It was very early in the morning and Malakai was unusually up and sent for Hector. He wanted them to walk together and converse a little more.
Malakai wanted both of them to spend some quality time away from everyone else to talk as men. “I was surprised when I learned you asked for me in the wee hours of the morning. I least expected such a sudden request from the Lycan King” Hector mumbled as he yawned, scratching his eyes as she was still feeling sleepy. “I'm sorry for this sudden summon. I know it's uncalled for but I just couldn't think of anyone else to spend the early hours of the morning with other than you” “I'm flattered you think so highly of me.” “I've been troubled lately and I guess it's the reason for my sleepless nights.” “What troubles the Lycan King?” “If I'm to be honest, I can't really pick out the exact cause for my worries. That is the scariest part of all these. Having a problem that can't be unidentified.” “It's okay to feel a little lost once in a while. But we just have to suck up all the bad energy and forge ahead like nothing happened.” “That is why I thought of taking a walk with you as a way to clear my head from all of my worries. Shall we?” Malakai asked as he led the way. “Right behind you.” Hector answered. They walked for a few minutes in total silence. It was clearly obvious that both of them had lots on their heads. They slowly walked for some miles and Malakai after figuring out how deep they've gone in their walk and that it was just the both of them and nature creating an ambiance of aesthetic appreciation decided to end the minutes of silence by asking Hector a question that almost blew him off his feet. “What do you think of the queen, Hector ?” “The quee–en ?” Hector couldn't place his words as he got the shock of his life when the Lycan King threw such a question at him. “Yes, the queen. I know you haven't really gotten to know her but from the little you've heard about her and judging by her attendance at the indoor meeting. I'm presuming you should have a word or two to say about her.” “Well, I haven't really thought about the queen to be specific. But so far all I've heard about her have been nothing short of loving and inspiring from all her subjects and even guests that have been visiting since we arrived.” “Do you agree with all they say?” “Why do I find the question a bit trickery and conniving? Pardon me for saying this but if there's anyone that should know the queen better than anyone else in the world. That should be none other than you, the Lycan King. And seeing how you both are happily married together. That says it all.” “Hahaha” Malakai laughed out to quench the mood because suspense was written all over. “I guess my question caught you off guard. Well, you're right. I know my wife better than anyone else in the whole wide world and I don't mean to brag but she's been the best thing that has ever happened to me ever since my existence.” “Oh here comes the love story.” Hector jested. “Yeah … right. I'd love to share it with you. That is if you're down for it.” “You bet I am.” Hector replied snaply. Hector has been dying to know how Malakai and Hireath cross paths. He's been dying of curiosity and it seemed luck was about to smile on him that morning. “It was years back. I spent most of my life back then conducting several mating balls but I just couldn't find my mate. Everyone was on my neck to find my mate and get married but it wasn't easy. I was rejecting the numerous ladies because I chose to. We weren't just meant to be. No matter how hard I tried, I could feel it from the first glance that they weren't my mate. My wolf sense never failed me.” “Just when I thought I'd never find my mate. I was on the verge of giving up. Just on the last night of the final matibg ball I conducted. I found Hireath, my love. I have never felt complete and fulfilled with any other woman but with Hireath, she magically swept me off my feet and I feel helplessly in love.” “True love I must say. That was your true love's experience. It's not easy to come by. But it is real. And once lost can