginning to sound like my mom.” I glared at him.He looked like he was about to say something, but then he simply shrugged. I heaved a tired sigh as I signaled to him to hold firmly the fire torch while I shifted into my lycan form. It was easier and more interesting to hunt my lycan wolf. The human form was limiting.“Be careful your highness!” Koslov
“Mummy, Mummy! Hariett's been selfish again!”I narrowed my eyes dramatically as the sound of my daughter's voice approached my chambers. And soon enough, there she was. Right in front of me, panting at the same time, frowning.“Mummy didn't you hear me?” She pouted. “Harriet's been stubborn again, he wanted to take dad's birthday present to me, from me!”I heaved a tired sigh, carrying her on my lap. “But you know he's your younger brother Harietta, you should be kind to him.” I cooed.“Kind?” Her frown returned. “Kind enough to let him have my birthday present when he has his mummy? Never!”A loud laugh nearly escaped me as her frown deepened and her hands flyed to her chest dramatically. But I knew better, for all I know Harriet could be lurking around. And no sooner did the thought reel in my head when the door creaked open and Harriet walked in, crying.Goddess. Not the tears again. That was Hariett's very own key to fine tuning my heart into doing his biddings. And sometimes it
Hector's life has been nothing short of misery ever since the very day Hiraeth was banished. As each passing day went by, the situation of things for him and his pack worsened. Hector's life became a shadow of itself as he was disappearing into the gloom. He resulted into drinking to stupor and clearly lost consciousness of who he really was as the leader of his pack. Woe to the Halo clan hence their Alpha has no understanding of who he truly is anymore. It seemed like they just kept fading away.Vera tries all she could to make Hector see her in a different light but Hector doesn't want to set his eyes on her. So she kept hovering around him, seeking the perfect time for her to strike.Vera seeks help from Luna Emelda as she was at the brink of giving up because for the past two years she's been trying all to no avail.Luna Emelda seemed to have endured enough. She kept mute all these while thinking Hector would wake up to the reality of his life and the condition of things with hi
Hector sent for Luna Emelda. She came almost immediately when the call got to her by the guards.“You sent for me, son.”“Yes mother, I met Naradya yesterday and she let me in on a secret that can save the Halo clan from the recent catastrophes and restore us back to our former glory.”Luna Emelda, very excited, let out a joyful ear-piercing scream.“Yesss … I knew it, this can't be the end of the mighty Halo clan. There's got to be a solution somewhere and now it has been confirmed by the seer.”“Mother, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. I still haven't told you what the solution Naradya talked about is.”“Oh forgive my manners, I just couldn't contain the joy that sparked from within me. So tell me what the solution is. If there's anything I can do, I'm at your service my Lord.” Luna Emelda said as she bowed herself to the ground before Alpha Hector.“Rise mother, Naradya told me that the Lycan pack will be celebrating their Luna queen's anniversary and on that day people f
Hector opened his eyes, looking around the unfamiliar environment around him. The morning sun rays shone on his face, almost blinding his eyes.Where on earth am I?”“Am I dead?” “Where am I?”He tried to get up but couldn't as his head ached so badly and he had sustained injuries all over, his clothes were completely torn. Making him look like a fugitive. He laid on the ground for some minutes, that's when the thought suddenly struck him.“What about my mother, Luna Emelda? Is she still alive? And if she is, where is she?”He combed the environment with his eyes looking out for Luna Emelda. Just as he was looking through the woods, Luna Emelda came out of the bushes with some leaves in her hands.Seeing Hector sitting up, she ran for joy and hugged him. “You're finally up son, I was scared you weren't going to regain consciousness so I went into the forest to get whatever kind of herbal leaf I can lay my hands on. How are you feeling son?”“Mother, I am fine.”There and then the
