"Yes, I promise. I won't make that kind of mistake again, Sarah." He spoke to me with his face already somber and his voice low and powerless.

From his body gestures, he still seemed hesitant to touch me. The weak smile on her face and her teary gaze made me stare at her helplessly. What I had done must have hurt and frightened her so much I didn't think about that.
