It was the next day where Hector is to submit the list and also a meeting with the seer, Hireath the queen, elders and prominent members of the Lycan pack in search of a lasting solution for the Halo clan from the moon goddess
“Hope it wasn't much trouble drafting the list?” Malakai asked Hector. “It was a piece of cake thanks to the competent help we got from Koslov. It really made everything easy and stress free.” “Let me have the list, so I'll have it reviewed today and then we start picking out the supplies tomorrow. Hope that's a good idea?” “It is a great decision, Lycan King.” Hector said as he handed the list over to Malakai. “Greetings my great king.” the pack's seer said as she announced her presence. “Oh you're most welcome Layla. We are grateful for your esteemed presence to grace this meeting.” “Now that everyone is present. Let's get the meeting started.” The head elder stated. “Layla, we need to hear from the moon goddess regarding the catastrophic events with the Halo clan. They've traveled this far in a quest for a solution. That is why we want you to seek the face of the goddess and tell us what the problem is. Beginning from what the cause of the problem might be, to what we can do to put an abrupt end to the calamities. That is the reason we had this meeting adjourned.” Malakai explained further. Layla sat on the floor in the middle of the throne room, brought out her instruments for divination and started chanting some incantations. She did this for minutes non stop and stopped. She just went black out, extremely quiet while staring at the floor, like someone caught in a trance. The throne room was dead silent that even if a pin should fall to the floor, it would make a sound. The silence was taking longer and everyone began whispering to the other as they were all trying to fathom the reason for the lull. “Your highness, how much longer do we have to wait? It's obvious the seer is out of this realm.” The chief elder whispered to Malakai. “We are here to hear from the moon goddess and we'll sit here no matter how long it takes.” “Nobody moves, nobody leaves. Remain in whatever position you are in until the seer comes back from her trance with messages from the moon goddess. That is my royal order to everyone present here.” The wait continues, minutes turned to hours. Finally Layla, the seer was back. Everyone was relieved because her sudden transmission to the other realm had them all on the edge. “Oh great seer, we beseech you to tell us all that was revealed to you.” “My king, I'm afraid to tell you all that the moon goddess has refused to say anything regarding the Halo clan.” “Impossible.” Members of the elders committee shouted as silence from the moon goddess was the least thing anyone expected. This caused a stir among them. “Silence.” Malakai ordered. “Great seer, if the goddess has refused to say anything, then perhaps what could be the reason for her silence. Please tell us.” “My king, I think there's more to the story than we are being told. Silence from the moon goddess is a sign that there are some things that they haven't told us. I tried my best to persuade the great goddess to say something but she was determined to keep silent regarding this issue.” “What do you suggest we do now?” “I want them.” She pointed at Hector and Luna Emelda, his mother. “What about them?” Malakai asked. “I want them to tell us everything from the very beginning without mincing any words. Perhaps if they start off by coming out clean with the truth. Maybe then, the moon goddess might be persuaded to speak.” “Hmmm… if that's the case. Please Hector, now's not the time to try to cover up some dirts under the carpet. Please you have to tell us all there is to know if we are to render any form of help or assistance to you and your clan.” “It all started three years ago, after I got separated from my wife, my Luna.” “Oh yes, we heard the rumors of how the Luna queen of the Halo clan was sent away but we only thought they were just rumors. Now that you've mentioned it, please tell us what really happened between you and your ex wife. Because we also heard that you have a new Luna.” the chief elder spoke up. “Why do I have the feeling that everything started with the ex Luna queen? And maybe that is what the moon goddess wants us to figure out before she says anything.” one of the Gemma lord said. “You are right. I agree with you on that. She just might be the reason for all the calamities and evil happenings. Please go on, Alpha Hector.” Another elder said. Hireath infuriated by the sudden unexpected call down of the ex Luna queen of the Halo clan. Even though it was annoying, she still found it amusing regardless. She really wanted to see where they were all headed with this. Her eyes set on Hector, eagerly waiting to hear what Hector was going to say. Will he justify himself by putting the blame of all the misfortunes on her, turning his back on her just like he did three years ago. “Now let me see if he's still the same selfish and callous monster that turned his back on me when I needed him the most. Even if no one wanted to believe me, he of all people should have given me that benefit of doubt. He didn't trust me three years ago, now let's see if he's a different person that has learnt from the mistakes of his past. Or is he still that coward that hides behind lies and deceit? Is he still pusillanimous to stand up to the truth?”Hector is disoriented, disarrayed and doesn't know what to do or what to say. To his consternation he was stuck in between the lines. Should he put the whole blame on Hireath, his ex wife and Luna queen? Or should he say the truth and damn the consequences. Even if that means having everyone find out how badly he treated her and that may make them change their mind in helping them because they'll obviously see whatever calamity that befell them as the consequences for the wicked treatment of the previous queen. He never imagined a day like this would come where he would be faced with a situation like this. But worse of it all is that the very queen they were asking about was right before his very eyes. What is he going to say? She now wields so much power and that alone can have his tongue off his lip if he says anything terrible about her. She can decide to tell the truth about what he and the entire Halo clan put her through and that will only put him and his clan into more danger.
