Chapter 20

Logan’s POV

As I sat behind my desk the scent of my desk lingered in the air, and the sound of my pen tapping echoed. My mind raced with questions, one after the other. How is it that Veronica had yet to receive her wolf? Would that explain that she doesn’t know about me? The questions just kept running through my mind.

The door creaked open, and Andrew stepped into the room, his expression worried me. I set my pen down and leaned back into my chair.

“Alpha.” He said, his voice filled with urgency. “We’ve uncovered something about the attack.”

I leaned forward, my interest piqued. “What have you found?” I asked, my voice steady.

With a deep breath Andrew spoke, “They used wolfsbane.”

“What?”

“Unfortunately, there was no way to save them. They would have died no matter what our medical team would have tried.” He said with sadness in his tone. His gaze fell to the ground.

“That’s impossible. The last wolfbane was destroyed years ago. There must be some kind of mistake.”