almost never be retrieved. I lost the love of my life and ever since then my life has been nothing short of misery.” “My heart aches till this very moment whenever I look back in time to how I foolishly let my eyes be blinded by words from people. Without verifying if it was true, I turned my back on her like the coward I am. I should have given her the benefit of doubt. I should have given her the opportunity to talk. I judged her without hearing her own side of the story.” Hector said as he looked devastated, he turned away to avoid Malakai’s look. Hector quickly wiped off the tear drops from his eyes. Malakai could truly understand how bad Hector was feeling at that moment. He walked up to him and patted him on the shoulder. “We all make mistakes, you know. But we learn from our mistakes and become a much better version of ourselves. Don't beat yourself up too much. As leaders of our packs we should not feel ashamed of the wrongs we made in the past.” “How am I going to be a good leader of my pack, when I failed terribly as a husband to my wife and queen. I single handedly brought the catastrophic events to my clan. It's my punishment for being a failure as a husband and leader.” “Come on Hector. You risked your life to come here to look for a solution to the calamities that have befallen the Halo clan. That sacrifice alone is enough to prove that you are a good and selfless Alpha of your clan.” Malakai reassures Hector. “Now that you're here, I assure you that I'll do anything in my power to help out. I will –” just before Malakai could complete his sentence, he was distracted by Koslov. “I don't mean to intrude Sire. But the queen is up and has sent me to look for you.” “Oh really. I guess we lost track of time catching up as men, right Hector?” “Indeed we did.” “Let's call it a day here and return back to the palace. I can't keep my Queen waiting for too long.” “Never keep a woman waiting is a good man's motto.” Hector said and laughed. “Koslov, please take me to the queen this instant.” Malakai ordered. “This way, Sire.” Koslov led the way as Malakai and Hector followed behind.“Oh there you are. What's the reason for this sudden morning walk, my love?” Hireath asked Malakai.“I'm so sorry for making you worry about me this early in the morning. I just couldn't sleep so I decided to go clear my head. Pardon my manners, my love, let me formally introduce you to our guest. His name is Hector, Alpha of the Halo clan.”“Hector, meet my charming and adorable wife, queen Hireath of the Lycan pack.” Malakai smiled as he introduced Hireath to Hector.“A pleasure to meet the queen. I'm so grateful for the love and hospitality you all have shown towards my mother and I ever since we got here. We are deeply indebted to the Lycan pack.” Hector stretched his hands to shake Hireath. But she rejected the handshake offer in a very cold way.“Oh don't bother. It's not like we're left with another option other than to help your already dead clan. And please I don't want you and your mother to get unnecessary comfortable during the period of your stay here. I'd love for you
“Thanks for the meal mom.” Harrietta gave her mom a peck on the cheek as she left the dining room.“Stop right there young lady. Where do you think you're going without giving this king his own very special kiss.”“Da–ddy. Awwwn here's a very special kiss for you. Muah.” Harrietta blew a kiss in the air.“Wait up Harrietta. Thanks mom, thanks dad. We'll be in our rooms getting ready to have the most remarkable day of our lives.”“Slow down you both. You just had your breakfast.” Harriet giggled as she found the kids amusing.“Let them be my love. Let's enjoy the few minutes they'll be in their room all to ourselves.”“We'll be down in a minute. Make sure to be done with your meal by them.” Harriet and Harrietta ran through the stairs to their chambers.“All that noise … These kids will never cease to amuse me. They always keep me so happy and I can't imagine my life without them.”Malakai reached out his hands and took hold of Hireath’s palm, caressing it until he gave it a soft kiss.
