Veronica’s POVI started to wake up, my mind foggy as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. The cold, damp air clung to my skin, making me shiver. The sight of a bulb flickering above my head made the room feel more like a prison. I tried to move but the chains binding my wrists and ankles echoed through the small room. Veronica’s POVMy voice was cracking as I whispered, my desperate plea was left with the deafening silence.The cold metal of the chains started to eat into my wrists. This was starting to feel like a horrible nightmare that I just couldn’t seem to wake up from. I knew there was no use in hoping for a miracle. Veronica’s POVMarcus’s lips curled into a wicked grin as he saw me readying myself for a fight. He stepped forward, his eyes narrowed, I could see he clearly enjoyed the fear I was projecting. I stood my ground, knowing I needed to get him down to be able to escape. I lunged myself at him with the nail, the hope of catching him off guard. He stuck out his hand and grabbed me by my wrist. The war room was once a place where we planned and strategized when setting out to war, but now it seemed like a prison of uncertainty. The thought of Veronica in danger because of me was unbearable.
