It was morning and Malakai was getting set for the meeting with Hector in regards to how they can help the Halo clan rise back to their feet and save them from further catastrophes and impending dooms.
Hireath was still asleep. The morning sun ray made its way to her face and shone so brightly as though she were a goddess. Malakai for a moment lost track of what he was doing as he stared lustfully at his beloved wife and queen while she laid peacefully like an angel on the bed. “How blessed I am. Waking up to this beautiful sight every morning. As each passing day goes by, I find myself falling more intoxicatingly in love with this beautiful soul.” Malakai used his hand to remove some parts of Hireath’s hair that covered her face and kissed her on her forehead. Malakai stared at Hireath face more directly for a longer period of time. Hireath opened her eyes slowly as she caught Malakai completely lost in his loving gaze at her. From gazing into her eyes to a flashing big smile. One could say Malakai has been bewitched. He was just helplessly in love, his body felt at ease, he felt free to be his true self as their connection was just natural. “What's with the charming look,my love?” “I just couldn't resist being smitten by your striking beauty.” “You're already dressed. What's the occasion?” Hireath asked surprised to see Malakai all dressed up. “The meeting that was rescheduled for this morning, my lady.” “And you couldn't even wake me up to get ready alongside you.” “I just didn't want to disturb you from your beauty sleep. I could watch you sleep for hours non stop. To show you how satisfying it was to behold your radiating beauty this blissful morning.” “Go away with your flattery this morning. Give me some minutes and I'll be all set to leave with you.” “Take all the time in the world. I'll be right here waiting for you like your knight in shining armor.” Malakai waited some minutes for Hireath. She came out gorgeously dressed and they both headed for the throne room where the elders, Hector and his mother were waiting. “Here comes the king and queen.” The guard at the door announced their presence. Everyone at the throne room rose to their feets and bowed in obeisance to the king and the queen as they sat on their respective thrones. “Please be seated.” Malakai ordered. “This meeting has been long due and has been postponed for some days now due to the disruption of the first. I hope we get to discuss productively on the way forward to helping out fellow wolves in need of help. Anyone with good suggestions is free to speak up. Let the meeting commence.” The chief elder got up, cleared his throat and spoke. “My king , you've said well but I think we need to hear from the horse's mouth. He needs to tell us how bad the condition with his clan is so we can know what to do. I hope I've spoken well?” The other elders nodded and agreed in unison with the chief elder. So Hector stood up and walked to the center of the throne room to explain vehemently the catastrophic events that befell the Halo clan. “Well, my clan has been doomed with several evil and calamities that cannot be explained. Things like death among members of the pack, famine and starvation, drought , strange sickness that has no cure and many other unfortunate happenings.” “I've tried all I could. The seer of my pack has carried out so many sacrifices pleading with the moon goddess to come to our rescue. But all our efforts have proved to be abortive. We were on the verge of giving up completely, waiting with all readiness for the worst that could happen even if that meant the Halo clan going extinct completely. We were that miserable, hopeless and helpless before we heard of the Lycan pack and in our desperateness we risked all that we had to come this far seeking help.” Hireath was so sad and broken when she heard everything Hector said. She could see how much they suffered by the look of hopelessness on Hector. She thought she didn't care nor will be moved no matter how pathetic the story was. But here she is struggling so hard against all odds to fight back the army of tears that were fighting their way out. Hireath thought back to the good old days with Hector and the Halo clan. It really broke her heart to hear such evil that came upon them. Even though they hurt her and treated her badly. She didn't wish they endured such hardship. “Please my clan will be completely destroyed if nothing is done to save our already messed up situation.” Hector continued. “I'm beckoning to everyone present here. Please the Lycan pack is the last ray of hope left for the Halo clan. If no help or solution comes out from here. Then it is really the end for me and the Halo clan.” At this point, Hector went on his knees in the middle of the throne room. His mother went out to kneel beside him as she couldn't help but break down in tears to show the extreme state of desperation and vulnerability. The throne room was completely quiet for some minutes as everyone was in total shock and couldn't find any word to utter. Malakai broke the silence. “ Now we've heard from the horse's mouth and we can now understand how dire and important our role to help them is. So what do we do from here? How do we take up the case from here now? I need answers from my elders. That is why I asked for everyone to be in attendance.” The Elders , the Lords, the Beta and Gemma, all in their different ranks, gathered themselves together and had separate meetings with each other in a few minutes. After some minutes of