It was morning and Malakai was getting set for the meeting with Hector in regards to how they can help the Halo clan rise back to their feet and save them from further catastrophes and impending dooms.Hireath was still asleep. The morning sun ray made its way to her face and shone so brightly as though she were a goddess.Malakai for a moment lost track of what he was doing as he stared lustfully at his beloved wife and queen while she laid peacefully like an angel on the bed.“How blessed I am. Waking up to this beautiful sight every morning. As each passing day goes by, I find myself falling more intoxicatingly in love with this beautiful soul.”Malakai used his hand to remove some parts of Hireath’s hair that covered her face and kissed her on her forehead. Malakai stared at Hireath face more directly for a longer period of time.Hireath opened her eyes slowly as she caught Malakai completely lost in his loving gaze at her. From gazing into her eyes to a flashing big smile. One co
“It must have been so tough for you. I really don't know how to express how I feel right now. My words fail me. But in my honor as the Lycan King , I'll see to it that the Halo clan is well taken care of.”“We're indebted to the Lycan pack.” “I want you to assist in supervising the supplies that will be sent out. I want everything organized, mobilized and sent out with immediate effect. I see no reason for any delay. Put your mind at rest Hector. The Halo clan are in safe hands now.”“You indeed are a great king. May the moon goddess repay you and your pack for your kind gesture.”“Don't mention. I think you need to discuss this with your mother. Someone has to accompany the troop that will be sent out in a few days time. And she's in the best position to go with them, while you stay here as we proceed in our search for a solution. What do you think about it?”“It's a nice suggestion, Lycan King. I'll discuss it with her immediately when I go back to the guest chamber. Though I'd lov
Hector went up to his room still in shock and disbelief as he was trying to understand what his eyes just saw. “Why am I so bothered by this? But Hireath was accused of not being able to bear his children after five solid years of marriage but here she is married to another man with twin children just in the space of three years? This just doesn't sit right with me. Was she really guilty of taking the birth control herbs? If only there is a way for me to figure out the whole truth. Should I request an explanation from Hireath and damn the consequences?”“What am I thinking? How would I dare to request an opportunity to speak with her. Why should I just suddenly interfere into her already perfect life like I wasn't the one who ruined it in the past? But I deserve the truth, don't I? Even if I just get to hear it once from her. But how do I go about it?”Luna Emelda was already standing in the room staring at Hector, but he didn't even notice her presence as he was engulfed in deep tho
It was the next day where Hector is to submit the list and also a meeting with the seer, Hireath the queen, elders and prominent members of the Lycan pack in search of a lasting solution for the Halo clan from the moon goddess “Hope it wasn't much trouble drafting the list?” Malakai asked Hector.“It was a piece of cake thanks to the competent help we got from Koslov. It really made everything easy and stress free.”“Let me have the list, so I'll have it reviewed today and then we start picking out the supplies tomorrow. Hope that's a good idea?”“It is a great decision, Lycan King.” Hector said as he handed the list over to Malakai.“Greetings my great king.” the pack's seer said as she announced her presence.“Oh you're most welcome Layla. We are grateful for your esteemed presence to grace this meeting.”“Now that everyone is present. Let's get the meeting started.” The head elder stated.“Layla, we need to hear from the moon goddess regarding the catastrophic events with the Halo
Hector is disoriented, disarrayed and doesn't know what to do or what to say. To his consternation he was stuck in between the lines. Should he put the whole blame on Hireath, his ex wife and Luna queen? Or should he say the truth and damn the consequences. Even if that means having everyone find out how badly he treated her and that may make them change their mind in helping them because they'll obviously see whatever calamity that befell them as the consequences for the wicked treatment of the previous queen. He never imagined a day like this would come where he would be faced with a situation like this. But worse of it all is that the very queen they were asking about was right before his very eyes. What is he going to say? She now wields so much power and that alone can have his tongue off his lip if he says anything terrible about her. She can decide to tell the truth about what he and the entire Halo clan put her through and that will only put him and his clan into more danger.
The mood at the throne room becomes really argumentative and defiant. There is uproar as there is lots of shouting and noise because everyone was angry and upset about the story Hector and his mother, Luna Emelda told them. There is a heated argument between those at the throne room. Majority were against the ex Luna queen and they blamed her for being the reason and cause of all the terrible happenings with the Halo clan while few were of the opinion that they hear her own side of the story before coming to a conclusion. “The Halo clan have suffered a whole lot already. How much more will they have to suffer and the originator of the whole problem is living free somewhere. It really is unfair and it's on that note that I suggest we set up a search party that will be on the lookout for her with immediate effect.” The Gemma Lord suggested.“How are we so sure, the Luna queen is only the reason for all these calamities. What if they're other reasons?”“What other reasons could there be
