Chapter 45

Veronica’s POV

Three days had passed, and there was still no sight of Logan. The waiting started to make a knot in my stomach. For the past few days I sat on the steps waiting for him, hoping that he would return home. My eyes were fixed on the distant road, I started imagining how I would react when he would walk up the road. The warmth of the sun’s rays tickled my skin, but it did little to calm the worry.

Everyday went by longer and longer without him, and the questions still played through my mind.

What if something had happened to him?

What if he was laying lifeless somewhere?

What if?

The bond between Athina and I was growing stronger day by day, and her presence gave me confidence. But the fear of not knowing if Logan was okay or not, gnawed at me. Leaning forward, resting my chin on my knees, the silence of the mention was soothing. I could feel Grace’s gaze on me, I knew she was looking over me. She gave me space, but if I needed her she would be next to me in just seconds.