dialogues from them. The chief elder got up to speak. “My Lord , this is a very crucial matter that needs enough consideration. I'd suggest we first and foremost send enough foodstuffs to the Halo clan while Hector and his mother still remain with us. Until we arrive at a permanent solution to put an end to the catastrophic events.” Another member of the Gemma spoke up in support of the chief elder’s suggestion. “Your highness, I concur with the chief elder. While we're still deciding on a more permanent solution, it is important that good food and health care facilities be sent out to them. We can have our armies start sending out the supplies to them. We also take physicians and health care specialists to them , so those sick can be well treated and recover. Then we reschedule another meeting, we can invite our seer to also seek counseling and guidance from the moon goddess.” “You have all spoken well. I must commend you all. Let's proceed immediately as you have all said. The head of the Gemma should mobilize our armies that will be sending out the food supplies as soon as possible. Let's also choose competent health care facilities that will also accompany our armies to the Halo clan.” Malakai said. “I'll send for our pack’s seer. So we can set a date to meet and hear from the moon goddess. I'll send for you all immediately a date with the seer has been set. You may all leave now.” Malakai said as he adjourned the meeting. Everyone took their leave. Malakai called out to Hector and asked that he wait behind after everyone had left.“It must have been so tough for you. I really don't know how to express how I feel right now. My words fail me. But in my honor as the Lycan King , I'll see to it that the Halo clan is well taken care of.”“We're indebted to the Lycan pack.” “I want you to assist in supervising the supplies that will be sent out. I want everything organized, mobilized and sent out with immediate effect. I see no reason for any delay. Put your mind at rest Hector. The Halo clan are in safe hands now.”“You indeed are a great king. May the moon goddess repay you and your pack for your kind gesture.”“Don't mention. I think you need to discuss this with your mother. Someone has to accompany the troop that will be sent out in a few days time. And she's in the best position to go with them, while you stay here as we proceed in our search for a solution. What do you think about it?”“It's a nice suggestion, Lycan King. I'll discuss it with her immediately when I go back to the guest chamber. Though I'd lov
Hector went up to his room still in shock and disbelief as he was trying to understand what his eyes just saw. “Why am I so bothered by this? But Hireath was accused of not being able to bear his children after five solid years of marriage but here she is married to another man with twin children just in the space of three years? This just doesn't sit right with me. Was she really guilty of taking the birth control herbs? If only there is a way for me to figure out the whole truth. Should I request an explanation from Hireath and damn the consequences?”“What am I thinking? How would I dare to request an opportunity to speak with her. Why should I just suddenly interfere into her already perfect life like I wasn't the one who ruined it in the past? But I deserve the truth, don't I? Even if I just get to hear it once from her. But how do I go about it?”Luna Emelda was already standing in the room staring at Hector, but he didn't even notice her presence as he was engulfed in deep tho
It was the next day where Hector is to submit the list and also a meeting with the seer, Hireath the queen, elders and prominent members of the Lycan pack in search of a lasting solution for the Halo clan from the moon goddess “Hope it wasn't much trouble drafting the list?” Malakai asked Hector.“It was a piece of cake thanks to the competent help we got from Koslov. It really made everything easy and stress free.”“Let me have the list, so I'll have it reviewed today and then we start picking out the supplies tomorrow. Hope that's a good idea?”“It is a great decision, Lycan King.” Hector said as he handed the list over to Malakai.“Greetings my great king.” the pack's seer said as she announced her presence.“Oh you're most welcome Layla. We are grateful for your esteemed presence to grace this meeting.”“Now that everyone is present. Let's get the meeting started.” The head elder stated.“Layla, we need to hear from the moon goddess regarding the catastrophic events with the Halo
Hector is disoriented, disarrayed and doesn't know what to do or what to say. To his consternation he was stuck in between the lines. Should he put the whole blame on Hireath, his ex wife and Luna queen? Or should he say the truth and damn the consequences. Even if that means having everyone find out how badly he treated her and that may make them change their mind in helping them because they'll obviously see whatever calamity that befell them as the consequences for the wicked treatment of the previous queen. He never imagined a day like this would come where he would be faced with a situation like this. But worse of it all is that the very queen they were asking about was right before his very eyes. What is he going to say? She now wields so much power and that alone can have his tongue off his lip if he says anything terrible about her. She can decide to tell the truth about what he and the entire Halo clan put her through and that will only put him and his clan into more danger.
