Chapter 21

Veronica’s POV

The next morning tiredness didn’t want to let go of me, exhaustion seemed to sink in deeper with each yawn. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I stood up from the comfort of my bed. The events of the previous day seemed to have a bigger effect on me than I thought.

As I got dressed there was a soft knock that echoed through the room, Maya’s voice followed soon after, “Morning Miss Veronica.”

I greeted her with a tired smile, “Morning.”

She looked at me with a worried smile, “Is everything alright?”

“Everything is fine. Just a bit tired, I didn't sleep too well last night.” I lied.

She lifted my face, giving me a reassuring smile, but the moment was short-lived. Her expression quickly changed, “We’re going to be late.”

“Late? Late for what?” I asked, surprised by her sudden urgency.

“For your lesson.”

“Again?”

“Yes. Now come on.” She grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the room.