The mood at the throne room becomes really argumentative and defiant. There is uproar as there is lots of shouting and noise because everyone was angry and upset about the story Hector and his mother, Luna Emelda told them. There is a heated argument between those at the throne room. Majority were against the ex Luna queen and they blamed her for being the reason and cause of all the terrible happenings with the Halo clan while few were of the opinion that they hear her own side of the story before coming to a conclusion. “The Halo clan have suffered a whole lot already. How much more will they have to suffer and the originator of the whole problem is living free somewhere. It really is unfair and it's on that note that I suggest we set up a search party that will be on the lookout for her with immediate effect.” The Gemma Lord suggested.“How are we so sure, the Luna queen is only the reason for all these calamities. What if they're other reasons?”“What other reasons could there be
Hiraeth’s pov“I swear on my life, Hector, I have no idea what she's talking about.” I screamed my pleas into the ears of my mate and husband. Alpha Hector. Praying and hoping that he'd listen to me. But they all fell on deaf ears. His eyes darkened and in an instant, I was sent flying across the room with just one push of his hand. Such was the magnitude of strength he had as an alpha of the Halo clan wolves, but I'd never thought a day would come where I would experience it first hand.“How could you, Hiraeth? How could you?!” he spat, his eyes blazing with fury.“For five years, five freaking years I tried all I could, praying and hoping for a miracle to happen, not knowing you on the other hand, was doing the exact opposite! Thwarting all my plans and prayers to the goddess!”Instantly, my knees sank to the floor in trepidation. Goddess, I'd never seen him this angry before and the thought of that scared me to my bones. I should care about the pain from the aftermath of my collis
“Your highness, I think we should start returning back to the castle. It's getting late and you know the mating ball is supposed to start once the clock strikes 12.” Said my beta, Koslov. “Supposedly.” I hummed as I walked past the entrance of the woods. Koslov was correct, it was indeed getting late. But I had no reason to leave until I'd caught something – a prey, something to get my mind off the pressing issue of finding a mate, scratch that – a Luna queen.“Supposedly?!” He shrieked. “Your highness, the mating ball is important. I don't want to assume you're beginning to have second thoughts about it again.”“Enough Koslov, you're beginning to sound like my mom.” I glared at him.He looked like he was about to say something, but then he simply shrugged. I heaved a tired sigh as I signaled to him to hold firmly the fire torch while I shifted into my lycan form. It was easier and more interesting to hunt my lycan wolf. The human form was limiting.“Be careful your highness!” Koslov
“Mummy, Mummy! Hariett's been selfish again!”I narrowed my eyes dramatically as the sound of my daughter's voice approached my chambers. And soon enough, there she was. Right in front of me, panting at the same time, frowning.“Mummy didn't you hear me?” She pouted. “Harriet's been stubborn again, he wanted to take dad's birthday present to me, from me!”I heaved a tired sigh, carrying her on my lap. “But you know he's your younger brother Harietta, you should be kind to him.” I cooed.“Kind?” Her frown returned. “Kind enough to let him have my birthday present when he has his mummy? Never!”A loud laugh nearly escaped me as her frown deepened and her hands flyed to her chest dramatically. But I knew better, for all I know Harriet could be lurking around. And no sooner did the thought reel in my head when the door creaked open and Harriet walked in, crying.Goddess. Not the tears again. That was Hariett's very own key to fine tuning my heart into doing his biddings. And sometimes it
Hector's life has been nothing short of misery ever since the very day Hiraeth was banished. As each passing day went by, the situation of things for him and his pack worsened. Hector's life became a shadow of itself as he was disappearing into the gloom. He resulted into drinking to stupor and clearly lost consciousness of who he really was as the leader of his pack. Woe to the Halo clan hence their Alpha has no understanding of who he truly is anymore. It seemed like they just kept fading away.Vera tries all she could to make Hector see her in a different light but Hector doesn't want to set his eyes on her. So she kept hovering around him, seeking the perfect time for her to strike.Vera seeks help from Luna Emelda as she was at the brink of giving up because for the past two years she's been trying all to no avail.Luna Emelda seemed to have endured enough. She kept mute all these while thinking Hector would wake up to the reality of his life and the condition of things with hi
Hector sent for Luna Emelda. She came almost immediately when the call got to her by the guards.“You sent for me, son.”“Yes mother, I met Naradya yesterday and she let me in on a secret that can save the Halo clan from the recent catastrophes and restore us back to our former glory.”Luna Emelda, very excited, let out a joyful ear-piercing scream.“Yesss … I knew it, this can't be the end of the mighty Halo clan. There's got to be a solution somewhere and now it has been confirmed by the seer.”“Mother, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. I still haven't told you what the solution Naradya talked about is.”“Oh forgive my manners, I just couldn't contain the joy that sparked from within me. So tell me what the solution is. If there's anything I can do, I'm at your service my Lord.” Luna Emelda said as she bowed herself to the ground before Alpha Hector.“Rise mother, Naradya told me that the Lycan pack will be celebrating their Luna queen's anniversary and on that day people f
Hector opened his eyes, looking around the unfamiliar environment around him. The morning sun rays shone on his face, almost blinding his eyes.Where on earth am I?”“Am I dead?” “Where am I?”He tried to get up but couldn't as his head ached so badly and he had sustained injuries all over, his clothes were completely torn. Making him look like a fugitive. He laid on the ground for some minutes, that's when the thought suddenly struck him.“What about my mother, Luna Emelda? Is she still alive? And if she is, where is she?”He combed the environment with his eyes looking out for Luna Emelda. Just as he was looking through the woods, Luna Emelda came out of the bushes with some leaves in her hands.Seeing Hector sitting up, she ran for joy and hugged him. “You're finally up son, I was scared you weren't going to regain consciousness so I went into the forest to get whatever kind of herbal leaf I can lay my hands on. How are you feeling son?”“Mother, I am fine.”There and then the