The mood at the throne room becomes really argumentative and defiant. There is uproar as there is lots of shouting and noise because everyone was angry and upset about the story Hector and his mother, Luna Emelda told them. There is a heated argument between those at the throne room. Majority were against the ex Luna queen and they blamed her for being the reason and cause of all the terrible happenings with the Halo clan while few were of the opinion that they hear her own side of the story before coming to a conclusion. “The Halo clan have suffered a whole lot already. How much more will they have to suffer and the originator of the whole problem is living free somewhere. It really is unfair and it's on that note that I suggest we set up a search party that will be on the lookout for her with immediate effect.” The Gemma Lord suggested.“How are we so sure, the Luna queen is only the reason for all these calamities. What if they're other reasons?”“What other reasons could there be
Hiraeth’s pov“I swear on my life, Hector, I have no idea what she's talking about.” I screamed my pleas into the ears of my mate and husband. Alpha Hector. Praying and hoping that he'd listen to me. But they all fell on deaf ears. His eyes darkened and in an instant, I was sent flying across the room with just one push of his hand. Such was the magnitude of strength he had as an alpha of the Halo clan wolves, but I'd never thought a day would come where I would experience it first hand.“How could you, Hiraeth? How could you?!” he spat, his eyes blazing with fury.“For five years, five freaking years I tried all I could, praying and hoping for a miracle to happen, not knowing you on the other hand, was doing the exact opposite! Thwarting all my plans and prayers to the goddess!”Instantly, my knees sank to the floor in trepidation. Goddess, I'd never seen him this angry before and the thought of that scared me to my bones. I should care about the pain from the aftermath of my collis
“Your highness, I think we should start returning back to the castle. It's getting late and you know the mating ball is supposed to start once the clock strikes 12.” Said my beta, Koslov. “Supposedly.” I hummed as I walked past the entrance of the woods. Koslov was correct, it was indeed getting late. But I had no reason to leave until I'd caught something – a prey, something to get my mind off the pressing issue of finding a mate, scratch that – a Luna queen.“Supposedly?!” He shrieked. “Your highness, the mating ball is important. I don't want to assume you're beginning to have second thoughts about it again.”“Enough Koslov, you're beginning to sound like my mom.” I glared at him.He looked like he was about to say something, but then he simply shrugged. I heaved a tired sigh as I signaled to him to hold firmly the fire torch while I shifted into my lycan form. It was easier and more interesting to hunt my lycan wolf. The human form was limiting.“Be careful your highness!” Koslov
“Mummy, Mummy! Hariett's been selfish again!”I narrowed my eyes dramatically as the sound of my daughter's voice approached my chambers. And soon enough, there she was. Right in front of me, panting at the same time, frowning.“Mummy didn't you hear me?” She pouted. “Harriet's been stubborn again, he wanted to take dad's birthday present to me, from me!”I heaved a tired sigh, carrying her on my lap. “But you know he's your younger brother Harietta, you should be kind to him.” I cooed.“Kind?” Her frown returned. “Kind enough to let him have my birthday present when he has his mummy? Never!”A loud laugh nearly escaped me as her frown deepened and her hands flyed to her chest dramatically. But I knew better, for all I know Harriet could be lurking around. And no sooner did the thought reel in my head when the door creaked open and Harriet walked in, crying.Goddess. Not the tears again. That was Hariett's very own key to fine tuning my heart into doing his biddings. And sometimes it
